HIGH SCHOOL ROUNDUP: Newcomers help Hingham field hockey maintain perfection

In the loftiest of preseason dreams, what constitutes an ideal start?

Sure, standing tall without a loss would be nice, but it's deeper than that for the Hingham High field hockey team.

Through the first four games of the season, the unbeaten Harborwomen have not relinquished a single score. Counting Wednesday's 8-0 triumph over Whitman-Hanson, they have outscored their opponents (Silver Lake, West Bridgewater and Plymouth North the others) 20-0 so far.

On the mention of ideal play, getting everyone involved is always a plus. Teammates Isabel McCabe and Kaitlyn Manning each recorded the first goal of their varsity careers in Wednesday's win, joining veterans Siena Brackett and Ella O'Neill in the scorebook. Brackett and O'Neill each scored twice.

For Whitman-Hanson, the midfielder tandem of Lillie MacKinnon and Lauren O’Neill played well for the Panthers (0-3).

Hingham now approaches a home-and-home against Scituate next week: away on Monday, home on Wednesday. Both matches are set for 4 p.m.
