High school roundup: Oxford Hills shakes off tenacious Bangor in boys basketball

Jan. 24—BANGOR — Cole Pulkkinen threw in a team-high 16 points and Tanner Bickford scored 15 points as Oxford Hills slipped away with a 48-45 victory over stubborn Bangor in a Class AA North boys basketball game on Tuesday.

Teigan Pelletier added 10 points for the Vikings (12-1).

Matt Holmes scored a game-high 18 points for the Rams (2-10). Ethan Beyeler helped out Bangor with 11 points.

Yusuf Dakane scored 10 points as the Blue Devils (11-2) edged the Bulldogs (10-4) at the Portland Expo.

Yusuf Esse added eight for Lewiston.

Pitia Donato had 10 for Portland, and Remijo Wani tallied eight.

Chase Mailhot and Levi Tibbetts combined to score 42 points as the Greyhounds (7-5) ran past the Bucks (2-11) in Buckfield.

Mailhot led all scorers with 22 points and Tibbetts threw in 20.

Ayden Jefferson paced Buckfield with 18 points.

: Luke Carey scored 21 points as the Cobras (5-6) pulled away in the second and third quarters for the win in North Anson.

Joel Gehrke had 13 points and Kolby Carpenter 12 for Carrabec, which led 10-8 after the first quarter but outscored Oak Hill (2-11) 31-12 in the second and third quarters.

Sammy Calder scored 18 points and Hunter Frost threw in another 16 as the Mustangs (8-2) overpowered the Rebels (1-10) in Bethel.

Wyatt Lilly scored 10 points for Telstar.

Brett Coburn led the way for the Hornets (4-9) with 20 points as they upended the Black Bears (7-6) at Turner.

Sawyer Hathaway had three 3-pointers and finished with 15 points for Leavitt.

Keagan McClure led Maranacook with 13 points.

Jake New went 4 for 5 at the charity stripe and scored 14 points as the Falcons (7-6) surprised the Phoenix (9-2) at the Nest in Jay.

Zach New knocked down a pair of 3-pointers and finished with 11 points.

Ian York led Spruce Mountain with 11 points.

Rachel Penny hit eight 3-pointers and finished with 34 points to lead the Red Eddies (4-9) past the Rams (3-10) at Portland.

Shay Rosenthal had 15 points to lead Deering, and Nyabhana Lia added 12 and Maya Gayle had 10.

Ella Beaudoin scored a game-high 14 points, none bigger than her buzzer-beating basket at the end, as the Blue Devils (3-9) claimed a victory over the Bulldogs (2-11) in Lewiston.

Koral Morin pitched in with 13 points for Lewiston.

Eliza Stein led Portland with 11 points, and Emma Shaw and Lucy Tidd dropped in eight points apiece.

Ariana Thibeault scored 23 points and Peyton Gonya 17 as the Raiders (5-7) won at Wales.

Lindsay Hamilton scored 28 points and Molly Hay had 22 for Carrabec (4-5).

Sierra Carson deposited 15 points and Ella Pelletier added another 12 as undefeated the Vikings (12-0) beat the Rams (11-1) in a showdown of unbeaten Class AA North teams in Bangor.

Carson made two 3-pointers and Pelletier went 4 for 4 from the free throw line. Oxford Hills trailed 12-9 after one quarter then outscored Bangor 17-6 in the second to build an eight-point halftime lead.

Emmie Streams scored 10 points for the Rams, and Abbie Quinn added eight. Bangor is the No. 1 team in the latest Varsity Maine girls basketball poll, while Oxford Hills is No. 2.

Alex Durant and Mallory Stuart had two goals apiece as the Eagles (9-5) beat the Navigators (3-9-1) in Brunswick.

Remy LeBel, Hannah Hawkes and Marley LeBel each added goals for Mt. Ararat/Lisbon/Morse/Lincoln Academy/Oceanside/Boothbay.

Morgan Adams scored for Falmouth/Scarborough.

Ella Wiley stopped 22 shots for the Navigators, and Emma Morrison made 16 saves for the Eagles.
