HIGH SCHOOL ROUNDUP: Oliver Ames boys lacrosse starts strong to down East Bridgewater

The Oliver Ames High boys lacrosse team exploded for 10 first-quarter goals and coasted to an 18-7 win over East Bridgewater on Saturday.

Jake Manthous won all but one of the 20 faceoffs he took to lead the Tigers. Wyatt Fritchman tallied 6 goals and 2 assists while Ben Reardon tallied 5 goals.

Ryan Jaco finished with a hat trick and Noah Isleib stopped ei of the 12 shots he faced.

Thayer Academy 14, Lawrence Academy 13: The Tigers escaped with a close win.

Hingham 14, Simsbury (Conn.) 11: The Harbormen picked up the win on the road.

Duxbury 12, Medfield 10: The Dragons won the non-league game.

GIRLS LACROSSE

Oliver Ames 13, East Bridgewater 3: Kayla Magit powered the OA offense with 4 goals while Jess Widdop and Claire O'Rourke shared the goaltending duties. Olivia O'Rourke played well in the midfield.

Thayer Academy 12, Rivers 5: Caroline Kendall starred with 5 goals to lead the Tigers. Izzy Amonte, Anna Kenney and Emily Johnson each tallied 2 goals.

SOFTBALL

Cardinal Spellman 8, West Bridgewater 2: Ava Loud earned the win on the mound while striking out 14 batters and allowing 5 hits for the Cardinals (4-2). Emma Barnes had 2 hits, including a 2-RBI triple.Tracy LaCara added 2 hits and 2 RBI. West Bridgewater outfielders Ava Matta and Amanda Jacques each threw out a runner at home. Olivia Razza had 2 hits and drove in 2 runs.

BASEBALL

Cohasset 13, Blue Hills 2: The Skippers picked up their third consecutive win as Justin Appleby went 2-for-2 with a home run, triple and 2 walks. Travis McKeen also tripled, drew 4 walks and scored 4 times. Luc Lefavre earned his first win of the season. Cohasset will played Pembroke in the final of the Brian F. O'Donnell Memorial Tournament in Hull at the L Street Field at 12:30 p.m. Blue Hills will play Hull in the consolation game at 10 a.m.

Pembroke 10, Hull 2: The Titans advance to play Cohasset in the O'Donnell tournament final on Monday at 12:30 p.m. Garrett Bolan and Nathan Hackett each drove in 2 RBI for Pembroke.

Thayer Academy 10, Rivers 3: Ryan Hawley earned the win on the mound while Gavin Toland and Shane Weber each belted home runs.

Bridgewater-Raynham 12, Archbishop Williams 0: Colin Ronayne (2 RBI) and Cam Morrision (3 RBI) led the Trojans offensively. Mike Logiudice pitched 5 innings and allowed 1 hit while striking out 5.
