HIGH SCHOOL ROUNDUP: D-Y girls volleyball win gives coach Dru Sisson her 200th win

Recently inducted into the Massachusetts Volleyball Coaches Association Hall of Fame, Dennis-Yarmouth High girls volleyball head coach Dru Sisson added another milestone with her 200th career at D-Y on Monday.

The Dolphins defeated Greater New Bedford in straight sets 25-20, 25-21, 25-13.

Grace Presswood had a good all-around game with 14 kills, three aces and 18 digs. Ava Pecorella added eight kills. Ellen Swanson finished with three kills and 15 digs. Vivian Castano dished out 27 assists and Eliana Castano tallied on two aces and 14 digs for D-Y (3-2).

VOLLEYBALL

Barnstable 3, Falmouth 0: Sadie Wellbeloved lead the Red Hawks offense with 24 assists and eight aces as they shutout the Clipeers 25-6, 25-13, 25-17.

Molly Gleason had 10 kills and Molly Fredo added seven kills. Charlotte Sullivan finished with six kills and junior middle hitter Alyssa McDowell had three kills in her first varsity start for Barnstable (4-0). Libero Logan Hurwitz lead the defense with 14 digs for the Red Hawks.

Nantucket 3, Sturgis East 0: Bianca Santos led the Whalers offense with 17 assists as they swept the Storm 25-15, 25-14, 25-16 to stay unbeaten. Kacey Riseborough had 10 kills and Kalina Natcheva added six kills for Nantucket

St. John Paul II 3, Sturgis West 1: Sophia Tropeano was everywhere as she finished with 10 assists, 12 aces, three kills and eight digs as the Lions beat the Navigators 25-14, 25-19, 19-25, 25-18. Molly Pulit contributed with 11 digs, three kills, two assists and an ace for JPII (4-1).

Atlantis Charter 3, Upper Cape 2: The Rams lost and fell to 0-3 on the season. Having strong performances were sophomore Ella Kerrigan, junior Laney Cooper and seniors Joan Guay, Amber Roberts and Sydney Pimental for Upper Cape.

Bourne 3, Dighton-Rehoboth 2: The Canalmen took the took Falcons to five sets and came out with a win as they beat them  25-18, 22-25, 25-19, 21-25, 15-7.

Sarah Sweeny had 26 digs, Mary Beria-Rowlands added 16 digs and Lily Russel finished with 17 digs for Bourne (2-3).

On offense, Nola Timo and Elena Timo combined for 23 kills and Quinn Hawkes had four timely kills for the Canalmen.

Sandwich 3, Nauset 1: The Blue Knights defeated the Warriors.

BOYS GOLF

Monomoy 4, Sturgis East 2: Kyle Richman (39), Christian Whittle (42), Braden Burke (48) and Cam Reeves each won their macthups for Monomoy, which remains unbeaten at 3-0 at Eastward Ho.

Tyler Harney (34) and Jameson Stec (35) each scored a point for Sturgis East (1-3).

Upper Cape 8, South Shore Voke 1: Connor McEntee shot a 31 and led the way for the Rams in a win over the Vikings at the Rockland Golf Course Par 27.

The rest of the scorers for Upper (4-1) were: Asher Graff (34), Matt Nawoichick (35), Zephyn Johnson (36), Billy Dunn (38) and Nolan Roach (44).

Duxbury 225, Barnstable 249: The Red Hawks lost their second consecutive match with a loss to the Dragons. Barnstable is 1-3 on the season.

Nauset 346, Nantucket 348: The Warriors barely beat the Whalers out for a close victory at Miaco.

FIELD HOCKEY

Bourne 5, Southeastern 0: Madison Sexton scored three goals for the Canelmen as they shut out the Hawks. Kellan Gaeke and Heather Lapworth each added a goal for Bourne (3-2-0).

Madigan Kelly, Lapworth and Taylor Dodge each had assists, Zoey Cardinal finished with six saves for her first varsity shutout in goal, and Anna Carafoli, Sophia Sheehy and Jayden Morrell had good games for the Canalmen.

Carver 6, Mashpee 0: Ayesha Shafi had 12 saves for the Falcons but it was not enough as they were shutout at home to the Crusaders. Mashpee remains winless on the season at 0-3-0.

Monomoy 5, Nantucket 0: Helen DiGiovanni scored two goals and added an assist for the Sharks in a shutout win over the Whalers to remain unbeaten.

Carly Dimock, Claire Hemeon and Susannah Brown each had a goal and Sam Clarke, Ella Reeves and Tessa Grodzicki each dished out an assist for Monomoy (4-0-0).

Ella Reeves, Cassadi Manchuk and Tristyn Williams all played well on the defensive line and limited Nantucket (1-3-0) to under 5 shots.

Barnstable 7, Bridgewater-Raynham 0: The Red Hawks continue a good start to the season with another shutout win, and have not allowed a single goal this season.

Ally McEneaneyled the offense with three goals (she has seven goals for the season), Alexa Garthee  had a goal and dished out three assists, and Sam Marczely, Sydney Thomas and Chloe Egan each had one goal for Barnstable (4-0-0).

Defensively, goalies Grace Bunnell, and Meili Raspante both continued their shutout streak, and Coralle Figeroa played well for the Red Hawks.

Martha’s Vineyard 7, Brockton 0: The Vineyarders get a good shutout over the Boxers for their second win of the season. They are 2-4-0.

Plymouth South 0, St. John Paul II 0: The Lions tied with the Panthers and are 0-1-1.

GIRLS SOCCER

Cape Cod Academy 9, Cape Tech 0: Jenna Marsh scored four goals on six shots that led the Seahawks to a win over the Crusaders.

Lili Shanahan, Ally Mooring, Olivia Daigle, Grace Murray and Lily Brooks each had a goal for Cape Cod Academy (3-1-0).

Nauset 3, Plymouth South 1:Margaret Manganaro, Caroline Kennard and Sophia Easley each scored a goal for the Warriors in a win over the Panthers.

Olivia Avellar and Ella McGrath each dished out an assist and Pepper Escher and Josi Boskus played in goal for Nauset (4-1-1).

St. John Paul II 3, Carver 1: Ella Cheney put things out of reach with just over 15 minutes to play off of a Teagan Forde assist for the Lions as they put away the Crusaders at Sandwich Water District.

Forde and Raegan Dillon each scored early in the first half to give the Lions a quick 2-0 lead for JPII (3-1-0).

Cohasset 2, Sandwich 2: Sandwich scored early with a goal from Zoe Richards off a Maddie Keyes cross. Cohasset tied it up late in the first half to even the score at 1-1.

Halfway through the second half, Lily Hofmann took a pass from Megan Jakubicka and drilled it in the upper 90 to give Sandwich the lead. However, Coahsset came back with six minutes to play to tie the score, 2-2.

Both goalkeepers Abi Kinney and Sophie Wanat played well. First-time starter Lauren Meyer for Sandwich (1-3-1) had a solid showing.

Bourne 0, Wareham 0: The Canalemen tied with the Vikings and are 1-3-2 on the early season.

BOYS SOCCER

Cape Tech 6, Cape Cod Academy 3: Jace Clady scored his first hat trick of the season to help the Seahawks to their first win of the season.

Lucas Gurski added a goal and an assist, Jacob Gardener and Alex Valdovinos each had a goal, Jason Neira tallied on an assist and captain Ethan Lopez and goalkeeper Fabricio Camero had good games for Cape Tech (1-2-0).
