HIGH SCHOOL ROUNDUP: Dennis-Yarmouth volleyball wins eighth straight

The Dennis-Yarmouth High girls volleyball team picked up their eighth consecutive win on Friday with a 3-0 sweep (25-20 25-23 25-14) of Danvers.

Grace Presswood and Ellen Swanson each had double-doubles for the Dolphins (12-3) in the win. Presswood had 15 kills and 18 assists, while Swanson had 10 kills and 15 digs.

Vivian Castano had 31 assists, while Eliana Castano had 20 digs. Mariah Eaton had five blocks.

In other high school action on Friday:

VOLLEYBALL

Nantucket 3, Nauset 0: The Whalers improve to 11-1 on the season after sweeping the Warriors (25-18, 25-13, 25-20). Setter Addy del Rosario Gomez recorded 23 assists in the win. The loss takes Nauset to 2-10.

Cardinal Spellman 3, Falmouth 2: The Clippers (2-10) went the distance with Cardinal Spellman but fell in five sets (17-25, 25-15, 11-25, 25-21, 8-15). Christina Femino had 15 assists, seven digs, and four kills to help spur the offense. Maci Griesbauer had 13 kills in the loss, and Delia Roulston had 15 digs.

Sturgis East 3, Sandwich 1: Natalie Fredricksen led the way for the Storm (5-6) with 22 assists, six kills, four aces, and three blocks, in the win over the Blue Knights (8-3). Diana Richards added 14 digs, Bee Rocha had eight kills, and Poppy Randall tallied six kills.

GIRLS SOCCER

Sandwich 2, Carver 0: Lily Hoffmann scored both goals for the Blue Knights in their win over Carver. Sophomores goalkeepers Sophia Wanat an Abi Kinney combined on the clean sheet. Sandwich improves to 5-5-2 on the year.
