HIGH SCHOOL ROUNDUP: Oliver Ames girls volleyball defeats Canton in Hockomock showdown

In a battle of two of the top high school girls volleyball programs in the Hockomock League, Oliver Ames rallied to defeat Canton, 3-1.

The Bulldogs took the opening set, 25-19, before the Tigers rallied to win the next three (25-20, 25-14, 25-16).

Sophomores starred for OA. Addyson Smock played well at the net, tallying four kills and two solo blocks. Clare Kavoulis added 35 assists.

Senior Maddie Homer tallied 27 digs while junior Sarah Hilliard added 21 kills and three aces.

In other high school action on Thursday:

GIRLS VOLLEYBALL

Rockland 3, East Bridgewater 0: The Bulldogs won a South Shore League game.

Norwell 3, Mashpee 0: The undefeated Clippers (7-0) started strong as Samarie Williams (22 for 22 serving, 4 aces, 10 digs) rattled off 14 consecutive service points. Danielle Cox and Izzy Woodman combined for nine kills, 12 digs and two assists. Madison Davis accounted for 12 assists, three digs and three aces.

Abington 3, Randolph 0: The Green Wave earned the sweep 25-9, 25-9, 25-13.

BOYS SOCCER

Plymouth North 1, Plymouth South 1: Ben Young scored off a feed from Bradley Sorensen for the Eagles. John Murphy and Malachai Val also played well.

Norwell 2, Abington 0: Nick Adams and Max Flanders scored for the Clippers.

Silver Lake 2, Hanover 0: Drew Burns tallied the winning goal while Owen MacKinnon added the insurance tally for the Lakers (3-2-1). Boyd Wechter tallied the shutout.

Dartmouth 2, Bridgewater-Raynham 1: Aidan Sullivan scored his second goal of the week in the loss, while Tyler Moreira also played well.

GIRLS SOCCER

West Bridgewater 5, Holbrook 0: Kylie Fuller had two goals and an assist for the Widlcats. Amanda Jacques added a goal and an assist while Charlotte Lone and Rachael Geniuch each had one goal. Mya Hebert had an assist while Talie Donahue played well defensively.

Duxbury 2, North Quincy 1: Morgan Cheverie scored both goals for the Dragons.
