HIGH SCHOOL ROUNDUP: Three basketball teams claim league titles

Paige Meda scored 16 points for the Bourne High girls basketball team as Canalwomen clinched the South Coast Conference Gold Division title with a 51-32 win over Wareham on Friday. McKinley Wenzel added 12 points for Bourne (16-2).

The Sandwich girls basketball team beat Barnstable, 63-43, and claimed the Cape & Islands Atlantic Division title. Sandwich (14-4) has won 13 of their last 14 games, and Barnstable dropped to 4-15.

The Nauset (11-7) boys basketball team continued its hot streak with its sixth straight win, and claimed the Cape & Islands League Atlantic Division title with a 67-52 win over D-Y (6-14).

Boys Basketball

Barnstable 63, Sandwich 43: Evan Briggs (14 points) and Kauan Desa (13 points) led the way for the Red Hawks. Seniors JJ Martin had 6 points, and Evan Fishback scored 4 points in their final high school games for Barnstable (8-12). Sandwich ends its season 1-17.

Bourne 79, Wareham 78 (OT): Mike Dankert knocked down four foul shots down the stretch for the Canalmen and scored 8 of his 18 points in overtime. Shea Ullo scored 22 points (six 3-pointers), Nate Reynolds finished with 20 points and Leo Andrade contributed 11 points for Bourne (15-3).

Nantucket 74, Mashpee 46: The Whalers (11-8) have won five of their last six games.

Duxbury 51, Falmouth 47: The Clippers (8-10) came up just short despite outscoring the Dragons 16-12 in the fourth quarter.

Rising Tide 43, Sturgis East 39: The Storm (1-17) ended their season with a close loss.

Falmouth Academy 52, Sturgis West 47: The Mariners (10-5) won their fourth straight, and have taken nine of their last 10 games.

Calvary Chapel Academy 58, St. John Paul II 32: The Lions anded their season 4-14.

Girls Basketball

Martha’s Vineyard 36, St. John Paul II 27: Josie Welch led the way a double-double of 14 points and 10 rebounds for the Vineyarders as they beat the Lions (12-4). Maria Andrade added 7 points and 6 rebounds, and CJ Walsh contributed 4 points, 4 blocks and 13 rebounds for Martha's Vineyard (7-13).

Dennis-Yarmouth 52, Nauset 38: Savannah Azoff had a game-high of 25 points for the Dolphins. Siena Lauze added 18 points, Jasmine Jenkins scored 5 points, and Maeve Dolan contributed 4 points for D-Y (12-6). Gabby Foster had 14 and 5 rebounds, Jill Ernstrom added 11 points and 7 rebounds for Nauset (4-15).

Sturgis East 37, Rising Tide 19: Nori Anne Wray had 13 points, Samantha Orcutt added 8 points, and Isabella McNeill scored 6 points for Sturgis East (2-16).

Duxbury 34, Falmouth 19: The loss for the Clippers (12-8) snapped a four-game win streak.

Middleboro 6, Monomoy/Mashpee 2: The Monarchs (4-13-1) dropped their second straight.
