HIGH SCHOOL ROUNDUP: Cronin, Leander combine for 13 goals to lead Rockland boys lacrosse

The Rockland High boys lacrosse team picked up a South Shore League win over Middleboro on Wednesday, 16-10.

Justin Cronin led the way as he scored 7 goals and added a pair of assists for the Bulldogs. Lucas Leander had a 9-point performance (6 goals, 3 assists), and Tyler Boehner chipped in with 3 goals and 2 assists.

BOYS LACROSSE

Abington 8, East Bridgewater 7: Hunter Grafton had a hat trick and an assist to lead the Green Wave to a narrow South Shore League win. Pat Prewitt (2 goals, 2 assists), Evan St. Martin (2 goals), Zach Buccigross (goal, 3 assists) and Diego Fleites (assist) also contributed.

Canton 11, Oliver Ames 8: Sam Carlino scored 8 goals, and freshman Dillon Albert struck twice in his first varsity start for the Bulldogs. Ben Reardon (2 goals, 3 assists) and Ryan Jaco (3 goals, 2 assists) each had 5-point games for OA in the loss while Noah Isleib stopped 21 shots.

Archbishop Williams 7, St. Mary's (Lynn) 6: Nick Buccella and Zac McClay each scored twice, and Mike Batchelder, Barry Page and Jake Cara-Donna added goals for the Bishops. McClay netted the winner, assisted by defenseman Shamus O’Toole, and goaltender Will Lacey made 18 saves.

Governor's 12, Thayer Academy 7: Colin Whitmore had a hat trick in the loss for the Tigers.

GIRLS LACROSSE

Norwell 12, Scituate 7: Jane Smith had 4 goals and 7 draw controls to lead the Clippers (4-2) over the Sailors in non-league action. Danielle Cox (2 goals, assist) and Charlise Cox (2 goals) also starred.

Abington 8, East Bridgewater 7 (OT): Rebecca Rix tallied the overtime winner for the Green Wave. Olivia Maguire, Natalie Van Luling and Molly Buccigross also scored, and goalie Brielle Dejesus had a strong game.

Canton 12, Oliver Ames 8: Emily McCabe had 4 goals and 3 assists to lead the Bulldogs.

Thayer Academy 9, Milton Academy 5: The Tigers won an Independent School League game.

Bishop Fenwick 12, Cardinal Spellman 5: Kathryn Lysko scored a hat trick while Erin O'Donnell added 2 goals and 2 assists in the loss. Joy Sayah stopped 15 shots.

SOFTBALL

Archbishop Williams 3, St. Mary's (Lynn) 2: Jill Ondrick earned the win and struck out 7 for the host Bishops (7-3). She helped her own cause by hitting a 2-run home run. Jess Keefe (double, run) and Alyssa Burke (RBI, 2 steals) also contributed.

Hanover 15, Whitman-Hanson 3: The Hawks (7-1, 6-0 Patriot League) had 16 hits and were led by Erin Condon (3 hits, 3 runs) and McKenzie Foley (3 hits, 2 doubles, 2 RBI). Freshman catcher Abby Hanna belted a 2-run home run. Abby Smith picked up the win in the circle and had 2 hits and 2 RBI.

Bridgewater-Raynham 18, Durfee 6 (6 inn.): Emma Talpey led the Trojans offense with 4 hits and 4 RBI. Taylor Reid added 3 hits and 2 RBI. Taylor Feist and Ky Hicks each drove in 2 runs, and Lily Welch worked 4 innings, allowing 1 hit and no runs, for the win.

South Shore Tech 23, Blue Hills 10: McKenzie Jepsen went 4 for 4 with 2 RBI while Mia Brady was 5 for 6 with a double, triple and 3 RBI for the Vikings. Tiana MacDonald had 4 hits, including a home run.

Cardinal Spellman 12, Bishop Fenwick 9: Ava Loud homered, and Emma Barnes (3 hits, 3 RBI), Yamili Fernandez (3 hits, 2 RBI) and Roslyn Quinn (2 hits) also starred for the Cardinals. Ava Nabstedt earned the win with 3 relief innings, allowing 2 runs with 5 strikeouts.

Holbrook 19, Westport 4 (5 inn.): Winning pitcher Taylor Dolan struck out 12 and was 3 for 4 with 3 runs and an RBI for the Bulldogs (8-0), who got big offensive games from Candace Sumner (3 for 5, double, 2 runs, 2 RBI), Holly Davis (2 for 2, 2 runs, 3 RBI), Mary Walker (2 for 4, 2 runs, 4 RBI) and Kiley Dolan (2 for 3, home run, 2 runs, 2 RBI).

Milton 9, Natick 5: Alona Lynch earned the complete-game win in the circle for the Wildcats (4-1), allowing 3 earned runs with 6 strikeouts. She was 3 for 4 at the plate with a grand slam and 5 RBI. Christina McANulty and Mackenzie Mullaney each was 2 for 4, Lila Glenn was 2 for 3 with a home run, and Hannah Andrews had a triple.

West Bridgewater 19, Bishop Connolly 10: Amanda Jacques was 4 for 4 with a home run, 3 runs scored and 3 RBI for the Wildcats. Neala Boyd (2 for 2, 2 walks, 2 runs, 3 RBI), Fallon Smith (1 for 5, run, 3 RBI), Mia Harrington (3 for 5, 3 runs, 2 RBI) and Lilly Martel (3 for 3, 2 runs, RBI) also starred. McKenzie Craig got the win, pitching 4 1/3 innings.

Pembroke 11, Hingham 4: Olivia Skeiber went 4 for 4 in the win while Jordan Shane and Hannah Cibotti each had 3 RBI.

Thayer Academy 12, Milton Academy 11: Hannah Gondelman earned the win in the circle for the Tigers, and Alena Mulhern had a double and a triple.

New Bedford 13, Brockton 5: The Boxers (4-3) lost on the road.

Quincy 6, Duxbury 2: The Presidents topped the Green Dragons.

Plymouth North 20, North Quincy 8: The Blue Eagles posted a Patriot League win.

BASEBALL

Hingham 4, Pembroke 1: Craig Sandler allowed 1 hit and no earned runs over 5 innings for the Harbormen. Anthony Frabizio worked 2 hitless innings with 3 strikeouts for the save. Bobby Falvey (2 for 3, double, 2 RBI), James Rozanitis (RBI double) and Aidan Devlin (hit, 2 runs, 2 walks) sparked the offense.

Hanover 3, Whitman-Hanson 1: Evan Hebblewaithe (7 innings, 4 hits, 9 strikeouts) got out of a bases-loaded jam in the seventh inning to preserve the win for the Hawks (4-2). Hebblewaithe is 2-1 on the season. W-H's Aidan Barry, Connor Sottak and Braden Kain combined to hold the Hawks to 1 earned run for the Panthers (3-4, 3-2 Patriot League).

Plymouth South 9, Marshfield 1: Tommy Sullivan earned the complete-game win, striking out 13 with no walks, as the Panthers topped the Rams in Patriot League action. He also was 2 for 4 with 2 RBI. Matt Cassidy was 1 for 3 with a triple and an RBI.

Natick 6, Milton 2 (10 inn.): Despite a strong pitching performance from Brian Foley, the Wildcats (8-2) had their eight-game winning streak snapped.

Weymouth 12, Wellesley 1: Gill Dolan and Zach Delgrosso both homered for the Wildcats in the Bay State Conference win. Andrew Ferguson struck out 3 over 5 innings to get the victory.

Plymouth North 12, North Quincy 8: For NQ in the loss, John Lynch had 3 hits and scored twice, and Charlie Ambroult (2 hits, 2 runs, RBI, 2 steals), Scott Ritz (2-run double) and Zach Taylor (2 hits, run, RBI, steal) also played well.

Bridgewater-Raynham 5, Durfee 0: Mike Logiudice threw a 4-hit shutout, and Luke Barry and James Nichols each went 1 for 1 with an RBI.

BC High 5, St. John's (Shrewsbury) 4: Cole Bohane drove in a pair of runs for the Eagles.

West Bridgewater 8, Bishop Connolly 0: James Sheedy tossed a no-hitter while only walking 1 and striking out 5. Will Maider led the offense with 2 hits and 4 RBI.

Quincy 7, Duxbury 2: Drew Boretti tossed a complete game and struck out 10 for the Presidents.

St. Mary's (Lynn) 5, Archbishop Williams 1: Greg Mayo struck out 10 over 5 innings in the loss for the Bishops.

Avon 16, Bristol Aggie 2: Avon scored 11 runs in the first inning and cruised to a win. Jordan Medeiros, Zach Mayo and Ryan Luddy combined for 8 strikeouts on the mound.

Norwell 9, Maimonides 2: The Clippers posted a non-league win.

New Bedford 4, Brockton 2: The Boxers are 4-4.

GIRLS TENNIS

Oliver Ames 5, Taunton 0: Hannah Farber (first), Mia Corradini (second) and Elizabeth O'Brien (third) swept the singles matches. Morgan Vasiliou/Caroline Peper (first) and Marina Mierzwinski/ Olivia Querzoli (second) took the doubles matches.

Braintree 3, Newton North 2: Senior Sophia Tang prevailed in three sets to secure the win for the Wamps.

Hanover 4, Whitman-Hanson 1: Alysa Tobias won at third singles to tally the Panthers' lone point.

Milton Academy 10, Thayer Academy 5: The Mustangs won an ISL match.

Duxbury 5, Quincy 0: The Dragons won a Patriot League match.

BOYS TENNIS

Whitman-Hanson 3, Hanover 2: Tristan Baker/Zachary Lindsay (first doubles), Mateo Santalucia (third singles) and Daniel McDevitt/Brady Wright (second doubles) picked up points for the Panthers (3-4).

Hingham 5, Pembroke 0: Thomas Fabrizio, Teddy Reilly and Evan Lynch all won in straight sets in singles for the Harbormen, who swept the doubles with the teams of Ben LaRhette/Nick Dubois and Riley Thompson/Liam Arnold.

Oliver Ames 5, Taunton 0: Freshmen Alex Efremidas and Patrick Dolan won at first doubles, 6-3, 6-3.

GIRLS GOLF

Duxbury 6, Scituate 0: Charlotte MacCallum, Tierney Regan, Harper Capilli, Lucy Laviolette, Grace Landolfi and Olivia Kyriakides all won their matches.

Hingham 5.5, Cohasset .0.5: The Harborwomen won the match at South Shore Country Club.

Braintree 4, Saugus 3: The Wamps won at Braintree Municipal Golf Course.

GIRLS TRACK & FIELD

Bridgewater-Raynham 83, Brockton 53: Nethica Auguste won the 200m and triple jump for B-R, which also got wins from Taylor Escudero (mile), Kelsie Dessaps (long jump), Omoye Odiah (400m hurdles), Makena Columbus (100m), Brianna Reid (400m), Lydia Taccini (100m hurdles), Kayla O’Hara (800m) and the 4x100m relay of Columbus, Auguste, Odiah and Priscilla Anjos.

Norwell 77, Abington 59: Maria Wood (100m, 200m) and Jackie Earner (mile, 2-mile) were double winners for Abington in the loss.

BOYS TRACK & FIELD

Brockton 86, Bridgewater-Raynham 50: Malachi Johnson made his debut, winning both the long jump (20-6) and triple jump (38-2) for the Boxers. Derron Baker and Anthony Canuto tied for first in the high jump, helping Brockton sweep the event. Jason Wonodi won the both 100m (season-best :10.9) and 200m (:22.9). Mamadu Tchamo won the mile (4:58) and 800m (2:04.7), and Nick O'Connell won the 2-mile (10:57.4).
