HIGH SCHOOL ROUNDUP: Monomoy's Finn Hyora throws no-hitter

Finn Hyora was the star of Friday's Cape Cod high school sports action.

The Monomoy High sophomore pitcher tossed a no-hitter in a 6-0 win over Cape Cod Tech.

He struck out 11 batters over 7 innings while allowing just one walk in the win for the Sharks (1-2).

Offensively, Hyora helped his own cause by scoring three runs and stealing two bases.

Monomoy's Casey Huse had a double, and drove in 2 runs to pace the Sharks offensively. Jack Red and Chace Robbins each had an RBI.

Sandwich 8, Mashpee 4: The Blue Knights (1-1) overcame an early 3-0 deficit to pick up their first win of the season, over the Falcons (3-1). Seamus Vining went 4-for-4 with 3 runs and an RBI.

Bourne 3, Old Rochester 2: Bourne starter Luca Finton went 6 innings of 1-run ball for the Canalmen (2-1). Trevor Billard picked up the save, and Griffin Kelly had 2 hits to lead the offense.

Duxbury 11, Nauset 5: The Warriors drop to 1-1.

Upper Cape 13, Wareham 3: The Rams improve to 2-1 behind Patrick O’Rourke's 5-inning start. Harrison Gargan, Jared Coates and Logan Ewell each had 2 hits.

Carver 11, Sturgis 10: James Hereford had a home run and 4 RBIs and Robbie Pennswick had 2 hits and 3 RBIs in the loss for Sturgis (1-1).

Softball

Plymouth North 6, Monomoy 4: The Sharks drop to 1-3.

Sandwich 13, Mashpee 0: The Blue Knights are now 2-1, while Mashpee drops to 1-3.

Bourne 8, Old Rochester 6: Bourne improved to 3-1 behind the Paige Meda's 3 hits and 2 RBIs, a complete game from Jaydn Morrell, and 2 RBIs from Sommer Washabaugh.

Boys Lacrosse

Monomoy 8, Bourne 7: The Sharks continue their undefeated start to the year, and are now 3-0. The loss drops Bourne to 1-2. Tamer Khalil led the way with 4 goals and an assist. Joey McKeen, Owen Dubis, and Dillon Chapman each added a goal and an assist.

Upper Cape 18, Cape Tech 1: Nate Balbauna had 8 goals for the Rams (2-2) leading them in the win over the Crusaders (0-4). Landon Fleck had 3 goals and 4 assists, and William Dunn had a hat trick of goals and assists. Tyler Cullivan scored the lone goal in the loss for Cape Tech.

Girls Lacrosse

Monomoy 13, Bourne 2: The Sharks (2-1) picked up the win over the Canalmen (1-2).

Boys Tennis

Nauset 4, Bourne 1: The Warriors improve to 3-0, and Bourne drops to 0-2.

Girls Tennis

Nauset 4, Bourne 1: Nicole Boyce (8-1), and Anjelie O'Brien (8-2) won first and third singles for the Warriors (1-2). Nicole Ernstrom and Cristin Schadt (8-0), and Kate O'Reilly and Chloe Vouvakis (8-3) swept first and second doubles to earn the win. Mckinley Wenzel (8-2) scored the lone point for Bourne (0-2) in the second doubles matchup.
