High School Roundup | Alliance, West Branch, Minerva and Louisville all win

CANTON TWP. — K'Vaughn Davis and Diego Allen scored 12 points apiece as Alliance took control of first place in the Eastern Buckeye Conference with a 41-38 victory at Canton South on Tuesday night.

EBC-leading Alliance (11-2, 8-1 EBC) is one game ahead of both Marlington and West Branch (both 6-2) in the standings. The Aviators play host to the Dukes on Friday.

Peyton Karovic finished with a game-high 13 points for Canton South (9-7, 4-4). Brady Noll added 10.

West Branch 68, Lake Center Christian 36

BELOIT — Jaxon Hendershott hit seven 3s and scored a game-high 25 points to power West Branch past Lake Center.

The Warriors (12-2) raced out to a 33-12 halftime lead and rolled to the easy win.

Dru DeShields finished with 14 points for West Branch. Nick Wilson added 11.

Ethan Bower led Lake Center with 10 points.

Minerva 55, Carrollton 51

MINERVA — Brayden Costea hit seven 3-pointers and scored a career-high 37 points to help the host Lions beat rival Carrollton.

The 37 breaks his previous high of 32 that he set two games ago at Southeast. In between he had 29 against Alliance. This is Costea’s third game of 30 points or more this season.

Jaxon Rinkes had a career-high 27 points to lead the Warriors. Darick Miller had a double-double of 12 points and 10 rebounds.

Louisville 68, Jackson 66

JACKSON TWP. — Hayden Nigro poured in a game-high 29 points and Will Aljancic finished with 22 as the Leopards went into Jackson and won.

Aljancic hit three 3-pointers and added a game-high six rebounds for Louisville (11-4), which outscored Jackson 21-19 in the fourth quarter.

JJ Vaughn led the Polar Bears (8-7) with 18 points. Kevin James finished with 13 points. Alvin Altman added a team-high six rebounds for Jackson, which has lost three straight games since its double-overtime win against Hoover on Jan. 14.
