HIGH SCHOOL ROUNDUP: Ella Varetimos scored a hat trick to lead Mashpee girls soccer to win

Ella Varetimos scored a hat trick to fire the Mashpee High girls soccer team to victory over Bourne on Friday.

Two of her goals were set up by Anna Cannistraro, and the third by Ava Desimone. Anastassia McGrail's penalty kick accounted for the fourth goal.

Norah Paolini had eight saves in goal for Mashpee in the win.

Monomoy 5, Falmouth Academy 0: The Sharks put five goals past the Mariners to get the win.

FIELD HOCKEY

Dennis-Yarmouth 0, Monomoy 0: Though they remain undefeated, the Sharks were held to a scoreless draw by the Dolphins.

Sandwich 3, Barnstable 0: Quinn Jordan scored twice to help the Blue Knights continue their undefeated start to the season. Emily Souke provided the third goal and an assist as well in the win.

BOYS SOCCER

Bourne 1, Mashpee 0: The Canalmen got the win over the Falcons thanks to a decisive goal from senior midfielder Alex Fasoli. The goal came with just over 10 minutes left in the game, when he turned in a rebound from captain Ben Hopwood's shot. Nathan Reynolds kept the clean sheet in goal for Bourne, making five saves when called into action.

GOLF

Sandwich 127, Saint John Paul II 147: Sandwich pair Thomas Hurley and Emma Abramson both shot 38s at the Bay Course at the Willowbend Club to lead the Blue Knights (8-1) to victory. The Lions were led by 40s shot by Jack Carstensen and Sam Scioletti.

GIRLS VOLLEYBALL

Rockland 3, Falmouth 2: The Clippers took it the distance but ultimately fell short, losing to Rockland in five sets (22-25, 25-22, 17-25, 29-27, 11-15). Christina Femino had 25 assists and 5 aces in the loss, while teammate Maci Griesbauer had 15 kills and 3 aces.

Sturgis East 3, Mashpee 1: The Storm got the victory over the Falcons (25-7 25-14 21-25 25-14). The win moves the Storm to 2-3.

Medfield 3, Bourne 0: The Canalmen were swept by Medfield (21-25, 16-25, 18-25). Sarah Sweeny, senior libero and a captain, had 16 digs to lead Bourne's defensive effort.
