HIGH SCHOOL ROUNDUP: South Shore Tech baseball rallies from 11-3 deficit

Down 11-3 in the third inning, a walk-off win did not look it was in the cards for the South Shore Tech baseball team on Monday against Cape Tech.

But that's why they play the games.

The Vikings (7-5) rallied for a 14-13 win in walk-off fashion. Jake Googins had 3 hits, including a 2-run homer, stole 4 bases and scored 4 runs. Jake McAleer and Garret Morris each had 2 hits, and Jake Starbird earned the win, striking out 6 over 4 innings.

BASEBALL

Milton 3, Braintree 0: Charlie Walker threw a 6-hit shutout with 11 strikeouts and 2 walks for the host Wildcats (11-2). Owen McHugh, Ryan Dexter and Jack Finnegan scored the runs.

BC High 9, Catholic Memorial 6 (8 inn.): Cole Bohane (Hingham) hit a 3-run home run in the top of the eighth as the Eagles (11-4) avenged an earlier home loss to the Knights. Niko Brini (Plymouth) also homered.

Plymouth South 2, Scituate 0: Jack Obert tossed a 2-hitter with 14 strikeouts in the win for the Panthers (10-2, 9-0 in Patriot League). Naythan Ruehs had 2 hits and an RBI. Michael Sheskey had a double for the Sailors (8-4, 7-2).

Hingham 11, Plymouth North 9: Ben Cashman's 3-run triple gave the Harbormen (7-4) a come-from-behind Patriot League road win over the Blue Eagles (9-4). Alex McGowan tossed the final 2 innings for the save. Kyle Swett's diving catch in deep left center with two runners aboard ended the game.

Whitman-Hanson 3, Duxbury 1: Sophomore Evan Yakavonis tossed his third complete game of the season while allowing 1 earned run in the win for the Panthers (5-6, 5-4 Patriot League). Aidan Barry powered the offense with 3 hits. Duxbury's Chris Walsh had a first-inning home run.

Marshfield 10, Silver Lake 2: Wes Staffier was 4-for-5 with 5 RBI for the Rams, and Jack Keane pitched a 2-hitter with 10 strikeouts. Sam Sullivan was 3-for-4 with 2 runs scored and 2 stolen bases.

Quincy 6, Hanover 5: The Hawks scored 3 runs in the top of the seventh inning to take a 5-4 lead, but Quincy's Kellen Kopp ended the game with a 2-run, walk-off single.

Pembroke 10, North Quincy 8: The Titans won at home on Senior Day. For NQ, Max Gaudiano had 2 hits, including a home run, drove in 3 runs and scored twice. Scott Ritz (3 hits, 2 doubles, RBI, 2 runs), Vinny O’Leary (2 hits, double, 2 runs), Zach Taylor (2 hits, 2 RBI) and Charlie Baker (2 hits) also starred.

Southeastern 14, West Bridgewater 2 (5 inn.): Jared Graca had 8 strikeouts in 4 innings of work while Joseph Tully had 3 hits, 3 runs and 2 RBI. John Graca had 2 hits and 2 RBI.

Carver 5, Abington 0: The Crusaders (9-3) scored a big South Shore League road win over the Green Wave (9-3).

Cardinal Spellman 8, Bishop Stang 3: Michael Boutiette pitched 6⅔ innings to pick up the win while Ben Sepeck recorded the final out of the game. Jason Kelly had 2 hits, including a triple, for the Cardinals (3-11).

Cohasset 3, East Bridgewater 2: Luc Lefevre pitch 5 shutout innings for the Skippers in the win while Travis McKeen pitched 2 innings to earn the save. Nick Henry provided all of Cohasset's offense with a 3-run home run.

Bishop Feehan 12, Archbishop Williams 3: Matt Kowalski had 2 RBI in the loss.

Canton 9, Oliver Ames 4: Jack Digiralomo was 3-for-4 with a double and 2 RBI for the Bulldogs in the Hockomock League win. Zach Peters went 5⅓ innings, giving up 3 runs on 4 hits while striking out three for Canton. For OA, Patrick Finnerty had a 3-run double, Jack Richardson had 2 hits and Nate Luke drove in a run in his first varsity at-bat.

Norwell 8, Rockland 3: The Clippers topped the Bulldogs in South Shore League action.

Holbrook 7, Bristol Aggie 3: Junior Ethan Carey-Prendable scattered 6 hits and struck out 10 to lead the Bulldogs to a Mayflower Athletic Conference win. He also had 2 hits and scored twice. Sam Hobart (3 hits) and Joe McLaughlin (2 hits) also contributed.

Sandwich 4, Bridgewater-Raynham 0: James Nichols, Jack Costa, Caden Bishop and Andrew Patrick all pitched well for B-R, not allowing an earned run in the loss.

SOFTBALL

Hanover 14, Quincy 2: The Hawks (8-3, 7-2 Patriot League) banged out 17 hits, led by freshman Abby Hanna (4 hits, double, 2 RBI, 4 runs). Noey Giardina (4 hits, double, 3 RBI, 3 runs) also starred, and McKenzie Foley, Kaelyn Chase (2 runs) and Kate Baldinelli each had 2 hits. Winning pitcher Abby Smith allowed 5 hits with 6 strikeouts.

Abington 17, Carver 2 (5 inn.): Shannon Varvitsiotis and Elsie Testa combined to allow 3 hits while striking out 10 for the Green Wave (9-1). Ava DiPietro had 3 hits. Maddie Perry (4 RBI), Calli Pineau (3 RBI, 3 runs), Keira Howley (2 RBI) and Brenna Howley (2 RBI, 2 runs) all had 2-hit days.

Silver Lake 10, Marshfield 0: Sam Waters went 4-for-4 in the win for the Lakers (12-1). Caroline Peterson improved to 10-0 on the season by throwing a 2-hitter with 16 strikeouts.

Foxboro 5, Stoughton 3: Sophomore Alyssa Edwards hit a 3-run home run in the sixth inning to account for all of Stoughton's runs. Kate Bulger singled twice, and Sydney Menz had a hit.

Notre Dame Academy 13, Brockton 9: Sophomore Shannon Macleod had a 2-run double for the Cougars.

Marshfield 4, East Bridgewater 2: Freshman Emily Harper allowed 6 hits in a complete-game effort to earn the win for the Rams (7-6) on Saturday. Sam Bongiolatti went 4-for-4 with 2 RBI.

Southeastern 10, West Bridgewater 4: Neala Boyd played well defensively and had 2 RBI in the loss.

Pembroke 8, North Quincy 1: Kelly McGee had 17 strikeouts in the win.

Oliver Ames 7, Canton 5: Maddie Homer (3-for-4, 3 steals, 2 runs), Emily Martin (2-for-4, double, RBI) and Devon Morris (double, RBI, run) starred as the Tigers had 14 hits in the win. Katie Melendy (2-for-4, double, RBI, run) pitched a complete game with 4 strikeouts.

BOYS LACROSSE

Abington 10, Hull 4: Hunter Grafton had 6 goals and an assist, and Pat Prewitt (goal, 5 assists), John Halpin (2 goals, assist), Zach Buccigross (goal, 2 assists) and Mike Van Luling (assist) also starred for the Green Wave.

North Attleboro 15, Oliver Ames 6: Wyatt Fritchman had a hat trick for OA in the loss, and Ben Reardon (2) and Ryan Jaco added goals. Goalie Noah Isleib made 22 saves.

Duxbury 10, Scituate 8: The Green Dragons edged the Sailors in Patriot League action.

Milton 9, Dedham/Norwood 8: The Wildcats posted a win over the co-op program.

Quincy/North Quincy 7, Abington 6: Sophomore Teddy Lynch (2 goals, 2 assists) tallied the winning goal for QNQ (3-8) on Saturday with 4:27 remaining. Riley O'Connell (11 saves) made 3 stops in the final minute to preserve the win. Will Ploof (assist) and Joe Manton both had 2 goals while Michael Gorman had a goal and an assist.

Norwell 14, Rockland 2: The Clippers also picked up a 16-2 win over Newburyport on Saturday.

Hingham 10, Glastonbury 5: Henry Crean had a hat trick while Joe Hennessey scored 2 goals for the Harbormen on Saturday.

Bridgewater-Raynham 11, Canton 7: Sophomores Ryan McInnis (3 goals, assist) and Dawson Dubose (2 goals, 2 assists) led the way for the Trojans (8-3) on Saturday.

GIRLS LACROSSE

Norwell 16, Rockland 1: Maeve Ross, Madeline Lievi and Danielle Cox each had hat tricks for the Clippers (7-5).

Hull 14, Abington 2: Grace Grosso and Nina Tiani each had hat tricks while Brianne MacEachern made 8 saves for the Pirates.

Oliver Ames 17, North Attleboro 10: Catie Wilson had 7 goals and 2 assists for OA. Georgia Costello (5 goals, assist) also starred, and Taylor McAndrew and Alyssa Kiff anchored the defense in front of goalie Jess Widdop (10 saves).

Bishop Feehan 14, Archbishop Williams 4: Avery Valicenti scored 2 goals in the loss.

Cohasset 17, Middleboro 1: The Skippers got goals from eight different players in the road win.

North Quincy 15, Abington 2: Teresa Sheedy (5 goals, assist), Alex Abrahamovic (3 goals, assist) and Autumn Ocampos (3 goals) led the way for the Raiders (5-7) on Saturday.

Oliver Ames 11, Middleboro 3: Olivia O'Roarke played well on the draw for the Tigers on Saturday.

BOYS TENNIS

Oliver Ames 3, Canton 2: Senior captain Kylash Ganesh won at third singles, and the Tigers swept the doubles with the teams of Patrick Dolan/Alex Efremidas (No. 1) and Alex Vasilou/Ben Dias (No. 2).

Hingham 4, Plymouth North 1: Travis Rugg and Thomas Fabrizio won in singles for Hingham, which swept the doubles with the teams of Dominic Kanter/Will Baker and Nick Dubois/Ben LaRhette. Plymouth North's Robby Cooney won at first singles.

Duxbury 5, Whitman-Hanson 0: The Dragons won the Patriot League match.

Quincy 3, Hanover 2: Dejan Boskovic won the deciding point for the Presidents.

GIRLS TENNIS

Oliver Ames 5, Canton 0: Hannah Farber (No. 1), Mia Corradini (No. 2) and Elizabeth O’Brien (No. 3) won in singles, and OA swept the doubles with the teams of Caroline Peper/Morgan Vasiliou (No. 1) and Marina Mierzwinski/Olivia Querzoli (No. 2).

Hingham 5, Plymouth North 0: Mathilde Megard (No. 1), Katelyn Erikson (No. 2) and Brooke Flynn (No. 3) won in singles, and the Harborwomen (10-0, 9-0 Patriot League) swept the doubles with the teams of Maggie O'Keefe/Susie Anderson (No. 1) and Sanya Khadivi/Renee Martel (No. 2).

Duxbury 5, Whitman-Hanson 0: Caroline Sutliffe (No. 1), Annabel Keating (No. 2) and Cara Cass (No. 3) won in singles, and the Dragons (9-2, 8-2 Patriot League) swept the doubles with the teams of Welles Holbrook/Agnes Buell (No. 1) and Bradley Markella/Leah Howell (No. 2).

Milton 3, Braintree 2: The Wildcats posted a narrow Bay State Conference victory.

GIRLS TRACK & FIELD

Bridgewater-Raynham 78, Dartmouth 55: Nethica Auguste (100m, 200m, triple jump) was a triple-winner for the Trojans (3-0). Lydia Taccini won the 100m hurdles and long jump.

BOYS TRACK & FIELD

Brockton 102, Durfee 11: Christensen Paul (100m, long jump) and Aaron Russell (discus, shot put) were double-winners for the Boxers. Antonio Tobon (400m hurdles) and Henry Tait (110m hurdles) swept the hurdles. Other Brockton winners included Mike Darche (javelin), Jaden Lopes-Ribeiro (high jump), Nick O'Connell (2 mile) and Gavin Gareri (800m).

Hingham 99, Silver Lake 37: Avery Warshaw won the long jump (PR 22-5), triple jump (PR 44-5) and 100m for Hingham. Bryce Botelho won the 200m and 400m, and the Harbormen got other wins from Tom Shetzline (400m hurdles, :59.5), Jared Salem (110m hurdles), Sam Benham (800m, 2:05) and Steve McDougall (mile). Sean Curry set a program freshman record by winning the high jump in 5-8.

BOYS VOLLEYBALL

North Quincy 3, New Bedford 1: The Raiders won the non-league game.

Greater New Bedford Voke 3, Quincy 2: The Presidents dropped the non-league game.

GIRLS GOLF

Notre Dame Academy 3.5, Cardinal Spellman 2.5: Jacqueline Cingel, Anna Schuaber and Gillian Mohr won their matches for NDA, and Izzy Medua halved hers.

Scituate 5, Silver Lake 1: The Sailors got wins from Abigail McMellen (2-up), Sarah Spires (2-up), Abby Spire (4 and 3), Brenna Donovan (4 and 3) and Tristan Rothwell (3 and 2).
