HIGH SCHOOL SOCCER: Indians push win streak to six; Patriots prevail on Senior Night; Lady Pirates battle to tie

The Indians (8-7) pushed their winning streak to six matches with a dominant performance on Thursday in Richmond.

Sam Hughes had three goals — giving up 23 on the season — as Madison Central topped Franklin County, 7-1. Tyler Smith had two goals and two assists, while Ashton Ward had two goals and an assist.

Parker Wilson and Bishop Burke had two assists each.

Jonah Day earned the win in net.

The Indians are set to return to action Saturday at home against Danville.

Patriots win on Senior Night

Keshav Bhandari scored three goals as the Patriots (14-3) picked up a 3-1 win Thursday over Shelby County on Senior Night in Richmond.

Riley Honaker, Sahil Kutty-Poffenberger and Cannon Fain each had an assist.

Maddox Marks made five saves in net.

The win was the third-straight for the Patriots.

Model is set to return to action Tuesday at Henry County.

Pirates forfeit

The Berea Community boys soccer team forfeited its 44th District match-up with Madison Southern, which was scheduled for Thursday at Berea City Park.

The Eagles finish 3-0 in district play and will be the No. 1 seed in the district tournament, where they will face Berea Community.

Southern (11-3) is set to return to action Tuesday at Lincoln County.

Berea (4-9) is set to return to action Saturday at home against Scott County.

Lady Indians earn win

The Lady Indians (9-2-2) pushed their winning streak to four matches with a 2-1 victory over Central Hardin on Friday at the Bruin Classic in Elizabethtown.

Kally Lloyd and Natalie Knecht had goals for Central.

The Lady Indians are set to return to action today against LaRue County in Elizabethtown.

Berea battles to tie

The Lady Pirates (2-9-2) snapped a five-match losing streak with a 2-2 tie with Paris on Thursday at Berea City Park.

Katie Eiselt had a goal and an assist, while Maddy King also scored.

Diane Wideman had four saves in net and Asiya Carver had three saves.

Berea Community is set to return to action Tuesday at home against North Laurel.
