HIGH SCHOOL ROUNDUP: Pembroke baseball wins O'Donnell Tournament

The Pembroke High baseball team defeated Cohasset, 6-2, in the championship of the Brian O'Donnell Memorial Tournament in Hull on Wednesday.

Colin Blake and Ryan Bradley both belted home runs in the victory and finished with two RBIs for the Titans. Bradley had a pair of hits in the win. Danny Abban earned the win on the mound (five innings, four hits, zero earned runs) while Gabe Rushing had a two-inning save.

Pembroke broke open a 3-2 game with a three-run seventh inning.

Leadoff hitter Aidan Blake was 2-for-3 with a double, two runs scored and a walk. James Falco had one RBI.

BASEBALL

Blue Hills 10, Hull 0: The Warriors won in the consolation round of the Brian O'Donnell Memorial Tournament.

Abington 10, Diman 0: Stephen Madden allowed just one hit over five innings of work while striking out nine for the Green Wave. Pat Cummings had a double and triple while driving in two RBIs.

Whitman-Hanson 12, New Bedford 2: Cam Beltramini powered the Panthers (5-2) offense going 4-for-4 while Ryan Baker and Evan Yakavonis combined for 10 strikeouts and zero earned runs on the mound. Brandon Craven had a bases-clearing triple in the fourth inning.

Marshfield 6, Nauset 1: Jack Keane tossed a two-hitter with striking out 11 and walking none in the win for the Rams. Wes Staffier powered the offense as he went 3-for-4 with two doubles and three RBIs. Jack Croft went 2-for-4 with two runs scored while Jack Doherty was 2-for-3 with two runs scored and an RBI.

Duxbury 5, Braintree 2: Nick Ayres hit a walk-off grand slam with two outs in the bottom of the seventh inning to lift the Dragons (6-1) past the Wamps (2-4). Braintree intentionally walked No. 3 hitter Chris Walsh, a Northeastern commit, to load the bases for Ayres, a senior cleanup hitter who will play at the University of Maine. Eion Plunkett (1.1 innings) got the win in relief of starter Jack Gallagher, who allowed one hit and two runs (both unearned) over the first 5.2 innings. Dan Surette pitched well for Braintree, going the distance and allowing 8 hits. Reilly Murray had an RBI single for Duxbury, and Jack Fitzgerald had an RBI double for Braintree.

Oliver Ames 6, Dighton-Rehoboth 5: OA's Harrison Fitzpatrick celebrated his birthday by getting a hit and scoring two runs. Patrick FInnerty tripled and scored while Andrew Zagami earned the win by pitching 4⅔ innings of relief. Jack Perron had two RBIs, including the winning run on a double in the bottom of the sixth inning.

South Shore Tech 13, Cape Cod Tech 2: Tyrin McDonald made his season debut, striking out 12 over 5 innings as the Vikings (7-1) won the Mayflower League game. Tyler Carini, John Nessarella, Jeremy Jackson and Lucas Salvucci each had two hits and two RBIs.

SOFTBALL

Abington 4, Franklin 0: Shannon Varvitsiotis starred on the mound (complete-game shutout, eight strikeouts) and at the plate (2-for-3, double, RBI) for the Green Wave. Calli Pineau had a two-run home run and Kasie Bailey went 2-for-4 with an RBI and run scored.

South Shore Tech 27, Cape Cod Tech 9: Rose Earner (three-run home run, double) and Zoey Bradshaw (double) both had four-hit days for the Vikings. Every batter in the SST lineup had at least two hits.

BOYS LACROSSE

Cohasset 12, Abington 7: Johnathan Halpin scored three goals for the Green Wave in the loss, while Evan St. St Martin had two goals and an assist. Hunter Grafton added a goal and three assists.

Silver Lake 11, Barnstable 8: The Lakers won the non-league game on the road behind five goals from freshman Cole Miller and 11 saves from Matthew Wolff.

GIRLS LACROSSE

Bridgewater-Raynham 19, Rockland 4: Emily Keefe and Erin Rennie both tallied five goals in the win for the Trojans. Liv Quinlan had a hat trick and Sophia Perry tacked on two goals while Camillia Manning played well in goal.

Whitman-Hanson 6, Silver Lake 4: Maggie Keller made eight saves in the loss in the Staycation Cuo.

Marshfield 9, Archbishop Williams 8: The Rams will play Whitman-Hanson in the Staycation Cup on Friday at 11 a.m. at Marshfield High. In the loss, the Bishops got four goals from Avery Valicenti and two each from Caroline Batchelder and Clare O’Keefe.
