HIGH SCHOOL ROUNDUP: Doyle's big night carries Weymouth girls basketball past Silver Lake

Megan Doyle almost had a triple-double for the Weymouth High girls basketball team on Thursday.

The junior forward finished with 22 points, 13 rebounds and 8 steals as the Wildcats beat Silver Lake on the road, 58-43.

Junior Callie Flynn added 14 points, 12 rebounds and 5 blocks, and senior captain Elleanna Santos chipped in with 9 points on her birthday.

GIRLS BASKETBALL

Norwell 61, Middleboro 37: Sophomore Maddie Oliver scored 21 points for the Clippers in a South Shore League road win. Senior Sara Cashin added 12 points, and sophomore Reagan Down and senior Chloe Richardson each chipped in 10. Middleboro (3-3) was led by Jessica Perry (12 points) and Hailey Iwanski (8 points).

Cohasset 44, Sandwich 30: Junior Sarah Chenette had 21 points and 10 rebounds to lead the Skippers to a home win. Angelina Grimes, Catherine Toomey and Abbie Goff had strong defensive games, and junior Laney Larsen hit two big 3-pointers in the second half.

Pembroke 38, Fontbonne Academy 36: Deanna Linscott scored 13 points, and Sophie Derochea added 10, including two late 3-pointers, as the Titans (3-1) got a non-league road win. Allie Dwyer chipped in with 8 points. For Fontbonne (3-1), Lilly Blow had 9 points and 13 rebounds, and Tressa Murphy added 9 points and 6 rebounds.

Abington 44, Randolph 17: Kenzie Litzenberger (12 points, 8 rebounds) and Ella Williamson (11 points) led the Green Wave (2-2, 1-2) to a South Shore League road win. Sophia Flanagan (4 points, 3 rebounds), Bella Abrams (3 points, 3 assists, 2 steals) and Shannon Varvitsiotis (5 rebounds) also starred.

Holbrook 47, Bristol-Plymouth 42: Senior captain Alyssa Slamin scored 33 points to lift the host Bulldogs to a Mayflower Athletic Conference win.

Milton 39, Hamilton-Wenham 38: Grace Henry scored 16 points and Stephanie Needham added 12 as the Wildcats won on the road. Christina McA’Nulty chipped in with 8 rebounds and 6 steals.

Rockland 45, Hull 26: Zariah Ottley had 14 points for the Bulldogs (3-1) in a South Shore League road win.

Marshfield 44, Hanover 32: The Rams won a Patriot League game at home. Olivia Damon led Hanover (1-2) with 9 points, and Mary Carven was a defensive standout.

Plymouth North 49, Barnstable 32: The Blue Eagles won a non-league road game.

Mashpee 59, Carver 40: The Crusaders lost on the road as Mashpee's Hialeah Turner-Foster scored 32 points, including No. 1,000 for her career.

BOYS BASKETBALL

North Quincy 62, Duxbury 55: Senior guard Zach Taylor scored a career-high 35 points (on 15-of-25 shooting) and added 5 rebounds and a pair of assists for NQ (3-0) in the Patriot League road win. Taylor's layup off a pass from senior forward Joe Bates with under a minute left sealed the victory. Senior guard Nate Caldwell had 9 points. For Duxbury, senior forward Andrew Curley had 19 points, 13 rebounds and 3 blocks, and sophomore guard Trevor Jones added 14 points.

Middleboro 68, Norwell 65 (OT): Matt Youngquist and Nick Marzelli each scored 18 points as the Sachems (1-3) won a South Shore League road game. Matt Leaver scored 20 points for the Clippers in the loss. Ryan Luccarelli added 17 points for Norwell, and Ronan Coffey chipped in 10.

Attleboro 59, Bridgewater-Raynham 54: Luke Barry scored 21 points, but the Trojans (1-2) lost at home.

Rockland 65, Hull 54: Patrick Moriarty and Hunter Wardwell each scored 16 points as the host Bulldogs (2-1, 1-1) posted a South Shore League win.

Marshfield 53, Hanover 45: James Molloy scored 20 points and the Rams (3-0) were sharp defensively in beating the Hawks on the road in Patriot League action. For Hanover, junior guard James Ritchie had a career-high 11 points, and senior forward David Quinlan pulled down 17 rebounds.

Carver 60, Mashpee 48: J.J. Grimes scored a game-high 19 points as the Crusaders (5-0) won at home. Robbie Peterson added 10 points, and Jameson Helms had 9.

Sharon 67, Plymouth North 51: Senior Hunter Byron scored 15 points, and junior Sean King added 10, but the Blue Eagles (2-2) lost a non-league game to Sharon (3-1) on the road.

Holbrook 61, Wayland 29: Owen Burke scored 25 points to lead the Bulldogs (3-1) to a non-league home win. Marquis Doboy-Lindsay (14 points), Allen Brown (12 points) and Jalik Fernades (8 points) all starred.

Wellesley 50, Braintree 43: The Wamps dropped a Bay State Conference road game.

Foxboro 72, Milton 52: The Wildcats lost a non-league game at home.

West Bridgewater 58, Monomoy 38: The Wildcats (3-0) won at home.

Canton 69, Southeastern 54: Senior Matt Chafin led the Bulldogs (2-2) with 20 points, and classmate Julius Hicks added 16 points on four 3-pointers. Junior Zaza Francoeur had 16 points. Canton plays Bishop Feehan at the Snowden Tournament on Dec. 28 at Milton High. Tristan Ortega scored 17 points for Southeastern.

BOYS HOCKEY

Canton 4, Hanover 1: The Bulldogs (3-0) beat the Hawks (2-2) at home in non-league action.

GIRLS INDOOR TRACK & FIELD

Weymouth 71, Walpole 29: Izzy Galusha won the 600 meters (1:45) and the high jump (4-6) to power the Wildcats (1-1). Weymouth also got wins from Izzy Carvalho (300m, :44.42), Gracie Richard (1,000m, 3:05), Ava Dewitt (mile, 5:29), Caroline Abbott (2-mile, 13:17) and Casey Dempsey (long jump, 15-6). The 4x200m relay team of Mia Mazzone, Isabelle Cummings, Carvalho and Dempsey won in 1:55.96, and the 4x400m relay team of Galusha, Leah Glavin, Meg Connolly and Richard won in 4:23.

Braintree 52, Natick 48: Bridget Lee won the 55m and 300m to give the Wamps their first win of the season. Catherine McPhee won the 600m, Caitlyn Chang captured the 1,000m, and Tessa Marston was second in the long jump and 600m. The 4x200m relay team and 4x400m relay team also helped secure the victory.
