HIGH SCHOOL ROUNDUP: Whitman-Hanson boys hockey continues hot streak

The Whitman-Hanson High boys hockey team is hitting its stride.

On Saturday, the Panthers (6-4) defeated Pembroke, 5-2, to pick up their fifth win in the last six games. Joe Culley scored a goal on the first shift of the game to set the tone.

Zach Boss, Luke Tropeano, Alex Ethier and Davis Osis also scored in the win. Nolan Munroe made 22 saves.

Ryan Conway scored his first varsity goal in the loss.

BOYS HOCKEY

Newburyport 5, Milton 2: Jack Dennehy scored both goals in the loss for the Wildcats.

Marshfield 4, Hanover 0: Kevin Murphy recorded the shutout for the Rams and Tommy Carroll had a pair of assists.

Silver Lake 5, North Quincy 1: Aiden Dunphy, Pat Murphy, Brandon Cavicchi, Connor Finn and Nathan Hicks all scored for the Lakers (8-1-1). Strummer Beals played well in net.

Abington 5, Middleboro 1: Jake Quinn scored a goal and handed out two assists while Spencer Merrick made 30 saves in the win. Sam Steinman scored in the loss.

Cohasset/Hull 3, East Bridgewater/West Bridgewater 2: Cohasset/Hull improves to 4-0-3. Anthony Patete and Ben Fuller scored to pulled WEB out of a 2-0 hole. Brett Peterson had two assists.

Diman 2, Southeastern/Bristol-Plymouth 1 (OT): Dylan Quinn made 32 saves and Andrew Flanagan scored for the Hawks (3-3-1).

Burlington 3, Bridgewater-Raynham 2: The Trojans dropped the non-league game.

Duxbury 8, Quincy 2: Aiden Harrington and Will Attallah both scored two goals for the Dragons.

Canton 4, King Philip 0: Michael Thomas scored his first varsity goal in the win.

Scituate 2, Plymouth North 1: The Sailors won the Patriot League game.

Blue Hills 3, South Shore Tech 2: The Warriors won the Mayflower League game.

Weymouth 3, Barnstable 2 (OT): The Wildcats pulled out the non-league win in overtime.

Archbishop Williams 4, Lowell Catholic 1: Finn Kelly, Matt DeMinico, Shamus O’Toole and Sean Murphy all scored for the Bishops.

Norwell 6, Rockland 2: Austin Shea scored two goals for the Clippers in the win. Quinn Simmons, Nolan Petrucelli, Charlie Boras and Tim Ward had solo tallies. Shane Kimball and Patrick McGuirk scored in the loss.

GIRLS HOCKEY

Duxbury 3, Plymouth North/Plymouth South 0: The Dragons won the Patriot League game.

Hingham 4, Hanover 1: Caroline Doherty scored a hat trick for the Harborwomen.

Marshfield 2, Pembroke 2: Jen Birolini scored both goals for the Titans.

Milton 6, Ursuline Academy 1: Maddie Collins scored a pair of goals for the Wildcats (8-1-1). Kerry Balerna, Caelan Leddy, Dory O’Toole and Brenna Walsh scored the other goals and Lila Chamoun stopped 32 shots.

Norwell/Abington 9, Quincy/North Quincy 1: Maddie McDonald scored four goals and handed out an assist in the win. Penny Saich chipped in with two goals.

Scituate 5, Old Rochester Regional 3: The Sailors won the non-league game as Keira Modder had two goals and an assist.

GYMNASTICS

Marshfield 137.4, Plymouth South/Plymouth North 125.6: The Rams improve to 7-0 with the win.

WRESTLING

Bridgewater-Raynham takes third at Woburn Invitational: Brent von Magnus, Christian Curley, Chris Hogg and Nathan Leach won division titles for the Trojans.

Whitman-Hanson takes third at Weymouth Invitational: Braden Kain (138 pounds) and Aidan Guiliani (145) won their respective titles for the Panthers.
