High school roundup: Mawn's 8 goals carry Monomoy past D-Y in girls lacrosse

Girls Lacrosse:

Monomoy (12-4) rode the momentum of a massive game from Lucy Mawn to a hard-fought 13-12 victory over Dennis-Yarmouth n girls lacrosse action Thursday.

Mawn scored eight of the Shark's 13 goals in the game. The loss dropped the Dolphins to (5-11)

Cape Cod Academy 18, Sturgis West 5: The Seahawks clinched the Cape and Islands League title after beating the Navigators. Ella Bartolomei and Tilly Crosby led the way for the Seahawks (11-3), with eight and six goals respectively.

Sandwich 12, Barnstable 3: A victory for the Sandwich Blue Knights over the Red Hawks, took their record up to 16-1.

Nantucket 13, St. John Paul II 8: The Lions (7-7) battled to nearly erase a 10-1 deficit, but ultimately fell to the Nantucket Whalers (13-3).

Mashpee 18, Bourne 5: The 17-4 Falcons got the win over the Canalmen.

Boys Lacrosse:

Sturgis 10, Martha’s Vineyard 8: The Storm got the tight victory over the Vineyarders to improve to 7-4.

Sandwich 17, Barnstable 4: The Blue Knights got the comfortable win over Barnstable to improve to 16-1.

Monomoy 14, Dennis-Yarmouth 2: The Sharks (10-6) got the victory over the Dolphins (2-12).

Plymouth South 7, Nantucket 3: The Whalers lost their game against Plymouth South, dropping to 6-9.

Nauset 13, Falmouth 5: The Warriors (16-1) were victorious grabbing the win over Falmouth.

Mashpee 15, Bourne 6: The Falcons beat Bourne to advance to 12-5.

Softball:

Tri-County 14, Upper Cape Tech 1: The Rams finish the regular season with a record of 11-9 after losing to Tri-County. 

Bourne 14, Old Colony 2: Hannah Green had a strong day at the plate going 3-4 with three runs scored to lead the Canalmen (6-13) past Old Colony.

Rising Tide 20, Cape Cod Tech 6: The Rams dropped their game to Rising Tide to fall to 0-17.

Wareham 14, Nauset 1: The Warriors lost to Wareham and they're now 6-12.

Baseball:

Bourne 16, Monomoy 4: The Canalmen rolled over the Sharks to improve to 11-7.

St. John Paul II 10, Nantucket 9: No highlights were available.

Martha’s Vineyard 6, Sturgis West 0: The Vineyarders shut out the Navigators to improve to 11-5.

Girls Tennis:

Bourne 5. Mashpee 0: Nora Barmashi and Emma Correira each won their singles matches (6-1, 6-0) before Audrey Caron won her singles match 6-0, 6-0. The two doubles pairs for Bourne (10-8), Grace Gobiel and Sydney Fitzpatrick, and Mia Madge and Ava Fenton, were also victorious to complete the sweep. With the loss, Mashpee is now (3-12).

Girls lacrosse: Nantucket girls lacrosse player scores 100th career goal — as a sophomore

Wareham 4, Nauset 1: The Warriors took the loss against Wareham to drop to 10-8.

St John Paul II 5, Sandwich 0: The Lions got the sweep on the road over the Blue Knights. Kara Oldham, Lily Walker, and Avery Lotuff were victorious in their singles matches for the Lions. Those wins were followed by Chatham Bridge and Chloe Fox taking the first doubles match and then Bridget Moran and Kayla Katziff rounded out the sweep to take John Paul II to 16-1. The Blue Knights are now 5-13.

Boys Tennis:

Bourne 3, Mashpee 2: The Canalmen got the victory over the Falcons to move to 8-10.

St. John Paul II 4, Sandwich 1; Sandwich 3, St. John Paul II 2 (doubleheader): Sandwich and John Paul II split either side of a doubleheader. The Lions are now 9-8, and the Blue Knights are 5-9.
