HIGH SCHOOL SOFTBALL: Model falls to Franklin County

Apr. 3—The Model Laboratory softball team had more errors (six) than hits (five) and suffered a 17-3 loss to Franklin County on Friday at the Lady Titan Classic in Mercer County.

Andi Stevens was 2-for-3 and scored two runs for the Lady Patriots (1-2), while Avery Tuttle was 1-for-2 with an RBI, Piper Moore was 1-for-1 and Alana Asbill was 1-for-2.

Model tied the game with a run in the bottom of the first, but the Lady Flyers scored two runs in the second, one in the third and nine times in the fourth inning.

Franklin County had 10 hits.

Hannah Smith started in the circle for Model and went 3 2/3 innings, allowing seven hits, 11 runs (nine earned) with eight walks and one strikeout.

Piper Moore worked 1/3rd on an inning, allowing one hit, two runs and three walks. Haley Hollis pitched one inning, allowing two hits, four runs (three earned) and one walk with two strikeouts.

Model is set to return to action today in the tournament. The Lady Patriots will face Garrard County at noon and Marshall County at 4 p.m.
