HIGH SCHOOL ROUNDUP: BC High golf wins Div. 1 state crown; Duxbury ties for 2nd in Div. 2

It's not how you start, it's how you finish.

The BC High golf team, which started the regular season 0-6 before winning its final six matches, captured the Division 1 state team championship on Tuesday, shooting a combined score of 311 at Renaissance Golf Club in Haverhill.

St. John’s of Shrewsbury was second.

BC High's Andrew teDuits and Danny Fearing each shot 2-over-par 74 to finish in a five-way tie for third. Jack Waldner, Nick McCabe, Mike Marshall and J.J. Campbell also competed for the Eagles.

Hingham placed seventh in team scoring at 323. Carson Erick shot 4-over 76 to place 11th.

Duxbury tied for second in team scoring at the Div. 2 state championship at Maplegate Country Club in Bellingham. The Dragons had a score of 303, tying them with Bishop Stang just one stroke behind champ Old Rochester.

Owen Hamilton shot 1-over 73 to tie for seventh overall in a field of 87 for Duxbury. Andrew Curley was 16th at 4-over 76. Zach Hamilton and Devin Kenneally each shot 77 as part of a five-way tie for 20th. Ryan Sherwood was at 85, and Tom Greenwood was at 87.

Archbishop Williams' Andrew Marcotte, playing as an individual, tied for 29th with a 79.

BOYS SOCCER

Milton 0, Brookline 0: Goalkeeper Ian Wick posted the clean sheet for the visiting Wildcats (3-5-7) in the Bay State Conference tie. Karim Camara, Ryan O’Donnell and Sean Patrick Faherty were defensive standouts.

Braintree 3, Natick 1: Calum McClorey scored twice, and Tim Carney added a goal and an assist for the Wamps (8-8-1).

Marshfield 3, Plymouth North 1: Cody Holbert had a hat trick for the Rams (11-2-1). Matt Bilodeau, Ryan Treacy and Philip Morisseau each had an assist. Drew Healy scored for North, which got strong games from Colin Riley Perec and Bradlee Sorensen.

Hingham 5, Duxbury 0: Aidan Brazel and Bryce Botelho each scored twice, Pat Haberlin added a goal, and Mason Lemieux had three assists for the Harbormen (11-2-4).

Pembroke 2, Quincy 0: Andrew Gleason and Wil McManus scored as the Titans (16-0) won on Senior Day. Ethan Sullivan had an assist, and goalkeeper Jack Taylor posted the shutout.

Silver Lake 3, Whitman-Hanson 2: T.J. Vogt scored his first career goal, and Andrew Palma and Ayden Bell also found the net for the Lakers. Drew Burns, Dom Ortenzi and Logan Harrington had assists. Ethan Fostello and Evan Gillespie scored for the Panthers.

Brockton 4, New Bedford 1: The Boxers clinched the Southeast Conference championship.

Holbrook 4, South Shore Tech 0: The Bulldogs topped the Vikings in Mayflower Athletic Conference action.

Plymouth South 2, North Quincy 1: The Panthers won a Patriot League game over the Raiders.

GIRLS SOCCER

Silver Lake 4, Whitman-Hanson 0: Avery DePaul scored twice, and Paige Dudley and Shea Kelleher also found the net for the Lakers (7-2-7). Kelleher added an assist, and goalkeeper Milannia Marin earned her first shutout. Brooke McAloney, Lexi Cole and Makenna Marshall played well for the Panthers in the loss.

Weymouth 3, Newton North 0: Julia O’Brien scored twice and Becca Brooks added a goal for the Wildcats (6-5-4).

North Quincy 3, Plymouth South 2: Faye Fitzpatrick, Caitlin Cormican and Paige Grippi scored for the Raiders.

Blue Hills 0, Norfolk Aggie 0: Senior goalkeeper Mikeyla Roman (Randolph) posted the shutout for the Warriors (10-0-4) in the Mayflower Athletic Conference tie.

Plymouth North 2, Marshfield 2: Mya D’Antonio scored twice for Marshfield in the Patriot League tie.

Hingham 3, Duxbury 1: Claire Murray scored twice, and Caroline Schiffman added a goal for the Harborwomen (13-0-3).

Bridgewater-Raynham 3, Durfee 1: The Trojans clinched the Southeast Conference title behind two goals from Lily Ford and one from Makena Columbus.

FIELD HOCKEY

East Bridgewater 1, Middleboro 0: Jaci Stella scored the lone goal, and Cara Hancock posted the shutout as the Vikings (6-5-4) clinched a spot in the Div. 3 state tournament.

Cohasset 6, Carver 0: The Skippers (11-3-1) blanked the Crusaders (6-6-5) in South Shore League action.

Norwell 8, Mashpee 0: Lainey Burns had a hat trick, Maddie Macdonald scored twice, and Bella Burns, Grace Campbell and Margaret Lievi added goals for the Clippers (7-6-3).

GIRLS VOLLEYBALL

Norwell 3, Pembroke 2: Sarah Pegurri had 5 blocks and 8 kills and served the last two points in the fifth set as the host Clippers (15-3) rallied for a 25-16, 14-25, 16-25, 30-28, 15-12 win. Izzy Woodman had 7 of her 9 kills in the final two sets. Setters Margot Bonnevie (5 digs) and Madi Daves controlled the offence with 13 assists each. EJ Garachi added 4 kills, 5 assists, 35 digs and served 9 for 12 with 3 aces.

Abington 3, Whitman-Hanson 2: The Green Wave rallied from a 2-0 deficit to pick up the non-league win. Bella Miniutti and Caitlin Leahy played well for the Panthers (10-9) in the loss.

Canton 3, Quincy 0: Jess Wright had 21 kills, 10 digs, 3 blocks and 3 aces to lead the Bulldogs (12-7) to a non-league win over the Presidents (13-8). Liana Lamparelli added 13 digs.

North Quincy 3, Boston Latin Academy: The Raiders (18-1) won, 25-19, 25-9, 25-9.

Hingham 3, Notre Dame Academy 0: The Harborwomen (13-6) beat their crosstown rivals, 25-18, 25-20, 25-23.

Cardinal Spellman 3, Arlington Catholic 0: Roslyn Quinn starred for the Cardinals (15-3).

West Bridgewater 3, Dighton-Rehoboth 1: The Wildcats (16-2) won a non-league match.

South Shore Tech 3, Southeastern 2: Gemma Geisler had 10 kills and 20 digs, and Hannah Nota had 7 kills and 21 digs as the Vikings (16-2) rallied after losing the first two sets. Also starring for South Shore: Julia Da Silva (served 10 for 10 with 2 aces), Alli Traynor (served 8 for 9, 26 digs) and Mia Bradshaw (26 assists).
