HIGH SCHOOL ROUNDUP: Friday night basketball filled with overtime drama

Local high school fans got a little extra basketball for their admission fee on Friday night as three games went into overtime.

In a Patriot League boys showdown in Marshfield, James Leach drove the lane and dished to 6-6 senior center Connor Walden, whose layup with 2 seconds left in OT gave the host Rams a 71-69 win over Whitman-Hanson.

Walden scored 19 points, and Leach finished with 11 for Marshfield (5-2, 5-1). Junior Ryan Treacy added 15 points.

Malcolm Alcorn-Crowder had 21 points and 19 rebounds for W-H. Amari Jamison (19 points) and Ryan Vallancourt (14 points) also starred.

In boys action:

East Bridgewater 68, Middleboro 67 (OT): Mike Mullaney (12 points) won it at the buzzer for the Vikings (4-3). Jackson Kenn had 18 points and 10 rebounds, and Dylan Kaplinger had a solid all-around game.

On the girls' side:

Weymouth 68, Notre Dame Academy 63 (OT): Megan Doyle scored a career-high 31 points as the Wildcats improved to 4-3. Larissa Gilberto (10 points) and Emma Desmond (8 points) also contributed. Freshman Eva Orlando led NDA with 29 points. Eighth-grader Elle Orlando (15 points) and senior Ava Foley (14 points) also starred in the loss.

BOYS BASKETBALL

Archbishop Williams 67, Bishop Feehan 64: Senior forward Kevin Hamilton (Abington) scored 21 points, and junior guard Josh Campbell (Plymouth) added 18 points and 10 rebounds as Williams (7-1, 5-0) won a Catholic Central League game at home.

BC High 66, Malden Catholic 44: Mike Loughnane, of Quincy, who began the week by scoring his 1,000th career point in a win over Xaverian, poured in 25 points with 6 assists as the Eagles won a Catholic Conference road game. Mahari Guerier added 17 points and 11 rebounds, and Greg Cooper (12 points) and Will Doyle (13 rebounds) also starred.

Cardinal Spellman 55, Bishop Stang 45: Marvin Petit-Frere and Kristian Simpson each scored had 12 points, and Jack Duffy added 11 points and 8 rebounds as the visiting Cardinals (3-3) won their third straight.

Wellesley 47, Braintree 39: The host Wamps dropped to 4-3.

Bridgewater-Raynham 72, New Bedford 57: Dan McClaren had 21 points and 12 rebounds, and John McClaren added 14 points to power the Trojans (6-2, 2-1) to a Southeast Conference road win. Timmy Bollin added 12 points, and Matt Rein and Luke Barry chipped in with 10 each.

Brockton 85, Dartmouth 64: The Boxers won at home in Southeast Conference action.

Calvary Chapel 75, Holbrook 70: The Bulldogs lost on the road.

Canton 46, North Attleboro 39: Lanse Dorcelus scored 14 points, and Matt Chafin added 12 to lead the Bulldogs to a Hockomock League road win. Nate Mei (9 points) and Conor Hunter (8 points) also contributed for Canton.

Carver 49, Rising Tide Charter 44: Charlie Condon (16 points, 11 assists), Matt Mullins (16 points, 10 rebounds) and Ray Boutiette (9 points, 12 rebounds) led the Crusaders to a non-league home win.

Cohasset 52, Hull 32: The Skippers (4-2) beat the Pirates in South Shore League action.

Hingham 75, Duxbury 50: Liam McBride scored 31 points, and Nick Johannes added 20 to power the Harbormen (6-2). Trevor Jones scored 14 points for Duxbury (2-4).

Plymouth South 51, Hanover 43: Junior Liam Davis had 12 points and was a standout defensively to lead South (6-0). Senior Pete Lamborn (11 points) and junior Declan Davis (9 points) also starred. Hanover was led by junior forward Jake Peterson (18 points) and sophomore guard Ben Scalzi (11 points).

Pembroke 48, North Quincy 43: Brady Spencer scored 21 points as the Titans (7-0) edged the Raiders (4-3) in Patriot League action. Senior captain Colm Geary had 11 points, 11 rebounds and 3 steals for NQ in the loss, and sophomore captain Daithi Quinn added 10 points, 8 rebounds and 3 steals. Junior guard Nate Caldwell (6 points) was strong defensively.

Randolph 67, Norwell 40: The Blue Devils improved to 5-1 overall, 2-1 in the South Shore League.

Stoughton 79, Oliver Ames 72: Zach Taglimonte scored 36 points for OA in the loss.

Plymouth North 83, Silver Lake 40: Junior Ivan Darko led North (3-4) with 15 points, and senior Jaymori Leonard Leonard added 14. Junior Hunter Byron chipped in with 12 points, and senior Alec Peruzzi contributed 6 points, 10 rebounds and 5 assists.

Scituate 61, Quincy 42: Johnny Kinsley scored 17 points, and Keegan Sullivan added 12 points and 11 assists as the Sailors (6-1, 4-1) won a Patriot League road game. Jimmy Phipps scored 9 points in the fourth quarter for Quincy.

GIRLS BASKETBALL

Bridgewater-Raynham 65, New Bedford 23: Reese Bartlett had 14 points, 3 rebounds and 6 assists to lead B-R (6-1, 3-0 Southeast Conference). The Trojans, who built a 32-12 halftime lead, also got strong games from Natalia Hall-Rosa (11 points, 5 steals), Jenna Micciantuono (8 points, 14 rebounds, 2 blocks), Emma Flaherty (8 points, 5 rebounds) and Dana Possick (7 points, 10 rebounds).

Oliver Ames 66, Stoughton 25: Caroline Peper (16 points, 5 steals) and Jasmyn Cooper (10 points, 9 rebounds) led OA (6-1, 5-1) to a Hockomock League win. The Tigers, who grabbed 44 rebounds, also got a strong game from Hailey Bourne (9 points, 4 steals). Seniors Jess Maddalena and Evie Lam combined for 14 points for Stoughton.

North Quincy 54, Pembroke 35: Sophomore captains Orlagh Gormley (25 points) and Ava Bryan (19 points) powered the visiting Raiders (7-0). Classmate Molly Toland was a defensive standout.

Cohasset 49, Hull 17: Sarah Chenette had 21 points, 9 rebounds, 3 assists and 3 steals to lead the Skippers to a South Shore League road win. Mia Froio (6 steals) was a defensive standout.

Hingham 62, Duxbury 43: Junior Ellie Savistcus had 22 points and 9 assists to lead the Harborwomen. Perry Blasetti (10 points) and Sophie Kerr (11 rebounds) also starred. Lucy Laviolette led Duxbury with 17 points.

East Bridgewater 54, Middleboro 39: Sophie Bradbury had 21 points, 8 rebounds and 5 assists, and Phoebe Katilus added 14 points and 17 rebounds to power the Vikings (5-1, 2-1) to a South Shore League road win. Allie Pechulis was a defensive standout. For Middleboro (5-2), Riley Griffin scored 20 points, and Alex Williams added 11.

Canton 80, North Attleboro 45: Fay Gallery hit seven 3-pointers en route to a career-high 27 points, and Kiara Cerruti added 26 points to spark the Bulldogs (4-3).

Hanover 47, Plymouth South 19: McKalah Gaine scored 16 points to lead the Hawks. Dani Tilden (7 points) and Rachel Meehan (6 points) also chipped in.

Norwell 72, Randolph 21: In the South Shore League loss, Randolph was led by Zharyah Moore (10 points, 10 rebounds) and Jayla Smith (7 points, 3 rebounds).

Scituate 52, Quincy 32: Grace McNamara scored a game-high 29 points as the Sailors (5-5) won a Patriot League home game. Lindsay Hausmann added 9 points, and Sarah Fogarty and Emilia Rojik each chipped in with 6.

Plymouth North 51, Silver Lake 40: Meg Banzi (North) and Cassidy Conroy (Silver Lake) each scored 16 points.

Whitman-Hanson 67, Marshfield 49: The Panthers (9-0) received double-doubles from Abby Martin (15 points, 10 rebounds) and Cailtin Leahy (15 points, 10 assists), and Lauren Dunn scored a game-high 17 points. Sadie Ellwood scored 15 points for the Rams (4-2).

Rising Tide Charter 28, South Shore Christian Academy 9: The Lady Herons improved with a win at the Hanover U. Freshman Edie Picard had a team-high 8 points. Eighth-graders Johnny Tompkins and Raeghan Blake had 6 points each. Senior captain Abby Manning, senior Jilian Leonardo and sophomore Sienna Picard were strong defensively.

Dartmouth 53, Brockton 39: The Boxers lost on the road,

Braintree 57, Framingham 52: The Wamps (5-3) won a Bay State Conference road game.

Bishop Stang 53, Cardinal Spellman 39: The Cardinals (2-5) lost at home.

BOYS HOCKEY

Scituate 6, Quincy 0: Brendan Boyle scored twice, and Danny Brown, Timmy Lochiatto, James Sullivan and Ben Whitman added goals for the Sailors (5-3). Goalie Cole Coyne earned the shutout.

Plymouth South 7, St. John Paul II 2: The Panthers (1-6) picked up their first win.

GIRLS HOCKEY

Notre Dame Academy 2, Needham 2: Playing for the first time since Dec. 29, the Cougars (2-0-2) skated to a tie against Needham (5-1-2).

Thayer Academy 5, Pingree 2: The Tigers won on the road.

WRESTLING

Duxbury 39, Plymouth South 27: The Green Dragons moved to 8-0 on the season.

BOYS INDOOR TRACK

West Bridgewater sweeps: On Thursday, the Wildcats beat Tri-County, 61-28, and St. John Paul II, 59-21, behind double wins from Ben Fuller (55m, long jump) and Madsen Anderson (600m, high jump). Sam Sousa also won the 300m.

GIRLS INDOOR TRACK

West Bridgewater sweeps: On Thursday, the Wildcats beat Tri-County, 62-36, and St. John Paul II, 55-37, as Aly Bassett won the high jump and 55m hurdles and ran on the winning 4x200m relay team with Lasadia Gurley, Jenn Lamlein and Brianna LaGrange. Ella Dunbury won the mile and 2-mile for WB, Hannah Smith took the high jump, and Gurley won the 55m.
