HIGH SCHOOL ROUNDUP: Barnstable girls lacrosse wins triple-overtime thriller

Tuesday's high school girls lacrosse game between Barnstable and Bridgewater-Raynham had a little bit of everything.

The teams combined for 28 goals in regulation but then needed three overtimes to settle the game. Ultimately, it was Barnstable's Ally McEneaney that was the hero, netting the winner in the third extra period for a 15-14 victory.

McEneaney led the way offensively with four goals. Grace Bunnell and Claire Kayajan each had three goals in the win.

Lindsay Jones, Annie Kennedy, Caroline Meins, Annabelle Kane, Codi Pickering, Shelby LoCascio and CeCe Brisbois also played well in the win.

Monomoy 11, Dennis-Yarmouth 5: The Sharks improve to 1-0 following the win over Dennis-Yarmouth (0-2).

Boys Lacrosse

Monomoy 10, Dennis-Yarmouth 8: The Sharks (1-0) opened the season with a win behind Tamer Khalil's four goals and three assists. Christian Whittle and Dillon Chapman each had two goals in the win. Jake Giorgio made nine saves. The Dolphins are 0-1.

Barnstable 9, Plymouth North 5: Owen O'Connor had three goals and three assists to help the Red Hawks improve to 2-1 on the season. Grady Alger made 12 saves, and Chase Field, and Matt DeDecko added two goals apiece.

Falmouth 9, Silver Lake 6: The Clippers improve to 2-0.

Scituate 14, Sandwich 6: Daniel Oman had four of the Blue Knight's (1-1) six goals in the loss. Shane Corcoran made 21 saves for Sandwich

Girls Tennis

Monomoy 5, Nantucket 0: Tatiana Malone (6-2, 7-5 in first singles), Lilly Gould (6-2, 6-1 in second singles), and Jocelyn White (6-3, 6-4) swept the singles matches for the Sharks (2-1). Alyson Morris/Sarah Poskanze (first doubles) and Cassidy Parker/Madison Mahfouz (second) wrapped up the sweep. Nantucket falls to 0-3.

Plymouth South 5, Dennis-Yarmouth 0: The Dolphins (0-1) were swept in their season opener.

Plymouth North 5, Sandwich 0: The Blue Knights drop to 0-2.

Boys Tennis

Sturgis 5, Mashpee 0: Sturgis (3-0) continued its undefeated start to the season with a sweep over Mashpee. Mike Olson took first singles over Colin Bur (6-1, 6-2) while Ben Bass and Ray Zhang won second and third singles, respectively (both 6-0, 6-0). In the doubles matchups, Colby Hall and Francisco Garcia Raya (6-0, 6-0 over Camden Perry, and Cole Rodgers) and Ben Halunen and Robert Muhov (6-0, 6-0 over Matt Duvall and Jesse Dean) won first and second doubles, respectively.

Monomoy 3, Nantucket 2: The Sharks improved to 2-1 with the win over the Whalers (0-2). The Sharks swept the singles matchups to secure the win. Ryan Casey won first singles (6-0, 6-0), Vidan Vujosevic took second singles (6-2, 6-2), and Gavin McDonnell won third singles (6-1, 7-6 (7-3)). The pairs of Nik Kristen and Hunter Gross, and Aiden Sullivan andHawkin Edwardes, grabbed points for Nantucket in first and second doubles.

Plymouth North 3, Sandwich 2: Andrew Emmel won first singles (6-2, 7-5), while Joey LaScola and Quinn Johnston took the victory in the second doubles for Sandwich.

Softball

Barnstable 12, Upper Cape 0: The Red Hawks improve to 1-1 on the season, while Upper Cape drops to 0-3.

Pembroke 7, Falmouth 3: The Clippers (0-1) dropped their season opener, despite 11 strikeouts over six innings from Anna Velesig and an RBI at the plate. Kaylee Shaw, Anna Bennett, and Molly Belfiore each scored a run.

Baseball

Nauset 10, St. John Paul II 4: The Warriors started their season with a win over the Lions (1-1). Chase Beach went five innings, striking out seven and only allowing an unearned run for Nauset.

Upper Cape 8, Westport 7: The Rams got the victory in nine innings in their season opener. Joe Erneck had the walk-off hit in the bottom of the ninth for the Rams (1-0), driving in Harrison Gargan. Jacob Allen earned the win out of the Upper Cape bullpen.

Sturgis 6, Cape Tech 1: Sturgis opened its season with a win behind a combined 18 strikeouts from Ben Conlon, James Hereford, and Robbie Pennswick. The trio also only allowed two hits in the win. Trevor Ryone struck out seven for the Crusaders.

Sailing

Barnstable 5, Monomoy 0: The Red Hawks opened the season with a win, led by captains JordynJohnson and Molly Cahill.

Golf

Monomoy 3.5, Nauset 2.5: The Sharks (2-0) took the narrow victory over the Warriors (0-1). Sally Watson, Orla Delaney, and Ava LaRocco (all 1-up) won their matches, and Ava Packett split the points with Nauset's Sophie Sulivan to earn the win. Kerry Farrell and Delaney Kline took points for Nauset.
