BOYS VOLLEYBALL

Division I

Cranston East 3, North Kingstown 2 (25-15, 12-25, 25-19, 17-25, 16-14)

The Thunderbolts' Charles Pincince had 17 kills and Hunter Maloney had 11 as Cranston East handed the Skippers their first loss of the season. For North Kingstown, Cody Tow had 21 kills and Jared Samson had 17 kills.

Chariho 3, Coventry 0 (25-15, 25-17, 25-16)

Matt Tiernan registered 17 kills, Brandon Knowles added 10 kills and Kody Poplaski had 34 assists as the Chargers cruised to victory over the Oakers.

Classical 3, South Kingstown 0 (25-17, 25-19, 25-12)

Archer Lesser led the way with 10 kills and James Men had 3 aces and 21 assists for the Purple. The Skippers got 5 kills and 2 blocks from Billy Gates and 4 kills and 5 aces from Aiden Conover.

Division II

Central 3, West Warwick 1 (25-21, 20-25, 25-23, 27-25). JV - WW, 2-0.

The play of Central's Jet Mascimento (15 kills, 6 blocks, 4 aces, and 16 digs) and teammate Kayden Mam (9 kills, 20 digs) helped the Knights get past West Warwick. Despite the loss, the Wizards got strong performances by Nate Vanasse (17 kills, 6 blocks, 4 digs) and Chad Rondeau (25 assists, 3 kills, 10 digs, 1 block, 1 ace).

BASEBALL

Division I

La Salle 21, Portsmouth 1 (5 innings)

The Rams piled up 12 runs in the bottom of the first inning and seven more in the bottom of the second to bury the Patriots in Division I. Two errors from Portsmouth extended the opening frame and La Salle (6-1) cashed in, as Jamie Doyle lined a three-run double to left field and Manny Oliver smacked a three-run homer to deep left. Michael Salzillo added a ground-rule double to left-center and Nate Bautista cracked a two-run double to right-center in the second. Nick Spaner drove a solo homer for the Patriots (4-3) in the top of the first.

Cumberland 10, Toll Gate 4

The Clippers plated 6 runs in the extra inning to beat the Titans going away. Scott Penny was 2-4 at the plate for Cumberland, scoring 4 runs, and Charlie Tarara was 3-4 with 3 RBIs. Joaquin Cardoso worked 5 innings, striking out 3 and Ben Jahnz earned the win in relief (2.2 innings, 1 run, one strikeout). For Toll Gate, Geoff Laliberte worked 6 innings, struck out 6 and allowed 3 runs in the loss. At the plate, Jeremie Luna went 3-4 with a pair of RBIs.

Division II

North Kingstown 12, Coventry 2 (6 innings)

A 3-run homerun by Robert Lamond turned out to be the key blast in the Skippers' 12-run outburst as they cruised by the the Oakers. Also contributing to the win were Quincy Rome who had three hits and Andrew Ciarniello, Evan Beattie, Hank Martin and Will Brew, who each had two apiece. NK starter Evan Beattie allowed only 2 hits in in five innings of work to pick up the victory.

GIRLS LACROSSE

Division III

Ponaganset 10, PCD 9

Nora Giorgianni pulled off a hattrick and Katie Papa and Mitzie Wilson had a pair of goals each as the Ponaganset slipped past Providence Country Day. Eloise Wetherby scored 4 goals and added an assist and Ava Soch scored twice for PCD in the loss.
