HIGH SCHOOL ROUNDUP: Archbishop Williams boys hoops claims first league title since 2006

Josh Campbell came up clutch.

The high-flying junior scored a layup with 1.2 seconds remaining to preserve Archbishop Williams' 14-0 record and clinch the Bishops their first CCL title since 2006 with a 78-77 win over St. Mary's of Lynn. Campbell finished with 23 points and 9 rebounds.

It was a matchup between the top two teams in the MIAA Division 3 tournament power ratings. The Bishops were No. 1 while the Spartans, who are also the defending state champions, were No. 3.

Junior guard Tristan Rodrigues led the team in scoring with 32 points, including 8 three-pointers, and senior forward Lorenzo Jackson added 13 points.

BOYS BASKETBALL

Hingham 68, Whitman-Hanson 59: Liam McBride recorded 25 points, 12 rebounds and 5 assists to become Hingham's all-time leading scorer, surpassing 2006 grad Neil Creahan. The Harbormen improve to 8-9 with the win. For Whitman-Hanson (10-6), freshman Isaiah Bean Brittian scored 17 points, sophomore Ryan Baker scored 15 and senior Drew Daley scored 13.

North Quincy 57, Pembroke 41: The Raiders (12-4) broke the game open with a 29-2 run in the second half. Zach Taylor scored 29 points in the win and Alex Pham had a career-high 9 points. Kobe Nguyen added 11 points and 5 assists. Joe Dwyer led the Titans with 21 points in the loss.

Plymouth North 51, Duxbury 50: Nick Marcel scored 24 points while Hunter Byron chipped in 8 for the Blue Eagles (6-10).

Marshfield 60, Silver Lake 49: James Molloy scored a game-high 23 points as the Rams (10-4) qualified for the state tournament with the win. Luke Loftstrom scored 15 points for the Lakers.

Needham 50, Braintree 41: Terry Elie led the Wamps with 9 points while Owen Daiute and Tristan Linn each scored 8.

Hanover 43, Plymouth South 42: The Hawks improve to 8-6 with the win. The Panthers fall to 9-5.

Oliver Ames 56, Stoughton 52: Jayden Costa-Haywood scored 23 points for the Black Knights.

Middleboro 56, Norwell 54: Big games from Matt Youngquist (18 points, 11 rebounds) and Matt Younguist (14 points, 8 rebounds) led the Sachems to the win. Matt Leaver finished with 21 points, 8 rebounds and 4 blocks.

Randolph 55, Abington 54: Isiah Michel scored 22 points, 17 of which came in the second quarter, for the Blue Devils (10-3). Dylan Swinton added 12 points and Mahki Barnes had 5 points and 14 rebounds. Tyler Staiti scored a game-high 27 points for the Green Wave (7-9).

Catholic Memorial 71, BC High 62: The Eagles dropped the Catholic Conference game.

New Bedford 69, Bridgewater-Raynham 57: The Trojans fall to 3-10.

Canton 46, Sharon 43: Caden Mirliani scored 15 points for the Bulldogs (8-7), including the go-ahead 3-pointer. Jeremiah Predin added 10 points and Jamaal McConnell chipped in 9.

Mashpee 57, Carver 46: The Crusaders lost the South Shore League game. Tyler Lennox scored 13 points.

Walpole 80, Milton 54: The Wildcats lost the Bay State Conference game.

Scituate 87, Quincy 57: The Sailors improved to 12-4 with the Patriot League win. On Senior Night, seniors Kyle Mullen (17 points, 10 rebounds) and Jimmy Tolton (25 points) led the way. Junior Michael Porter added 15.

Wellesley 55, Weymouth 50: Edric Louisaint scored 18 points in the loss while Cortney Caldwell added 12.

GIRLS BASKETBALL

Whitman-Hanson 51, Hingham 40: Taryn Leonard scored a team-high 16 points and drained four 3-pointers for the Panthers (11-5). Kennedy Frazier drained five 3-pointers to finish with 15 points. Caitlin Leahy chipped in with 10 points.

Quincy 58, Scituate 52: The Presidents improve to 13-2.

Pembroke 43, North Quincy 34: Ava Bryan scored 21 points in the loss.

Needham 27, Braintree 24: Sophia DeAngelis scored 9 points for the Wamps.

Norwell 49, Middleboro 39: Sophia Moxley scored 8 points for the Sachems (8-9).

Weymouth 40, Wellesley 32: Elleanna Santos led the way for the Wildcats with 11 points coming off three 3-pointers. Meg Doyle added 10 points and Callie Flynn had 9.

Duxbury 50, Plymouth North 38: Amanda Donovan scored 16 points and captain Lucy Laviolette, recovering from ACL surgery, scored 2 points.

Bridgewater-Raynham 65, New Bedford 46: Jenna Micciantuono netted a career-high 18 points and grabbed 10 rebounds for the Trojans (11-3), who also received productive nights from Natalia Hall-Rosa (18 points, 8 rebounds, 5 assists) and Brenna Woodbury (10 points, 8 assists and 5 steals).

Canton 48, Sharon 45: The Bulldogs won the South Shore League game.

St. Mary’s (Lynn) 57, Archbishop Williams 35: The Bishops dropped the Catholic Central League game.

Mashpee 57, Carver 46: The Crusaders (6-10) lost this South Shore League matchup.

Hanover 58, Plymouth South 31: Noey Giardina scored 23 points for the Hawks.

Oliver Ames 48, Stoughton 39: The Tigers won the Hockomock League game.

Malden Catholic 57, Notre Dame Academy 47: Elle Orlando scored 20 points in the loss for the Cougars (8-6). Ava Orlando (11 points) and Lola Paradis (10) also finished in double digits.

BOYS HOCKEY

Weymouth 4, Wellesley 3 (OT): Jack Brady (two goals) scored the winner in overtime for the Wildcats. Andrew Ferguson and Jack Browning each scored a goal and added an assist.
