HIGH SCHOOL ROUNDUP: Weymouth posts close wins over Braintree in girls and boys lacrosse

Weymouth edged Bay State Conference rival Braintree in boys girls and boys lacrosse action on Tuesday.

The girls won, 16-13, as Megan Doyle starred with 11 points and 16 draw controls. She now has 300 draw controls in her career. Cam Flaherty scored 5 goals, including No. 100 of her career, and Molly Higgins added 2 goals.

The Wildcats won the boys matchup, 17-14, as Mike Stevenson had 7 goals and 2 assists and Liam Reichardt starred in the net.

BC High 10, St. John's (Shrewsbury) 9: Patrick Maroney had a hat trick and goalie Andrew Toland had a strong game as the Eagles (11-5) built a 10-4 lead and held on for the win.

Hanover 15, Whitman-Hanson 5: Senior captain Chris Ross had a hat trick and 2 assists on Senior Day, and goaltender David MacNeil made 8 saves, but the Panthers (4-11) lost at home.

Quincy/North Quincy 10, Plymouth North 4: Joe Manton (4 goals, 4 assists) starred and Mike Gorman tallied a hat trick in the win for QNQ.

Duxbury 15, Silver Lake 7: Delby Lemieux scored 5 goals to lead the Dragons.

Plymouth South 5, Pembroke 2: The Panthers topped the Titans in a low-scoring Patriot League game.

Scituate 10, Marshfield 6: Trailing 5-4 in the fourth quarter, the Sailors (12-3) erupted for 6 goals to beat the Rams in Patriot League action. James Sullivan scored 5 goals, and Charlie Hartwell (3) and Will Robinson (2) did the rest.

Middleboro 12, East Bridgewater 8: The Sachems defeated South Shore League rival EB.

GIRLS LACROSSE

Plymouth North 13, North Quincy 6: Annika Pyy (6 goals, 4 assists), Ava Whiting (5 goals, assist) and Addie Pyy (2 goals, 6 assists) starred for the Blue Eagles (11-3). Alex Abrahamovich (assist) and Jamie McAleavy each scored 2 goals in the loss for the Raiders (6-9). Teresa Sheedy had an assist and 11 draw controls.

Cardinal Spellman 11, St. Joseph Prep 8: The Cardinals picked up their third consecutive win as goaltender Joy Sayah (13 saves) made the 300th save of her career. Kathryn Lysko (3 goals), Elle Murphy (4 goals) and Erin O'Donnell (2 goals, 2 assists) led the offense.

Hingham 17, Quincy 1: Shea Berigan, Grace Maroney, Maddie Packard and Stella Brazis all had 2-goal days for the Harborwomen.

Pembroke 18, Plymouth South 7: Megan Dorsey led the Titans with 6 goals. Meaghan Holmes (4 goals) and Deanna Linscott (3) also chipped in offensively as eight different Titans scored.

Middleboro 15, East Bridgewater 3: The Sachems topped the Vikings in South Shore League action.

SOFTBALL

Marshfield 15, Whitman-Hanson 5: Sam Bongiolatti (4 hits) and Ella Staffier (3 hits, 3 RBI) led the Rams (10-9, 8-6 Patriot League). Haylie McPhee added 3 hits and 2 RBI, and Hannah Blanco had 2 doubles and 4 RBI. Emily Harper got the complete-game win in the circle.

Middleboro 16, Abington 2: Maddie Perry was 2 for 4 with a double and a run for the Green Wave (12-3) in the South Shore League home loss. Ally Cousley had a base hit.

BASEBALL

Carver 7, Hull 6: The Crusaders (11-3) won a South Shore League road game. Nick Tiani (2 for 4), Matt Mahoney (2 for 4) and John Reynolds each drove in a pair of runs for Hull (2-12), and Aiden Robey (3 for 4) and Owen Fleck (2 for 4) also starred at the plate.

Southeastern 11, Bishop Connolly 6: Nolan Sturdevant led the offense with a home run and 5 RBI for the Hawks. Dylan Major pitched 5 innings to earn the win.

East Bridgewater 9, Norwell 3: The Vikings beat the Clippers in South Shore League action.

Middleboro 7, Abington 2: The Sachems beat the Green Wave in South Shore League action.

GIRLS TRACK & FIELD

NDA wins another league crown: Emma McCormack won the 100 meters (:13.48) and the long jump (16-0.75) as Notre Dame Academy claimed its 33rd straight Girls Catholic Conference crown. The Cougars, who have won every year since the league was formed in 1989, scored 114 points. Runner-up Ursuline Academy had 63 points, and Fontbonne Academy was third with 35. Malden Catholic (32) and Mount Alvernia (10) rounded out the field.

Other highlights for NDA: Lauren Joyce won the mile (5:37.51); Paige Joyce won the 800m (2:24.65); Grace Burgoyne and Caroline Harnett tied for first in the high jump (4-10); Ava Foley won the triple jump 29-9.5; and Emma Kates won the 2-mile (12:53). The Cougars also swept all three relays -- the 4x100m team of Kate McCormack, Shaelyn Taylor, Julia Bertarelli and Jenna Savaria won in :54.0; the 4x800m team of Maddie Hannan, Caeli Wagner, Nora Henderson and Kates won in 12:16.12; and the 4x400m team of Olivia Mucci, Paige Joyce, Lauren Joyce and Grace Cingel won in 4:35.44.

Fontbonne got wins from Rosin Burke (400m, 1:04.88); Dominique Habchi (400m hurdles, 1:14.78); and Helen Osunsanya (shot put, 31-9.75).

BOYS TENNIS

Duxbury 5, Hingham 0: The Dragons are now within one win of the Patriot League title.

Carver 3, Middleboro 2: Dylan Lynch and Connor McNaughton won at first and second singles for the Sachems.

Cohasset 5, Rockland/East Bridgewater 0: Visiting Rockland/EB dropped to 9-2 (6-2 South Shore League).

GIRLS TENNIS

Oliver Ames 4, North Attleboro 1: Freshman Hannah Farber rallied from a 1-6 loss in the first set at first singles to win in a three-set battle for the Tigers.

GIRLS GOLF

Braintree goes 0-1-1: The Wamps tied Needham, 3-3, and lost to Brookline, 4.5-1.5.

Hingham 5.5, Cohasset 0.5: The Harborwomen won a non-league match.
