HIGH SCHOOL ROUNDUP: Nauset boys swimming team makes splash

The Nauset High boys swimming team defeated Barnstable, 94-48, on Thursday.

Nauset seniors Roman Gorman and Tim Johnson, and juniors Tom Foley and Will Crowell, led the way for the Warriors (2-0) in the win over Barnstable.

Crowell won the 50 yard free (24.75), and the 100 free (54.20). Foley won the 100 butterfly (1:07.65), 100 breaststroke (1:16.45), and Roman Gorman won the 200 IM (2:33.87), and the 100 backstroke. The four made up the Warriors relay teams which won 200 team medley.

Girls Swimming

Nauset 78, Barnstable 77: Sophomore Isabel Colella took first place in the 100 free (1:03.36) and 100 backstroke (1:10.54) to help the Warriors improve to 2-0. Barnstable junior captain Carly Steenstra finished first in the 50 free (28.03), and sophomore Ava Bullock won the 200 IM (2:31.71), and 500m free (5:55.36). Nauset won both the 200 medley and the 400 freestyle relay to narrowly earn the win.

Boys Basketball

Nauset 60, Nantucket 58: Patrick O'Keefe hit a game-winning 3-pointer as time expired to help the Warriors (2-1) beat the Whalers 0-2.

Carver 60, Mashpee 48: The Falcons are now 2-2 after the road loss to the Crusaders.

Dartmouth 78, Dennis-Yarmouth 39: The Dolphins drop to 1-3.

Fairhaven 55, Sandwich 41: The Blue Knights are now 0-2 after the loss.

West Bridgewater 58, Monomoy 38: The Sharks fell to 2-2 following the loss.

Girls Basketball

Mashpee 59, Carver 40: The Falcons improved to 4-0 on the year after beating the Crusaders. Hialeah Turner-Foster led all scorers with 32 points and topped 1,000 points in her career. Amiyah Peters also finished in double digits for the Falcons, adding 12.

Plymouth North 49, Barnstable 32: The Red Hawks drop to 1-4 with the loss.

Nauset 68, Dighton-Rehoboth 34: The Warriors picked up their third win of the season to improve to 3-2.

New Bedford 46, Falmouth 31: The Clippers are 1-1 following the loss.

Cohasset 44, Sandwich 30: The Blue Knights (0-2) took the loss on the road against Cohasset.
