HIGH SCHOOL ROUNDUP: Stoughton softball tops Brockton at home in season opener

Alyssa Edwards hit a home run Friday to power the Stoughton softball team to a season-opening 12-4 home win over non-league foe Brockton.

Naveiha Madison homered the Boxers in the loss.

In other high school action on Friday:

SOFTBALL

Archbishop Williams 27, Ursuline Academy 0 (5 inn.): Jill Ondrick threw an abbreviated no-hitter with 12 strikeouts for the Bishops (2-0). Emma Chenette (2 walks, 3 runs, 3 RBI) and Regan Parr (2 for 3, 2 runs, 3 RBI) each hit home runs, and Maeve Brophy was 2 for 2 with a walk and a pair of runs.

Southeastern 11, West Bridgewater 6: In the home loss, WB was led by Amanda Jacques (3 for 4, double, run), Olivia Razza (2 for 4, triple, 2 runs, RBI), Neala Boyd (2 for 3, 2 runs, RBI) and Lilly Martel (1 for 4, double, 2 RBI). Southeastern scored four runs in the sixth to pull away.

Weymouth 20, Quincy 7: Abby Wieden got the victory in the circle as the Wildcats won a non-league game on the road in their opener.

Rockland 6, Canton 3: The Bulldogs opened their season with a non-league road win as Kiley Murdock pitched a complete game and Brianna Hewitt had a double and a triple.

BASEBALL

Milton 15, Stoughton 0 (5 inn.): The Wildcats, defending Div. 2 state champs, opened the season with a non-league road win as Tommy Mitchell (3 innings, 5 strikeouts) and freshman Ryan Kelly (2 innings, 5 strikeouts) combined on an abbreviated no-hitter.

Southeastern 4, Cardinal Spellman 3: The Hawks walked it off in the bottom of the seventh against the Cardinals. Jared Graca was sharp on the mound, striking out 11 over 6.2 innings. Reliever Darren Spencer shut the door in the top of the seventh, striking out the only batter he faced. The offense was led by Andrew Haddigan (3 for 4, plus an outfield assist).

BOYS LACROSSE

Cohasset 18, Weymouth 3: Senior attack Ben Weisensee (5 goals, assist) and senior midfielder Charlie Donovan (4 goals, assist) led the Skippers to a non-league road win. Senior midfielder Luke Willmott added 2 goals and 3 assists, and the defense had a strong game in front of senior goalie Colin Humphrey.

Quincy/North Quincy 9, Cambridge Rindge & Latin 2: Teddy Lynch had 5 goals and an assist, and freshman goalie Brayden O'Connell made 14 saves as Q/NQ presented new coach Scott Devlin his first win. Will Codner (2), Mikey Galligan and Charles McGrail added goals.

Plymouth South 11, Barnstable 3: Holden Lassige, Nick McNulty, Caleb McKeown and Timmy Speigel each scored twice for the Panthers in the home win. Heath McGilvray and Matt Eliason each scored his first varsity goal, and James Lopes and Nick Kendall split time in net.

Braintree 10, Pembroke 6: The Wamps won a non-league game at home. In the loss, Nate Holmes had a hat trick for the Titans.

Blue Hills 4, Southeastern 2: In the road loss, the Hawks got 14 saves from Tyler Davidson and goals from Will Lannan and Colton Penticost.

Apponequet 14, Middleboro 2: Dean Teceno scored his first two varsity goals and Ayden Fernandes had his first varsity assist, but the Sachems lost their opener at home.

South Shore Tech 15, Bristol-Plymouth 0: The visiting Vikings won big in their season opener.

GIRLS LACROSSE

Braintree 13, Mansfield 12: Bella Duffy scored 8 goals to lead the Wamps to a season-opening road win. Ava MacDonald scored twice, and Jackie McGonigle, Kayla Graziano and Claire Joyce added goals.

Hingham 14, Scituate 5: Grace Maroney (5 goals), Madeline Packard (5 points) and Caroline Connolly (4 points) combined for 12 draw controls as the Harborwomen won on the road. Lily Samoska made 5 saves.

North Attleboro 10, Silver Lake 9 (OT): Caitlin Dilley and Cloe Geraigery each had hat tricks for the Lakers in the non-league loss.

Hull 11, Rockland 3: The Pirates won the South Shore League matchup on the road.

Milton 13, Boston Latin Academy 2: The Wildcats won a non-league game at home.

Brookline 10, Quincy 3: The Presidents lost a non-league game at home.

Sandwich 12, Plymouth North 7: The Blue Eagles lost at home.

Apponequet 17, Middleboro 4: The Sachems dropped their opener on the road.

Tri-County 13, Southeastern 2: The Hawks lost their opener at home.

BOYS VOLLEYBALL

North Quincy 3, BC High 0: The Raiders won the non-league matchup, 25-14, 25-20, 26-24.

GIRLS TENNIS

Plymouth North 5, Sandwich 0: The Blue Eagles got singles wins from No. 1 Emily Goulian (8-1 pro set), No. 2 Ava Boyajian (8-1) and No. 3 Emmy Spinale (8-0) and swept the doubles with the No. 1 team of Aislyn Kelliher/Nyla Lavoie (8-1) and the No. 2 team of Kelsey Davis/Kendall Zemotel (8-0).

Braintree 5, Quincy 0: Senior Savanna Eng won a tiebreaker at third singles, and Chloe Zhong and Srinika Parvathgari won a tiebreaker at second doubles for the Wamps.
