HIGH SCHOOL ROUNDUP: Braintree girls soccer edges town rival Archbishop Williams at home

Sophomore forward Hannah Carr scored 6 minutes into the game Monday night as the Braintree High girls soccer team edged town rival Archbishop Williams, 1-0, at home.

Freshman goalkeeper Audrey Ormsby recorded the shutout in her first career start for the Wamps (3-4-3). She was aided by strong play from backs Ally Melo, Nina DiRusso, Kianna O'Sullivan and Emma Vanderslice.

Williams is 7-3.

GIRLS SOCCER

Oliver Ames 6, Taunton 1: Jenna Gilman scored twice, and Emma Gavin, Mary Cross, Jolie Diaz and Laney Carroll added goals for the Tigers (8-1). Lucinda Li Cotter added three assists, and Sophia Byron had one. Jenna Nelson and Ali Manson also played well for OA.

Stoughton 4, Milford 3: The Black Knights (4-5-1) rallied from a 3-0 deficit to win on the road. Shayla Ford scored twice, Bianca Casna netted the tying goal, and Makenzie O'Connor won it in the 78th minute.

Whitman-Hanson 1, Silver Lake 1: In a rematch of last year's Div. 2 state final, the Panthers (3-4-2) and the Lakers (2-2-4) played to a Patriot League tie. Makenna Marshall scored for W-H, which got strong defensive games out of backs Brooke McAloney, Savannah Kamperides, Kennedy Frazier and Lexi Cole in front of goalkeeper Ava Patete.

Hingham 3, Duxbury 1: Claire Murray scored twice and assisted on Sophie Reale's goal for the Harborwomen (8-0-2). Emily Gibbons and Reale also had assists.

Marshfield 2, Plymouth North 0: Ryann Doyle scored twice for the Rams (4-3-1), and goalkeepers Sydney Sheehan and Maggie Tiernan combined for the shutout.

Cardinal Spellman 2, Bishop Fenwick 1: Emma Pero and Lyla Deftos scored for the Cardinals (5-1-2). Mary Heffernan, Peyton Galgana and Clare Varano were defensive standouts.

Cohasset 2, Middleboro 1: Tess Barrett scored both goals for the visiting Skippers (5-1-1). Elleana Bush scored for the Sachems (3-4-2), assisted by Jessica Perry. Goalkeeper Hannah Larson made 13 saves for Middleboro.

East Bridgewater 5, Rockland 1: The Vikings topped the Bulldogs in South Shore League action.

Pembroke 5, Quincy 0: The Titans posted a Patriot League win.

Hanover 3, Scituate 2: The Hawks won a Patriot League game on the road.

Norwell 5, Carver 0: The Clippers (4-0-5, 4-0-2 South Shore League) got goals from Maeve Ross, Ava DeCouto, Smilla Spasic, Olivia Fiorella and Paige Flanders.

BOYS SOCCER

Abington 5, Mashpee 2: Trevor Grafton had a hat trick, giving him 12 goals on the season, as the Green Wave (7-3) won on the road. Iury Cassemeiro and Grafton staked Abington to a 2-0 halftime lead. After the Falcons tied it up, Grafton struck again for the winner. Chris Ferreira made it 4-2, and Grafton capped the scoring.

Silver Lake 3, Whitman Hanson 1: Owen Mackinnon scored twice, and Logan Harrington added a goal as the Lakers (5-3-1, 5-2-1 Patriot League) won on Senior Night. Drew Burns, Andrew Palma and Mackinnon had assists. Devin Walsh scored for W-H, and Finn McKenna and Cam Reader starred on defense in the loss.

Hanover 3, Scituate 0: Noah Hoffman scored twice, and Brian Bellerby added a goal for the host Hawks (5-3-2, 4-3-1 Patriot League). Goalkeeper James Solari posted his fourth shutout of the season.

Plymouth North 4, Marshfield 2: Ben Young scored twice, and Malachai Val and Pat Moore added single goals for the Blue Eagles. Lucas Malhagese, Bradlee Sorensen and Young had assists, and Kevin Riley, Drew Healy and Eric Godlewski played well.

Archbishop Williams 3, St. John Paul II 0: Antonio Guarino scored twice, and Wonnira Sumani added a goal for the Bishops (7-2). Senior captain Nate Morris recorded his seventh shutout of the season, and freshman Luca Greco anchored a strong defense.

Oliver Ames 8, Taunton 3: Casey Milliken scored four goals, giving him eight for the season, as the Tigers (7-0-2, 7-0-1 Hockomock League) rolled at home. Andrew Martins added two goals, and Jason Zalis and Mirray DaSilva also scored.

Randolph 4, Hull 0: Jonas Norsica and Angelot Brun each scored twice, and goalkeeper Hugo Teixeira posted the clean sheet for the host Blue Devils (3-4-2).

Bishop Fenwick 4, Cardinal Spellman 2: Nate Monteiro and Caleb Green each had a goal and an assist for the Cardinals in the loss.

Canton 5, King Philip 3: Jake McCabe had a hat trick, Owen Morissey scored his first varsity goal, and Vlad Francouer also found the net for the Bulldogs.

FIELD HOCKEY

Carver 3, Wareham 1: Natalie Waitkus had a pair of goals and an assist for the Crusaders (5-2-3). Ava Camelo scored, and Ashleigh Johnson and Kaleigh Shurtleff added assists. Liv Cornock, Jenna Newell, Izzy Mercer and Johnson were defensive standouts.

Marshfield 4, Norwell 1: Erin Boyd scored twice for the visiting Rams (4-3-1), and Maegan Condon and Dahlia Fahey added goals. Maddie McDonald scored for Norwell.

Wellesley 2, Braintree 0: The Wamps (8-2) had their six-game win streak snapped at home.

GIRLS VOLLEYBALL

Whitman-Hanson 3, Plymouth North 2: The Panthers (8-4, 6-4 Patriot League) rallied for a 19-25, 23-25, 25-12, 25-19, 15-11 win. Senior captain Ruby Scriven averaged 4 kills per set, and sophomore Andrea Mulligan notched 5 in the final set alone, including on the winning point.

Oliver Ames 3, Taunton 1: Sarah Hilliard had 21 kills and 3 aces as the visiting Tigers rallied, 22-25, 25-7, 25-20, 25-21. Clare Kavoulis (39 assists), Maddie Homer (17 digs), Courtney Raymond (8 aces, 5 kills) and Addyson Smock (6 kills, 4 solo blocks) also starred.

Milton 3, Norwell 1: The Wildcats posted a non-league win, 20-25, 25-23, 25-8, 25-23. Norwell's Sarah Pegurri (4 blocks) and Izzy Woodman each had 8 kills, and E.J. Guarachi added 24 digs, 6 assists 2 kills and 2 aces.

Cardinal Spellman 3, Rockland 0: Jackie McAlpine had a strong match from the service line, and Ava Loud and Mikayla Bush were standouts at the net for the Cardinals.

Quincy 3, Hanover 0: The Presidents (8-4) had 18 aces, 26 kills and 41 digs as a team in the 25-12, 25-17, 29-27 win. Alexa Rowe and Tia MacVarish played well for Hanover.

Abington 3, Holbrook 1: The Green Wave won a non-league match, 25-15, 20-25, 27-25, 25-13.

Hingham 3, Silver Lake 1: Mathilde Megard led the Harborwomen to a 25-7, 25-11, 20-25, 25-6 win.

Stoughton 3, Milford 1: The Black Knights (4-4) won on the road.

North Quincy 3, Scituate 0: The Raiders (11-1) won, 25-16, 25-22, 25-21.

BOYS GOLF

Bridgewater-Raynham 144, Brockton 97: At D.W. Field Golf Course in Brockton, Nick Rossi was the medalist for B-R (8-3, 7-0 Southeast Conference), shooting 2-over-par 38 and earning 25 points in Stableford scoring. Teammates Justin Peters, Richie Thayer, Liam Barry and Matt Lydon all shot 39 to earn 24 points each. Jason Coughlin shot 40 for 23 points.

Norwell 126, Carver 122: Senior captains Matt Dassatti and Griffin Link each shot 2-under 25 to power the Clippers (10-2). Carver's Ryan Vincent also shot 25, and Finn Manning was at 28.

Canton 160, Stoughton 173: Brendan Tourgee (38) was low medalist for the Bulldogs in the win. Huck McCready (40), Matt Anderson (41) and Gavin McMahon (41) also played well.

East Bridgewater 120, Rockland 75: Luke Parry carded a round of 4-over, scoring 23 points, to take medalist honors for EB (11-0). Matt Werra (22 points), Cole Redder (21), Jake Redder (21) and Sean Gurney (18) also played well.

Scituate 257, Quincy 289: At Furnace Brook Golf Club, freshman Henry Gack was low medalist with a 41. Meyer Gack shot 42, and Andrew Belsan and Stephen Marshall each carded 43 for the Sailors (12-2, 10-2 Patriot League).

Duxbury 235, Whitman-Hanson 276: Andrew Curley shot 37, and Owen Hamilton and Zach Hamilton each carded 39 to lead the Dragons to a home win at Duxbury Yacht Club. Cooper Britton shot 41 for W-H.

Archbishop Williams 191, Cardinal Spellman 43: At D.W. Field Golf Course, Adam Thomas led the Bishops with a 38, and Andrew Marcotte and Brady Sullivan each shot 39.

Oliver Ames 144, Franklin 145: Michael McGinnis, Daniel Paul, David Rodgers and Sean Kearns all shot 36 to lead OA (10-0) to a narrow win.

Hingham 234, Marshfield 248: Bobby Peirce, Drew Golden and Victor San Antonio each shot 38 to lead the Harbormen (10-0). Jack Keane also shot 38 for Marshfield.

West Bridgewater 4.5, South Shore Tech 4.5: The Mayflower Athletic Conference match ended in a tie.

GIRLS CROSS COUNTRY

Norwell 15, Carver 50: Hallie Robitaille led a 1-5 sweep for the host Clippers. Monica Smith finished second, followed by Meredith Cassidy, Brigid Costello and Ally Martin.

BOYS CROSS COUNTRY

Norwell 18, Carver 37: Thomas Corbett won the race for the host Clippers, and teammate Sam Foster edged out Carver's Luke Holden for second place. Norwell's Connor Reidy was fourth.
