HIGH SCHOOL ROUNDUP: Bridgewater-Raynham tops Brockton in boys, girls basketball

Bridgewater-Raynham won both basketball matchups against Brockton on Tuesday night.

In boys action, the Trojans edged the Boxers at home, 52-50, behind a balanced offense led by Dylan Rodriguez, who scored 10 points. Noah Perry-Lewis and D.J. Overall each added 8 points for B-R (2-6 overall, 1-1 in the Southeast Conference).

Deshawn Faulk had 7 points in the win, and Luke Barry (6), Jake Golden (5) and Tyler Cattoggio (4) also chipped in for the Trojans.

In the girls game, B-R won on the road, 51-34, as Natalia Hall-Rosa had a career-high 29 points, plus 14 rebounds, 4 steals and a pair of assists for the Trojans (5-2, 2-0 Southeast Conference).

Brenna Woodbury (12 points, 8 rebounds, 7 steals, 3 assists), Reese Bartlett (4 points, 4 rebounds, 3 steals, 3 assists) and Jenna Micciantuono (4 points, 5 rebounds, 2 assists) also had strong games for B-R, which used a 19-2 run to pull away.

Brockton (3-4, 1-2) was led by senior Naveiha Madison (13 points, 2 rebounds, 2 steals), freshman Ashya Dingle (9 points, 6 rebounds, 2 assists) and junior Tajeiha Madison (5 points, 2 rebounds). Junior Sunali Carter (10 rebounds) and senior Ngozi Nwosu (12 rebounds) were strong on the boards.

BOYS BASKETBALL

Abington 62, Hull 35: Connor Pease had 18 points and 14 rebounds to lead the Green Wave (5-3) to a road win over the Pirates (2-6). Kingston Maxwell (14 points) and Tyler Staiti (12 points) also starred for Abington. Hull was led by Tommy Burke (11 points) and Aidan Murphy (10 points). The South Shore League matchup was part of the EM20 Games, a fundraising boys/girls doubleheader for the Emma Ryan Memorial Fund. Emma Ryan, a three-sport athlete and honor-roll student at Hull, died at the age of 15 in October 2016.

Archbishop Williams 94, Boston Latin Academy 61: Junior Tristan Rodriguez hit nine 3-pointers en route to 34 points as the Bishops (8-0) won at home. Senior Josh Campbell (Plymouth) added 20 points and 8 rebounds, Lorenzo Jackson (East Bridgewater) chipped in with 14 points, and Charlie Conners had 11 points.

St. John’s Prep 74, BC High 42: BC High (1-6) lost on the road.

Wellesley 53, Braintree 32: The Wamps lost at home in Bay State Conference action.

Canton 52, Milford 46: Junior Zaza Francoeur scored 18 points to lead the host Bulldogs (5-3). Junior Jamaal McConnell chipped in with 9 points.

East Bridgewater 55, Carver 45: The Vikings won at home in South Shore League action. Carver (7-2) was led by JJ Grimes (17 points) and Tyler Lennox (10).

Arlington Catholic 70, Cardinal Spellman 66: Marvin Petit-Frere scored 19 points and grabbed 11 rebounds, but the Cardinals lost on the road. Luke McSharry added 16 points.

Whitman-Hanson 75, Duxbury 64: Sophomore Ryan Baker (24 points) and freshman Isaiah Bean Brittian (18 points) led the Panthers (6-2, 5-1) to a Patriot League home win. Senior captain Drew Daley added 14 points and took two charges.

Scituate 67, Hanover 57: Michael Porter scored 15 points to lead the Sailors to a Patriot League home win. Ryan Dunn and Brian Good each added 9 points, and Kyle Mullen and Jimmy Tolton had 8 each. James Ritchie had a career-high 19 points for Hanover (3-4), and David Quinlan added 10 points and 16 rebounds.

Hingham 65, Silver Lake 53: The Harbormen beat the Lakers at home in Patriot League action.

Marshfield 66, Plymouth North 48: KJ Greer (19 points), James Molloy (18) and Jake Brilliant (13) led the Rams (7-0, 6-0) to a Patriot League home win. Senior Nick Marel led North (3-6, 2-4) with 14 points. Conor Jepson and Cody Quinn each added 10, and Rilee Garsh chipped in 8.

Middleboro 68, Rockland 38: Jacob Briggs scored 26 points to lead the Sachems (6-3) to a South Shore League home win. Matt Youngquist (11 points) and Nick Marzelli (10 points) also starred.

Attleboro 60, Oliver Ames 55: The Tigers lost at home in Hockomock League action.

Needham 73, Milton 36: The Wildcats dropped a Bay State Conference home game.

Plymouth South 60, North Quincy 54: Junior guard Justin LaChance had 27 points and 9 rebounds to lead South (5-1) to a Patriot League home win. Liam Davis added 12 points, and Declan Davis and Jesse Hayes each chipped in 9 points. For NQ (6-2, 5-1), senior guard Zach Taylor had 25 points, 6 rebounds, 3 assists and 3 steals, and senior guard Nate Caldwell added 11 points.

Pembroke 72, Quincy 47: The Titans beat the Presidents at home in Patriot League action.

Stoughton 55, North Attleboro 53 (OT): Jayden Costa-Haywood scored 19 points, and Liam Pearl added 15 as the Black Knights won a Hockomock League home game.

Walpole 72, Weymouth 46: The Wildcats lost a Bay State Conference road game.

GIRLS BASKETBALL

Abington 51, Hull 39: Ella Williamson had 18 points, 3 steals and a pair of rebounds to lead the Green Wave (6-4) to a road win. Wellesley 41, Braintree 25: The Wamps lost a Bay State Conference road game.

Milford 50, Canton 44: Samya DaSilva scored 22 points for the Bulldogs in the road loss.

Arlington Catholic 49, Cardinal Spellman 32: The Cardinals lost at home in Catholic Central League action.

Cohasset 60, Randolph 20: Junior Sarah Chenette scored 18 points as the Skippers won a South Shore League road game. Sophomores Ella Otfinoski and Natalia Kluza had strong games off the bench.

East Bridgewater 49, Carver 31: Senior Chloe Lang scored 18 points, and freshman Emma Farrell added 14 as the Vikings (5-4, 3-2) won a South Shore League road game. Junior Reese Neale was a defensive standout.

Whitman-Hanson 50, Duxbury 32: Sophomore Taryn Leonard scored a game-high 19 points as the Panthers (6-3, 6-0) won a Patriot League road game. Sophomore Cassidy Briggs and freshman Dylan Hurley each chipped in 10 points. Amanda Donovan led Duxbury with 14 points.

Hanover 49, Scituate 45: The Hawks won a Patriot League home game. For Scituate, Emilia Rojik had 20 points, 6 rebounds and a pair of blocks, and Grace Love added 7 points, 7 rebounds and 5 blocks.

Plymouth North 42, Marshfield 27: Jasmyne Fillippini scored 12 points and Sophia Allen added 8 as the Blue Eagles beat the Rams at home.

Rockland 59, Middleboro 38: Zariah Ottley (12 points, 5 assists), Maggie Elie (12 assists) and Sydney Blaney (10 points) led the host Bulldogs (7-2, 5-0) over the Sachems (6-5) in South Shore League action.

Attleboro 57, Oliver Ames 50: Freshman Avery Gamble scored 18 points for OA in the road loss. Kaydance Derba added 14 points, Sarah Hilliard scored 10 of her 11 points after halftime, and junior center Katherine Farley provided a spark off the bench with 7 rebounds.

Needham 51, Milton 41: Steph Needham scored 17 points for Milton in the Bay State Conference road loss. Kate Karimbakas added 7 points, 5 steals and 3 assists.

North Quincy 61, Plymouth South 46: Ava Bryan scored 17 first-half points and finished with a double-double (22 points, 10 rebounds) as the Raiders (3-6, 3-3) won a Patriot League home game against the Panthers. Molly Toland (11 points), Autumn O'Campos (8 points, 10 rebounds), Mary Saccoach (9 points) and Jill Jaehnig (8 points) also played well. Bridget Capone was a defensive standout.

Quincy 42, Pembroke 34: The Presidents (7-1) won a Patriot League home game.

North Attleboro 42, Stoughton 31: The Black Knights lost a Hockomock League road game.

Walpole 55, Weymouth 32: The Wildcats lost a Bay State Conference home game despite strong performances from junior Meg Doyle (15 points, 8 rebounds, 7 steals) and sophomore Ainsley Weber (10 points, 9 rebounds).

GIRLS GYMNASTICS

Falmouth/Mashpee/Barnstable 141.9, Notre Dame Academy 139.05: NDA lost on the road despite posting a season-high score. Katie McCormack was second in the all-around (36.65), vault (9.25), beam (9.1) and floor (9.3). She tied for first on bars (9.1). Sophia Chavez was third on bars (8.7), and Emily Lembo took third on floor (9.0).

BOYS INDOOR TRACK & FIELD

Archbishop Williams 56, Bishop Fenwick 16: At the Reggie Lewis Center, Jack Paula won the 55 meters (:6.91), 300m (:39.41) and long jump (19-6) to lead Archies (1-2) to their first victory of the season. Other winners for Williams: Nolan Stone (1,000m, 3:03.89); Gianvito Montillo (mile, 4:59.05); Joe Mento (600m, 1:41.82); and the 4x400m relay of Eamonn Fennell, Nick Antonellis, Stone and Montillo in 4:23.68.

Dartmouth 54, Brockton 46: In the loss, Brockton's Christensen Paul won the 55 meters in 6.81 seconds.

GIRLS INDOOR TRACK & FIELD

Bishop Fenwick 56, Archbishop Williams 35: At the Reggie Lewis Center, Archies (2-1) got wins from Kaitlyn Burke (55m, :7.99); Maddie Hussey (2-mile, 12:18.77) and the 4x200m relay of Erin O'Toole, Burke, Katie Santamaria and Allison Flynn in 1:56.97.

BOYS SWIMMING/DIVING

Bridgewater-Raynham 93, New Bedford 78: The Trojans (5-0) won on Senior Night, getting two individual wins each from senior captains Cam Hogg (100 butterfly, 500 freestyle) and Jack Werb (200 IM, 100 breaststroke). The pair also swam on two first-place relays -- the 200 medley with Cooper Hammond and Cole Bridges and the 400 free with Hammond and Dante Kirika. Other winners on the night included Bridges (200 free, 100 free) and Dante Kirika (100 backstroke).

Pembroke 84, Silver Lake 63: Senior Ben Lynch won the 200 freestyle in 1:57.97 for the Titans (1-1), qualifying for the sectional meet in Beverly on Feb. 12. Lynch also won the 100 breaststroke (1:10.28). Freshman Ryan Kanya won the 200 IM (2:31.16) and the 100 backstroke (1:06.50).

GIRLS SWIMMING/DIVING

Pembroke 84, Silver Lake 61: Brielle Shelley won the 100 butterfly (1:08.75) and 100 breaststroke (1:20.07) to keep the Lakers within 5 points going into the 200 free relay, but Pembroke's Caitlin Flaherty took the 100 backstroke (1:24.32) to secure the win for the Titans. Eighth-grader Maeve Gleeson and senior Kristen Farrell each had first- and second-place finishes to stake Pembroke to an early lead.

New Bedford 92, Bridgewater-Raynham 76: In the loss for the Trojans (4-1), senior captain Jessie McNeil continued her undefeated regular-season win streak dating back to freshman year by winning the 200 IM and 500 freestyle, qualifying for D1 states in both events. Junior captain Eva Chaves won the 100 backstroke.
