HIGH SCHOOL ROUNDUP: Balanced scoring leads Middleboro boys hockey past Stoughton/Brockton

James Joyce, Sam Steinman, Nolan Kaiser and Brayden Fernald each had a goal and an assist Wednesday night to lead the Middleboro/Carver/Wareham boys hockey team to a 4-1 win over Stoughton/Brockton at Bridgewater Ice Arena.

Jake Deane and Levon Mulready had assists for the Sachems (2-3-1), and goaltender Greg Mason had a strong game.

Charlie Caputo scored in the loss for Stoughton/Brockton (3-4), while Sean McGowan played well in net.

BOYS HOCKEY

Oliver Ames 4, Taunton 2: Daniel Paul scored two goals for the Tigers (4-2), including the winner. Jack Perron and Brenden Teehan scored the other OA goals. Jack Corey chipped in with 2 assists.

Canton 7, Foxboro 0: Carson Eagles recorded a shutout for the Bulldogs (6-0) while Cullen O'Brien and James Young each scored two goals.

South Shore Tech 8, Greater New Bedford Voke 1: Tommy Jenkins and Jake McAleer both had hat tricks for the Vikings (3-4) and goaltender Tanner Graden played well in net.

Marshfield 8, Quincy 0: Brady Quackenbush and James Landry combined for the shutout in the win for the Rams (5-1-1). Bennett Ewell recorded his first varsity goal.

Plymouth North 2, Plymouth South 1 (OT): Tommy O'Connell scored the winner 2:29 into overtime for Plymouth North (2-3). Andrew Berlo scored in the loss for South (5-2).

Bourne 3, West Bridgewater/East Bridgewater 1: WEB (4-3) lost at Gallo Arena.

Silver Lake 1, Hanover 1: The Lakers (6-1-1) and Hawks (2-3-1) skated to a Patriot League tie. Aiden Dunphy had Silver Lake's goal, assisted by Pat Murphy.

Milton 5, Weymouth 4 (OT): Ryan Peterson scored twice, and Harrison Hinckle, Declan Walsh and Owen McHugh added goals for Milton (4-3) in the Bay State Conference road win.

Braintree 4, Needham 1: Drew Coady and Charlie DiMartino each had a goal and an assist as the Wamps (3-2) won on the road. Robbie Young and Kyle Hutchinson added goals, and Nick Fasano and Andrew Gaffney each had a pair of assists. Goaltender Amir Cullinane got the win.

Duxbury 7, Pembroke 0: Connor O'Connell scored twice as the Dragons (5-2-2) beat the Titans (3-2) at home. Anderson Kilbourne, Brendan Bonner, Liam Bonner, Braden Hulett and Chris Gillis added goals.

Hingham 4, Central Catholic 1: The Harbormen (4-1-2) won on the road.

Southeastern/Bristol-Plymouth 5, Upper Cape Tech 0: Sean Kelly scored his first two varsity goals 12 seconds apart to jumpstart the Hawks (2-2-1). Dalton Ghelfi, Nick Falcione and Thomas Leger added goals, and Dylan Quinn and Jake Schofield combined on the shutout.

Dennis Yarmouth 6, Blue Hills 2: The Warriors (2-6) lost at home.

Scituate 5, Whitman-Hanson 3: The Sailors (5-2-1) got goals from Jackson Belsan, Teagen Pratt, Johnny Donahue, Luke Ryan (first varsity goal in varsity debut) and Matt Seghezzi (empty netter). Goaltender Thomas McMellen had a strong game. Matt Solari, Luke Tropeano and Alex Ethier scored for Whitman-Hanson (4-4).

GIRLS HOCKEY

Whitman-Hanson/Silver Lake 6, West/East Bridgewater 3: Brenna Hohmann had a pair of goals and an assist for W-H/SL (4-2). Brooke Hohmann, Sam Webb and Caitlin Dilley also scored. Cindy French, Grace Ogilvie and Bella Armado scored for WEB.

Milton 1, Weymouth 0: Kerry Balerna deflected a shot from the point to net the only goal of the game in the second period. Lila Chamoun recorded the shutout in net for Milton (6-1).

Braintree 5, Needham 0: Eva Surette recorded the shutout in net for the Wamps (3-2-1) and Meghan Ceriani had a goal and 2 assists. Emma Walsh, Nora McLaughlin, Claire Joyce and Kelsey Littlewood also scored.

Duxbury 3, Marshfield 0: Maddie Greenwood scored a pair of goals for the Dragons (6-0) and assisted on a McKenna Colella goal.

Norwell/Abington 5, Hingham 3: Penny Saich recorded her third hat trick of the season in the win for the Clippers (5-1) while Maddie McDonald tallied her 11th goal of the season. Lainey Burns tacked on an assist and a goal.

Plymouth North/Plymouth South 2, Falmouth 2: Ava Grennell and Maeve Campbell scored for Plymouth (3-2-1), and Jen Diercks had a pair of assists. Gabbie Sidman made 35 saves.

Pembroke 9, Quincy/North Quincy 2: Jennifer Birolini scored a hat trick for the Titans (5-2), and Lauren Perry tacked on two goals. Addison Nee and Kelsi Hatch scored her first varsity goal.

Hanover 5, Scituate 2: Eighth-grader Maggie Lovering scored both Sailor goals in the loss. The Hawks improve to 2-3.

King Philip 3, Canton 0: The Bulldogs (6-2) lost at home.

BOYS BASKETBALL

Blue Hills 53, Avon 36: Senior Nikko Ruffin scored 14 points to lead the Warriors to a home win. Tyler Anderson added 12 points, and Patrick Lee had 11.

Holbrook 72, Diman 35: The Bulldogs (4-1) won at home behind big games from Armani Perkins (26 points) and Owen Burke (25 points).

Milton Academy 92, Thayer Academy 59: The visiting Mustangs beat the Tigers in ISL action.

GIRLS BASKETBALL

Blue Hills 45, Bishop Connolly 25: Bridget Devine, a junior from Braintree, scored 8 points to lead the Warriors (5-0) to a road win. Ally Johnson (Holbrook), Kathleen Murphy and Bella Sulfaro each added 6 points.

Notre Dame Academy 46, Hingham 39: Ava Orlando scored 22 points, Elle Orlando added 16, and Lola Paradis chipped in with 7 points and 10 rebounds as the Cougars won the town rivalry game. Jane Hilsabeck was a defensive standout for NDA.

Milton 41, Hamilton-Wenham 30: Junior Ava Regan scored 9 points and was a defensive catalyst for the Wildcats in a non-league home win.

WRESTLING

Hingham 45, Whitman-Hanson 34: The Panthers (3-3-2) lost on the road but got individual wins from P.J. Katz (106 pounds), Charlie Lussier (pin at 113), Christian Grimaldi (pin at 120), Austin Gamber (pin at 132), Braden Kain (pin at 138) and Aidan Guiliani (pin at 145). Lussier is 16-0 on the season with 14 pins. Kain is 21-2 with 15 pins, and Guiliani is 16-2 with 11 pins.

Bridgewater-Raynham 43 Brockton 30: The Trojans (6-1) got wins from Kennedie Davis, Matt Fernandes, Jack Alves, Brent von Magnus, Christian Curley, Luke Driscoll, Jackson Rinke and Myles Beckett.

Needham 48, Milton 36: In the loss, the Wildcats got individual wins from Isaac Remy, Kenny Heraldo, Alex Alexis, Gabe Veal, Mason Pellegri and Carson Gautschi.

Mansfield 39, Stoughton 36: The Black Knights lost a close Hockomock League match.

GIRLS GYMNASTICS

Bridgewater-Raynham/West Bridgewater 141.9, Notre Dame Academy 134.5: Senior captain Katie Russo, who is coming back from a knee injury, only competed in two events, but had the top score on both -- 9.2 on bars and 9.4 on balance beam. Junior Lexi Fabrizio won vault with personal-best 9.15. Freshman Lily Moreira was third on vault (8.75) and second on bars (8.8). NDA's Katie McCormack won the all-around (36.0) and the floor exercise (9.4). She was second on beam (9.15) and vault (9.1).

Cohasset/Norwell 135.3, Carver/Middleboro 121.3: C/N picked up the season-opening win.

GIRLS INDOOR TRACK & FIELD

Brockton 51, Durfee 27: On Tuesday, the Boxers swept four events – 55 meters, 1,000m and both relays. Brockton got strong efforts from seniors Mckenzie Quinn (hurdles) and Claudia Pierre (55m) and sophomores Keira Williamson (600m) and Gabrielle Warner (1,000m).

Bridgewater-Raynham 75, New Bedford 23: On Tuesday, Nethica Auguste won the long jump and 55m, and Sydney O'Donnell won the 1,000m and mile for B-R. The Trojans also got wins from Lily Giurleo (300m), Delaney Moreau (600m), Beyonce Gray (high jump), the 4x200m relay (Auguste, Giurleo, Makena Columbus, Belle Johnson) and the 4x400m relay (Bree Reid, Leva Piragis, Lila Wilcox, Emily Keefe).
