HIGH SCHOOL ROUNDUP: Duxbury wins Patriot League girls, boys swimming and diving titles

Duxbury swept the girls and boys team crowns at this weekend's Patriot League swimming and diving championships at the Lincoln-Hancock Pool in Quincy.

The Dragons took the girls title with 323 points with Hingham in second with 236, followed by Scituate (3rd, 211), Marshfield/Hanover (4th, 199) and Quincy/North Quincy (5th, 138). Duxbury's boys won with 319 points. Quincy/North Quincy was second with 239, followed by Scituate (3rd, 207), Marshfield/Hanover (4th, 168) and Pembroke (5th, 139).

Duxbury's Alli Brown was the girls champ in both the 200-yard freestyle (2:00.58) and 100 free (:55.63). Olivia Templeton won 1-meter diving (515.45 points), Kirsten Thorn won the 500 free (5:31.58), and Sophia Levasseur won the 100 breaststroke (1:13.24). Templeton and Levasseur also swam on the winning 200 free relay (1:48.69) with Lorelei Perda and Meredith Brown.

Hingham's Clara Bodnar won the 200 IM (2:14.82) and 100 butterfly (:59.04) and swam on two winning relays – the 200 medley (1:58.58) with Kelsey Donegan, Lina Matera and Emma Izmirlic, and the 400 free (3:50.78) with Donegan, Matera and Ella Cignetti.

Other girls winners: Hanover's Audrey Hannigan (50 free, :26.43) and Plymouth North/South's Molly St. Gelais (100 backstroke, 1:05.20).

For the Duxbury boys, Elliott Morse won the 200 free (1:54.15), Peter Coleman won the 500 free (5:10.53), and Win Davenport took the 100 breaststroke (1:01.11). Morse and Davenport also swam on the winning 400 free relay (3:40.73) with Graycen Murphy and Win Shepler.

Quincy/North Quincy won seven of the 12 events, getting two individual wins each from Kenny Guan (50 free in :22.97; 100 free in :52.08) and Isaac Ng (100 butterfly in :54.84; 100 backstroke in :56.75). Kalok Li won the 200 IM (2:05.29). All three swam on a pair of winning relays – the 200 medley (1:44.11) and 200 free (1:34.76) – with Gabriel Gentil.

Hanover's Cameron Pope won diving with a score of 475.60.

Hockomock League: Canton was third in the girls team scoring (with 240 points) and fourth in boys team scoring (246.5) at the league championship swim meet.

For the girls, Shauna Harney won the 200 IM (2:15.01) and was third in the 100 backstroke (1:02.63). Annie McLean won the 50 free (:25.87) and was third in the 100 butterfly (1:02.46). They both swam on the second-place 200 medley relay (1:59.77) with Keeley Harney and Olivia Hickey.

For the boys, Talis Veidis won the 100 free (:51.89), placed second in the 50 free (:23.37) and swam on the winning 200 free relay (1:40.60) with Jonathan He, Daniel Bui and Matthew Hart.

Brian Wang of Oliver Ames was second in the 100 backstroke (1:01.07) and fourth in the 100 free (:52.58).

In other high school action on Monday:

BOYS BASKETBALL

Holbrook 71, St. John Paul II 37: Armani Perkins (22 points) and Owen Burke (19 points) led the Bulldogs to a home win. Cameron Campbell and Parson Javier each added 6 points.

West Bridgewater 50, Blue Hills 48: The Wildcats edged the Warriors at home in Mayflower Athletic Conference action.

GIRLS BASKETBALL

Blue Hills 52, Mount Alvernia 36: Ally Johnson, a freshman from Holbrook, scored a career-high 18 points, and Bridget Devine, a junior from Braintree, added 10 points and 4 blocks as the Warriors (14-2) won at home.

West Bridgewater 43, Cardinal Spellman 30: Amanda Jacques, Grace Polen and Jenella Jacobs each had 10 points to lead the Wildcats to a non-league road win.

Southeastern 53, Bishop Connolly 35: The host Hawks (8-6) have won three in a row.

Thayer Academy 61, Beaver Country Day 39: The Tigers (7-8) won at home.

BOYS HOCKEY

Southeastern/Bristol-Plymouth 6, Tri-County 0: Jake Schofield had a 20-save shutout for the Hawks (8-3-1, 6-1) in a Mayflower Athletic Conference road win. Cam Wilbur scored twice, and John Whalen, Nick Falcione, Nick Sturdevant and Andrew Flanagan each added goals.

Stoughton/Brockton 2, Foxboro 0: Sean Farley and Owen Dupont scored, and goaltender Sean McGowan made 25 saves for his first varsity shutout.

Dartmouth 6, West/East Bridgewater 4: WEB (7-9-1) lost at Bridgewater Ice Arena.

GIRLS HOCKEY

Canton 2, Archbishop Williams 1: Audrey Koen broke a third-period tie to lift the Bulldogs (12-2-2) to a win in a matchup of Division 2 powerhouses. Ellie Bohane put Canton up 1-0 in the first period. Kristin Spiro knotted it up for Archies (11-2-1) in the second. Canton has won six in a row. The Bishops have dropped two straight.

Braintree 4, Norwood 1: Freshman Kathryn Freeman scored twice, and seniors Meg Ceriani and Fiona Holland added goals to power the Wamps (9-4-2) to a road win.

Phillips Andover 4, Milton Academy 0: The Mustangs lost at home.

Whitman-Hanson/Silver Lake 4, Scituate 0: On Sunday, Jules Connors, Chloe Duff, Brenna Hohmann and Caitlin Dilley scored for WHSL (10-4). Sadie Watchorn posted the shutout.

WRESTLING

Boston Latin 45, Milton 34: In the loss, the Wildcats got individual wins from Will Doyle, Isaac Remy, Kenny Heraldo, Conor Walsh, Alex Tran (in his season debut) and Mason Pellegri.

GIRLS GYMNASTICS

Marshfield wins quad meet: On Sunday, the Rams (10-0) won a quad meet, scoring 136.30 points. Pembroke/Silver Lake was second (135.4), followed by Whitman-Hanson (128.75) and Plymouth North/South (122.2). Annie Spencer of Marshfield was runner-up in the all-around with a score of 35.0. Teammate Olivia Audette was third with 33.35. Spencer won vault (8.95), balance beam (9.25) and floor exercise (9.0).    

Notre Dame Academy 136, Somerset/Berkley 123.75: On Sunday, NDA's Katie McCormack was the all-around champ (35.55), winning vault (9.2), beam (9.0) and floor (9.25). Sophia Chavez won bars (8.4) and tied Emily Lembo for second on floor (8.5). Lembo also was second in the all-around (34.15), bars (8.35) and beam (8.7) and tied Lily DeGiacomo for second on vault (8.6).
