HIGH SCHOOL ROUNDUP: Locals star at MIAA Div. 3 indoor track & field championships

The Duxbury boys placed fourth overall, and the Oliver Ames and Milton girls tied for fourth on Wednesday at the Division 3 indoor track & field state championships at the Reggie Lewis Center in Boston.

Patriot Ledger/Enterprise athletes won three individual events and a pair of relays.

For the boys, Duxbury's Lucas Fadden finished first in the 55 meters in 6.61 seconds, and the Green Dragons captured the 4x200m relay in 1:33.29.

On the girls' side, Plymouth South's Katrina Sullivan won the 55m hurdles (:8.46), and Silver Lake's Summer Bejarano took the mile (5:06.28). Oliver Ames' 4x800m relay won in 9:56.32.

Bejarano's teammate, Riley Paskow, was second in the long jump at 17 feet, 4.5 inches and placed sixth in the 300m (:43.36).

Oliver Ames had two runner-up finishes, from Kate Sobieraj (mile, 5:07.71) and Johanna Holmes (2-mile, 11:49). Milton's 4x800m relay also was second in 9:57.71.

Duxbury's Josie Lee was third in the girls' 55m in :7.47. Other third-place finishes came from: Stoughton's Annalisa Marckmann (55m hurdles, :8.80); Stoughton's Shayla Ford (300m, :42.16); Milton's Mia Jilani (1,000m, 3:07.55); and Duxbury's 4x200m relay (1:49.27).

Ford also was fourth in the 55m (:7.51), and OA's Taegan Hodges was fourth in the 1,000m (3:09.66). Plymouth South's 4x400m relay was fourth in 4:18.37.

The Silver Lake girls, who finished seventh overall in team scoring with 28 points, got strong performances from Emily Hesketh (fifth in the shot put, 31-2.25) and Samantha Waters (sixth in the 55m, :7.59).

Milton's Gretel Schewe was fifth in the 600m (1:41.77). The Wildcats also went 5-6-7 in the mile with Christina Sullivan (5:24.15), Norah Affanato (5:24.29) and Katie O'Toole (5:24.67), and their 4x400m relay was fifth (4:20.25).

Plymouth South's Cam Travis (55m hurdles, :9.00) and Whitman-Hanson's Myah Kamperides (1,000m, 3:10.94) each placed fifth.

For the boys, Duxbury's Dennis Lee was second in the 300m (:36.23), and the Green Dragons were third in the 4x400m relay in 3:38.16. Gavin Thomas was sixth in the 300m (:36.98). Duxbury scored 38 team points.

The Oliver Ames boys tied for sixth overall with 27 points. The Tigers were led by Ryan Sarney (2nd in the 2-mile in 9:33.96); Collin Williamson (3rd in the long jump at 21-1); Brendan Thomas (6th in the mile in 4:34.57) and Owen McMorrow (6th in the 2-mile in 9:50.74). OA's 4x800m relay also was sixth in 8:39.76.

Stoughton's Jalen Castillo was third in the 55m (:6.66). Plymouth South's Dylan Brilliant was fifth in the mile (4:33.96). Whitman-Hanson had a pair of sixth-places finishers in Gordon Johnson (1,000m, 2:40.15) and Jake Caterer (long jump, 19-10).

The OA and Milton girls each scored 31 points to tie for fourth. Stoughton was 10th with 22 points.

Nashoba (60 points) won the boys team crown ahead of runner-up Wakefield (44). Burlington (77) was the girls champ ahead of runner-up Billerica (48).

BOYS HOCKEY

Whitman-Hanson 4, Quincy 2: The Panthers (8-10) won their third straight, getting goals from Matt Solari (2), John Ward and Bobby Hunter (empty net) to dig out of a 2-0 third-period hole. Luke Tropeano had three assists, and Erik Dean made 26 saves.

Plymouth South 2, North Quincy 1 (OT): Noah St. Germaine scored the winning goal on Senior Night for South (5-12).

Silver Lake 4, Pembroke 3: Sam Dilley, Gavin Sampson, Liam Tompkins and Brett Evans scored, and goalie Peter Bond made 19 saves for the Lakers (14-4). Anthony Birolini (2 goals, assist), Brendan Abban (goal, assist) and Brandon Perry (2 assists) starred for Pembroke.

Rockland 4, Bourne 1: Joey Salamone scored twice and added an assist to spark the Bulldogs. John Henry and Shane Kimball added goals, and Sean Geary and Billy McGuire had assists. Goaltender Joey Dow made 23 saves.

Norwell 5, Scituate 3: Quinn Simmons had a hat trick as the Clippers (16-1) claimed the Old Oaken Bucket by beating the Sailors (12-6).

Hingham 4, Winchester 3: Ryan Burns, Bobby Falvey, Travis Rugg and Danny Carroll scored for the Harbormen (15-3-1).

Stoughton/Brockton 4, Attleboro 0: Joe McNulty, Charlie Caputo, Cooper Lehmann and Josh Greenspoon scored, and goaltenders Chris Andrade and Sean McGowan combined for the shutout.

West/East Bridgewater 5, South Shore Tech 3: Anthony Patete (2 goals, 2 assists) starred as WEB (8-7-3) edged South Shore (11-5-1). Sean Noonan, Kyle Macdonald, and Christian Bates also scored for WEB, and defenseman Sam Hall added 2 assists.

Southeastern/Bristol-Plymouth 5, Cohasset/Hull 3: On Senior Night, the Hawks (13-5) erased a 3-1 deficit midway through the game. Cam Wilbur, John Whalen, Nolan Sturdevant, Thomas Leger and Thomas Mondeau had the goals, and Ryan LeBaron made 19 saves.

Bridgewater-Raynham 5, Duxbury 3: The Trojans (6-11-1) beat the Green Dragons (10-7-2).

Plymouth North 3, Hanover 1: Quinn Brown scored for the Hawks (12-6-1) in the loss.

GIRLS HOCKEY

Quincy/North Quincy 6, Latin Academy/Fontbonne 3: Maggie Lynch scored four goals, and Maddie Bailey and Orla O’Driscoll also found the net as Q/NQ (10-7) celebrated Senior Night by clinching a playoff berth.

Whitman-Hanson/Silver Lake 4, Mansfield/Oliver Ames/Foxboro 1: Shea Kelleher scored twice, and Chloe Duff (assist) and Bridget Cardarelli added goals. Brooke Hohmann added two assists, and Sadie Watchorn made 22 saves. Cataline Kipp scored for MOA, assisted by Julia Muttart.

Pembroke 2, Hanover 0: Mary Quatrale and Maria Cantino scored for the Titans (11-5). Goalie Emily LaVallee earned her first varsity win.

Notre Dame Academy 2, Falmouth 0: Lauren White and Sarah White scored, and goalie Lily Prendergast posted the shutout as NDA (7-4-3) beat the Clippers (10-6-1) on the road.

Hingham 6, Billerica 3: The Harborwomen (9-8-1) got goals from six different players -- Abbey Kennedy, Ryan Maguire, Piper Jordan, Erin Packard, Lydia Borden and Caroline Doherty.

Marshfield 3, Norwell 2: Gabby Reardon broke a 2-2 tie with a power-play goal with 3:52 left in the third period to lift the Rams. Kayla Leonard and Maeve Greland also scored for Marshfield (4-11), and goaltender Ava Peterson had a strong game. Bella Burns and Penny Sach had the goals for Norwell (6-9-1).

St. Mary's (Lynn) 8, Archbishop Williams 1: The Bishops (10-5-3) had their six-game unbeaten streak (4-0-2) snapped in the Catholic Central League Cup.

Westwood 7, Scituate 0: The Sailors lost at Canton Ice House.

Plymouth North/South 0, Cape Cod 0: Plymouth (8-8-1) skated to a scoreless tie on the road.

BOYS BASKETBALL

Abington 60, Norwell 59: Senior captain Tommy Fanara scored a career-high 32 points, including three free throws with 0.4 seconds left to seal the victory. Jeremiah Ismeus (9 points, 7 rebounds) and Connor Pease (10 rebounds) also starred for the Green Wave, which will play at Randolph on Friday night with a chance to earn a share of the South Shore League Sullivan Division crown. Ethan Downey Langley had 30 points and 7 rebounds for Norwell, which erased a 14-point halftime deficit to grab the lead before falling. Connor O’Hare added 11 points for the Clippers.

Braintree 69, Durfee 58: Jordan Gorham (17 points), Tristan Rodriguez (16) and Nate Mede (15) led the Wamps to a non-league win.

Foxboro 67, Stoughton 66: The Black Knights (7-9, 6-9) dropped a Hockomock League game at home as Foxboro's Ryan LeClair (16 points) scored the go-ahead basket with 20 seconds remaining.

Xaverian 53, Bridgewater-Raynham 51: The Trojans dropped to 10-7.

Thayer Academy 72, BB&N 60: The Tigers won an ISL game.

GIRLS BASKETBALL

North Quincy 83, Carver 43: Sophomore captain Orlagh Gormley poured in 34 points as NQ improved to 19-0. Senior Stephanie Huang added 21 points (on seven 3-pointers), and sophomore captain Ava Bryan pitched in with 17 points. Bridget Capone, Autumn Ocampos and Molly Toland were defensive standouts.

West Bridgewater 44, Holbrook 15: The Wildcats clinched a Mayflower Athletic Conference division crown.

Duxbury 61, Cape Cod Academy 36: Molly Donovan scored 21 points as the Green Dragons (11-8) clinched a playoff spot. Sophomore Izzy Maser chipped in with her first 4 varsity points.

Archbishop Williams 47, Austin Prep 40: Junior Elise Carter scored 15 points for the Bishops (7-9).

East Bridgewater 56, Hull 37: Caroline Toomey scored a game-high 16 points, and Sophie Bradbury added 14 for EB (17-2, 10-2 South Shore League).

Foxboro 57, Stoughton 25: In the loss, senior Vanessa Phelimond grabbed 9 rebounds, and sophomore Katrina Varnum had 4 blocks for the Black Knights.
