Girls soccer

O'Neill 4, New Paltz 1: In a matchup of the 2021 sectional title match, Daisy West had three goals and Jael Guy posted a goal and assist for O'Neill (1-0). Sophie Brassard scored for New Paltz (0-2).

Friday, Sept. 2

Boys soccer

Cornwall 3, Washingtonville 3: Aidan Hallinan, Ellis Urgent and Alan Montano each scored for the Dragons.

Irvington 3, Newburgh 2: Anthony Martinez and Tudor Wolfson each scored a goal for Newburgh in a one-goal loss to Irvington in the Ossining tournament. Andreas Gillmeier made five saves for the Goldbacks.

Marlboro at Highland, 7 p.m.

Girls soccer

Newburgh 8, Roosevelt 0: Marina Parodo scored four goals and Riley Frederick added a pair for Newburgh (1-0). Katelyn Qaqish had nine saves for Roosevelt (0-1)

Boys soccer

Warwick 6, Scranton Prep 1: Kayden Zachgo scored two goals, while Anthony Numssen and James Unger each contributed one goal and one assist in Warwick's season-opening and non-league win. Warwick goalkeepers Keiran Gilson and Richard Ostendorp each made one save.

Newburgh 4, Hendrick Hudson 0: Jose Torres scored one goal and had one assist for Newburgh in a shutout win in the Ossining tournament to improve to 1-1. Anthony Martinez, Tommy Koziak and Yensel Granados each added a goal. Andreas Gillmeier made one save in the clean-sheet victory.

Monticello tournament finals: Eldred, Fallsburg, Sullivan West, Monticello; championship and consolation, 1 p.m.

Monday, Sept. 5

Boys soccer

Cornwall 2, Our Lady of Lourdes 1: Ellis Urgent and Finn Harden (assisted by Brennan Burns) each scored goals for the Dragon. Brett Zimmer made seven saves in the win. Evan Cancro scored the lone goal for Our Lady of Lourdes, assisted by Noah Ohrvall. Ned Van Loan made three saves, while Tiernan Limperopulos had three saves including a stop on a penalty kick for Cornwall.

Tuesday, Sept. 6

Boys soccer

Spackenkill 6, Onteora 0: Shahani scored two goals en route to Spackenkill's 6-0 season-opening win over Onteora. Gendron, Barnes and Updike each added a goal for the Spartans (1-0). Kilpert Stour and Breslow each contributed assists.

Red Hook 2, O'Neill 1: Matt Mulkins had a goal and an assist in Red Hook's season-opening win over O'Neill. Gabe Gravino added a goal and Colin MacDonald assisted on the winner. Austin Litton made four saves for Red Hook. Max Jaffet tallied the goal for O'Neill which was assisted by Sam Fuhriman. Lucas Haley made eight saves for O'Neill.

Middletown 2, Rondout Valley 1: Kevin Rios scored the game-winning goal in the first overtime period with the assist from his twin brother Axcel in Middletown's first win in over two years. This was coach James Smith’s first win as a head coach. The other goal came in the first half from Wuilliams Palacios in the Middies' season opener (1-0).

Mount Academy vs. Webutuck, at Elementary school, 4:15 p.m.

Girls soccer

Port Jervis 5, Eldred 0: Ana Van Horn scored three goals as Port Jervis (1-0) earned the season-opening win over Eldred. Penny Jones added a goal and an assist. Avery Edwards contributed a goal. Rachel Duryea had an assist. Alexa Bennett made three saves in the clean-sheet win. Grace Loretto made eight saves for Eldred.

Goshen 4, New Paltz 1: Obligado scored two goals in the Gladiators' (1-0) season-opening win over New Paltz. Appello added three assists. Duffy had one goal and one assist. Barnhorst contributed a goal.

Highland 3, Marlboro 0: Highland wins the season opener in three sets (25-23, 25-17, 26-24). Daniella Grant had eight kills and two aces. Katie Dauenheimer added eight kills, six digs and two aces. Christina Johnston had four kills. Marissa Incorvaia added 24 assists and five aces. Emily Kandetske had eight digs, and five aces. For Marlboro, Madi Callahan had seven kills and four blocks. Katie Thorne contributed three digs, four aces and two kills. Kalista Birkenstock added five digs, three aces and four assists.
