HIGH SCHOOL ROUNDUP: Brockton's Christensen Paul wins Division 1 title

There were several strong showings from local athletes at the Division 1 state indoor track and field meet on Friday, but only Brockton's Christensen Paul walked away as a state champ.

Paul won the long jump title with a leap of 21-10.25. His teammate Lucas Andrade was fourth in the high jump.

The Weymouth boys had the highest finish among local schools as a team, taking eighth behind senior Brandon Riley's big day.

Riley took sixth in the 55m, fifth in the 55m hurdles and third in the long jump. David Manfredi placed sixth in the mile and fifth in the 2-mile.

BC High's Christopher Larnard finished second in the mile while setting a new school record (4:16.99).

Braintree was the highest local finisher on the girls side, taking 14th place. Senior Bridget Lee was fourth in the long jump and also combined with Tessa Marston, Catherine McPhee and Caitlyn Chang to place fourth in the 4x400m relay. Caitlyn Chang took fifth in 1,000m.

Weymouth's Gracie Richard placed third in the 1,000m and also helped the Wildcats 4x800m relay team (Isabella Galusha, Meghan Connolly and Kate Carnes) take third.

Salma Boukhtam (fifth in 600m) and Aluna Coogan-Coyne (sixth in mile) both placed for Quincy/North Quincy.

BOYS BASKETBALL

Archbishop Williams 74, Bishop Stang 57: Lorenzo Jackson posted a double-double (15 points, 12 rebounds) for the Bishops (18-0). Josh Campbell (15 points), Andres Espaillat (14) and Tristan Rodriguez (12) all finished in double digits.

Hull 64, South Shore Tech 42: Tyler Sordillo (15 points) and Tommy Burke (14) led the way for the Pirates in the win. Jesse Lyons scored 22 points in the loss for the Vikings (8-12) while Brandon LaFleur added 9.

Foxboro 52, Oliver Ames 31: The Tigers lost the Hockomock League game.

Duxbury 51, Falmouth 47: Trevor Jones connected on seven 3-pointers and finished with 23 points as the Dragons (10-10) clinched their first tournament appearance in eight years.

Sharon 75, Stoughton 73: Jayden Costa-Heywood (20 points) and Matt Greenspoon (16) played well in the loss.

New Bedford 60, Brockton 53: The Boxers dropped the Southeast Conference game.

Bridgewater-Raynham 66, Durfee 55: The Trojans won on Senior Night as Luke Barry scored 17 points and handed out 10 assists. Dylan Rodriguez chipped in 16 points, 5 assists and 5 rebounds. Chase Balutis finished with 10 points and 4 steals. Jake Golden (8 points, 8 rebounds, 4 blocks), Kev Lambert (7 points) Marc Robergeau (3 points) also chipped in.

Cardinal Spellman 71, Dover-Sherborn 68: The Cardinals won the non-league game as Jaydan Exalus scored 30 points and pulled down 10 rebounds. Kristian Simpson added 16 points while D'Anthony Amado, Luke McSharry, and Umarie Murray all played well.

Mansfield 61, Canton 39: Caden Mirliani scored 12 points for the Bulldogs (10-9).

Norton 72, West Bridgewater 59: The Wildcats lost the non-league game.

Weymouth 75, Newton South 56: Gill Dolan scored a career-high 33 points as the Wildcats clinched a tournament berth for the first time since 2014. Edric Louissaint chipped in 17 points and Cam Nordstrom added 11.

Randolph 67, Southeastern 40: Isaiah Michel (18 points), Jordan Nash (12) and Mahkhi Barnes (11) led the way for the Blue Devils. Tristan Ortega scored 12 points in the loss.

GIRLS BASKETBALL

Thayer Academy 69, Milton Academy 47: The Tigers defeated the Mustangs.

Blue Hills 39, Old Colony 34: Freshman Ally Johnson scored 11 points to lead the way for the Warriors (18-2). Kathleen Murphy and Bridget Devine both scored 9 points.

Hull 53, Collegiate Charter School of Lowell 23: The Pirates improve to 6-12 as Lucy Peters scored a game-high 16 points. Fallon Ryan added 12 and Emily Punchard had 10.

Marshfield 45, Silver Lake 39: Sadie Ellwood led the way for the Rams with 20 points while Hailey McPhee added 12. Marshfield finishes the regular season at 14-6 and on an eight-game winning streak.

Duxbury 34, Falmouth 19: The Dragons used a smothering defensive effort to get the win. Skye Cerow scored 11 points while Lyla Peters, Kendall Quinn and Amanda Donovan each scored 6 points.

Bridgewater-Raynham 49, Durfee 38: Natalia Hall-Rosa (24 points, 13 rebounds, 5 steals) and Reese Bartlett (12 points, 12 rebounds) had double-doubles for the Trojans (15-3). B-R is 32-0 in league play since the Southeast Conference was formed.

Carver 65, Boston Prep Charter 32: Sophomore Julia Grimes starred with 27 points and 12 rebounds for the Crusaders. Sophomore Jadyn Sotomayor added 14 points and 8 rebounds.

Mansfield 47, Canton 33: The Bulldogs lost the Hockomock League game.

Foxboro 58, Oliver Ames 52: Kamryn Derba scored a team-high 18 points in the loss while Annie Reilly (12) and Avery Gamble (11) also finished in double digits. Maddie Homer added 7 points, 4 rebounds and a strong defensive effort.

Sharon 59, Stoughton 56: The Black Knights lost the Hockomock League game.

Brockton 50, New Bedford 47: The Boxers won the Southeast Conference game on Senior Night. Naveiha Madison (12 points, 6 rebounds), Ngozi Nwoso (9 points, 15 rebounds), Tajeiha Madison (12 points) and Naveah King (6 points, 14 rebounds) led the way for the Boxer

GIRLS HOCKEY

Canton 2, Norwood 1: Ellie Bohane and Audrey Koen scored for the Bulldogs in the win.

St. Joe's 3, Stoughton 2: Amanda Reid scored her first goal while Ava Buckley scored the other goal. Molly Corvino and Ella Cummings had assists.

Nobles 1, Thayer Academy 0: The Tigers dropped the ISL game.

Notre Dame Academy 3, Malden Catholic 2: The Cougars improve to 11-5.

BOYS HOCKEY

Norwell 8, West Bridgewater/East Bridgewater 1: Austin Shea scored four goals for the Clippers (18-1), the last of which was the 50th of his career. Timmy Ward handed out five assists and added a goal. That brings his point total to 50 on the season. Quinn Simmons, Nolan Petrucelli and Mike Hanlon added solo tallies.

Middleboro 6, Mashpee/Monomoy 2: The Sachems improved to 5-11-1 as Levon Mulready had two goals. Wyatt Goyetta and Sam Steinman each had a goal and an assist.

Southeastern/Bristol-Plymouth 7, Apponequet 2: John Whalen had a hat trick, and Cam Wilbur, Dalton Ghelfi, Nick Sturdevant and Alex Baker each scored once for the Hawks (9-6-1). Goaltender Jake Schofield made 16 saves in the win.
