HIGH SCHOOL ROUNDUP: Foley leads Hanover softball past East Bridgewater on road

Junior McKenzie Foley had a pair of hits, including a double, and scored twice Friday to lead the Hanover High softball team to a 4-2 road win over East Bridgewater.

Junior Kaelyn Chase and sophomore Abby Hanna also had two hits each for the Hawks (4-0). Junior Abby Smith (4-0) got the victory in the circle, allowing six hits and two earned runs.

For EB, Maggie Schlossberg struck out 12 and chipped in with a hit and a run in the loss. Liz McNaught and Riley Egan had multi-hit games for the Vikings.

SOFTBALL

South Shore Tech 16, Avon 1: Sophomore Tiana MacDonald (3-for-4) and Zoey Bradshaw (2-for-2) both homered, and Alli Traynor was 2-for-2 with a double to lead the Vikings (4-2) to a home win. Hannah Dailey earned the victory in the circle with 10 strikeouts.

Sharon 14, Quincy 7: The Presidents lost a non-league game at home.

Milton Academy 18, Southfield 6 (5 inn.): Sophomore Nia Phillips threw an abbreviated complete game, allowing 2 hits with 13 strikeouts for the host Mustangs (4-3). She also had a pair of hits. Freshman first baseman Sophia Crowley was 3-for-4 with a triple, a home run, 4 runs and 4 RBI, and Shyla Ahuluwalla was 2-for-4 with 3 runs.

BASEBALL

Hanover 7, Falmouth 3: Junior captain Gabe Knudsen got the win for the Hawks, allowing 2 hits and 2 runs over 6 innings with 12 strikeouts and 5 walks, in the final of the J.L. Murphy Memorial Tournament in Scituate. Junior Mehki Bryan went 2-for-3 with a double and a triple, 3 RBI and 2 runs scored. Freshman Joe Dacosta and junior Connor Hutchison added 2 hits apiece.

Sandwich 6, Scituate 5: The host Sailors lost in walk-off fashion at the J.L. Murphy Memorial Tournament despite big games from Ben Caristi (2-for-2, walk, run, RBI), Garrett Murphy (2-for-4, run, RBI), Ayden Lisi (2-for-4, run, RBI) and Will Grize (2-for-3, walk).

Archbishop Williams 7, Stoughton 6 (8 inn.): Brian Cahill hit a walk-off home run to lift the Bishops (4-3), who trailed 6-0 in the fifth inning. Cahill was 3-for-5 with a double, 3 runs and an RBI. Stephen Ondrick earned the win with 2 scoreless innings on the mound and was 2-for-3 with a pair of doubles and 2 RBI. Wilfred Santiago was 2-for-3 with a double and 2 RBI.

Brockton 4, Braintree 2: Jordan Jenkins tripled and scored on a wild pitch to break a 2-2 tie in the sixth inning as the Boxers (5-2) beat the Wamps (2-5) at home. Jackson O’Brien added an RBI triple in the sixth for Brockton, which also got run-scoring hits from Dom Hopkins (single) and Zeke Inchaustegui (double). For Braintree, Jake Joyce had an RBI double and Derek Foley hit a sacrifice fly.

Duxbury 9, Nauset 5: Nick Ayres hit a two-run homer, and Chris Walsh, Reilly Murray and Brady Wilson each had two hits as the Dragons (7-1) won on the road. Wilson, Neil MacKinnon, David Mulvey and Eion Plunkett handled the mound duties.

St. John Paul II 5, Abington 4: The Green Wave could not hold a late lead and lost on the road. Jon Sellon struck out 8 and allowed 4 hits and 1 unearned run over 6.2 innings. He also had two hits.

Norwell 10, Monomoy 4: The Clippers won a non-league game on the road.

Weymouth 4, Durfee 0: Matt Suplee threw his first career no-hitter with 3 strikeouts. He also had 2 hits and scored a pair of runs. Andrew Ferguson had a 2-run double in the sixth.

GIRLS LACROSSE

Duxbury 12, Weymouth 11 (OT): Sydney Ecker scored the winner for the visiting Dragons. For Weymouth, Megan Doyle finished with 7 points, 10 draw controls, 2 caused turnovers and 5 ground balls. Cameron Flaherty finished with 3 points, 4 draw controls and 2 caused turnovers. Kira Keenan and Sammy Holmes each scored twice, and Mira Flaherty had a goal and 6 ground balls.

Whitman-Hanson 10, Marshfield 7: Captain Maddy Allen scored 4 goals as the Panthers (4-1) jumped out to a 9-1 lead and won the Staycation Cup final. Lily O'Donnell scored twice, and captain Bailey Kelly, Liv Mara, captain Ella Nagle and Shannon Balfe added goals. Liv Godwin made 13 saves with defensive help from Maddie Fitzgerald and Shannon Balfe.

Archbishop Williams 8, Silver Lake 6: Avery Valicenti, Clare O'Keefe and Caroline Batchelder each scored twice as the Bishops won the consolation game of the Staycation Cup in Marshfield. Molly Madaio and Evelyn Lacey added goals for Archies.

Notre Dame Academy 13, Hingham 3: The Cougars won the town battle at home.

BOYS LACROSSE

Archbishop Williams 13, Weymouth 9: The Bishops were led by Sean Logan (4 goals, assist), Zac McClay (4 goals), Jake CaraDonna (2 goals), T.J. Cooper (goal, assist), Henri Barriere (goal), Sean Velozo (goal) and Shamus O’Toole (2 assists).

Nauset 17, Silver Lake 8: Noah Palleschi (2 goals, 2 assists), Cole Miller (2 goals, assist) and Brandon Cavicchi (2 goals) starred for the Lakers in the non-league loss.
