HIGH SCHOOL ROUNDUP: Sandwich boys hockey hoists championship banner

Saturday was a good day for the Sandwich High boys hockey team.

The Blue Knights unveiled their 2022 Division 4 state championship banner and then defeated Grafton, 3-2.

Christopher Cardillo scored twice on the power play to propel the Blue Knights (6-3) to a 2-0 advantage. Cardillo went from goal scorer to goal provider in the third period when he set up Jack Connolly for Sandwich's third goal.

Mitch Norkevicius had 27 saves in goal.

Boys Hockey

Martha's Vineyard 5, Bourne 1: The Vineyarders (3-4) picked up the win over the Canalmen (6-3).

Weymouth 3, Barnstable 2: The Red Hawks (4-4-2) were defeated in overtime.

Girls Hockey

Barnstable 3, Cape Cod Furies 2: The Red Hawks (5-3-1) picked up the win over the Furies (5-4-1). Claire Hazard scored all three goals in the win for Barnstable, and was assisted by Ally McEneaney and Emma DaSilva.

Falmouth 2, La Salle 2: The Clippers tied Rhode Island's La Salle and are now 5-0-3.

Boys Basketball

Falmouth 59, Tiverton 45: The Clippers improve to 5-3, behind 10 3-pointers as a team. Jack Watson led the Clippers with 13 points, Andrew Plourde added 11, and Myles Peterkin had 10 in the win.

Girls Basketball

Tantasqua 61, Nauset 20: The Warriors drop to 3-7 on the year.

Girls Track

D-Y has solid showing: Dennis-Yarmouth competed at the Northeast Invitational on Friday and Saturday. Olivia Pendleton set a personal record in the 2 mile (12:29.79) and finished third, and was the Dolphins highest-individual finisher on the day. Breanna Braham finished fourth in the 300m in 42.77, also a personal record.
