Boys swimming

State championships at Ithaca College

Victor senior Alex Crossing won the 500 free title with a time of 4:31.05 to win the overall event. Crossing also finished fifth in the 200 free (1:42.76).

Canandaigua’s 200 medley relay team of Jack Chapman, Nate Teerlinck, Vince Chen and Grant Sweney finished 10th (1:38.02). Chapman was 19th (1:58.27) in the 200 IM and 29th in the 500 free (4:51.17) and Jared Bjorling finished 19th (21.75) in the 50 free.

Also for Canandaigua, the 200 free relay team of Alex Carnevale, Teerlinck, Ethan Colf and Julian Olivieri finished 19th (1:29.4) and the 400 free relay (Bjorling, Dominic Falbo, Olivieri, Chapman) finished 12th (3:16.41).

Chen was 57th in the 100 fly and Teerlinck finished 12th (59.0) in the 100 breast while Olivieri finished 32nd (1:01.37) in the same event. Also in the 100 breast, Carl Parsons of Marcus Whitman finished 38th (1:02.80).

State championships at Ocean Breeze Athletic Complex, Staten Island

Victor junior Melody Harloff led off and senior Maddie Pitts anchored to lead the 1,600 to a 4:04.86 time. Only the team from federation school Paul Robeson of the Catholic High Athletic Association was eight seconds ahead of them. Junior Grace Woodworth and sophomore Julia Sodoma ran the middle legs for Victor.

Pitts finished with five medals, second-best in Section V. She also took two sixths in the triple jump (38-15) and two eighths in high jump at 5-4. Also for Victor, Mallory Casler finished ninth in the high jump (5-3).

Also for the girls, Red Jacket’s Madalenn Fee finished 14th (4:48.25) in the 1,500. Canandaigua’s Kate Scibelli finished 13th (1:39.28) in the 600 and Jaclyn Jorolemon was 12th (40-0.75) in the weight throw.

For the boys, Victor’s Adam Barbato finished 17th (9:28.62) in the 3,200.

Girls indoor track

Section V Class A4 championships at Houghton College

The Honeoye girls win the team championship with 75 points (ahead of runner up Oakfield-Alabama’s 56 points), Red Jacket finished third with 43 and Bloomfield finished 14th with 19 points.

Zara Olsen finished third in the 1,000 (3:30.52) and second in the pole vault (7-6) for Honeoye. Also for the Bulldogs, Cassidy Clark won the race walk (9:32.33), Clare Olsen was third in the 3,000 (12:35.94) and Alyssa Bailey finished second in the 55 hurdles (10.32).

The Bulldogs also won the 4x800 relay and finished second in the 4x400.

For Red Jacket, Madalenn Fee won the 600 (1:43.49), the 1,000 (3:17.95) and the 1,500 (5:39.76). Also for the Indians, Annaelle Smith-Fee was fourth in the 1,500 (5:49.84) and sixth in the high jump (4-4).

Class A3 championships at Houghton College

Midlakes finished second in team scoring with 68 points behind winner Williamson (130.33) and Marcus Whitman finished ninth (24).

For Midlakes, Katelyn Wilkes won the 3,000 (11:37.06), finished second in the 1,000 (3:23.33) and third in the 1,500 (5:31.85) while Alyssa Crance finished third in the 600 (1:48.18).

Also for Midlakes, the 4x200 relay team finished first (2:00.69), Kiana Naval was second in the high jump (4-11) and fourth in the triple jump (32-9.75) and Mari Spooner won the weight throw (34-3).

For Marcus Whitman, Lana Burnett finished third in the triple jump (32-10), fourth in the long jump (14-7) and fifth in the 55 (7.97). Taylor Bond was fourth in the 1,000 (3:31.45) and fifth in the 1,500 (5:46.59) and Sierra Eddinger finished third in the race walk (9:10.62).

The Honeoye boys finished third in team scoring with 56 points and Red Jacket was sixth with 26 points.

For Honeoye, Evan Miller was third in the 55 (7.12) and fourth in the 600 (1:33.16) while the 4x400 relay team won (3:55.74).

Also for the Bulldogs, Gavin Clark won the pole vault (10-0) and Ajay Merrick was second in the weight throw (43-0.25) and third in the shot put (36-10.75).

For Red Jacket, Jarrett Pagoek won the 600 (1:30.50), Ethan Schaertl was sixth in the 1,000 (3:00.06) and Jesse Cottrell was fourth in the triple jump (37-4) and sixth in the long jump (16-2).

Marcus Whitman finished third in team scoring with 62 points behind East Rochester (94) and Le Roy (78). Midlakes finished fifth (40).

Marcus Whitman’s Timothy Hansen won the 3,200 (10:58.57) and Dawsen Christensen finished second in the triple jump (42-2.5) and third in the long jump (20-4).

Austin Mangiarelli was second in the shot put (39-10) and third in the weight throw (40-9), and Brendan Thompson was third in the 1,600 (5:15.59) and third in the 3,200 (11:24.96).

For Midlakes, Zachary Rozelle was third in the 1,000 (2:49.44) and fourth in the high jump (5-4) while Tyler McCarrick finished second in the pole vault (9-3) and sixth in the long jump (18-7.25).

The Canandaigua Academy girls won the team championship with 88 points, edging runner-up Batavia (87). Palmyra-Macedon finished sixth with 42 points.

For the Braves, Kate Scibelli won the 1,000 (3:09.92) and finished third in the 600 (1:45.35) and Jordyn Canali was second in the 1,500 (5:18.40) and second in the 3,000 (11:19.35).

Also for CA, Maya Gjonbalaj won the high jump (5-1), was second in the 55 hurdles (9.45) and finished third in the triple jump (33-3.5). Jaclyn Jorolemon won the weight throw title (39-3) and the 4x400 relay team finished first (4:19.22).

For Pal-Mac, Sophia Barclay won the 55 hurdles (9.22), Ailena Reynolds-Diaz was second in the 600 (1:41.36) and Emma Robinson was fourth in the pole vault (7-6).

Victor’s Melody Harloff won the 55 (7.17) and finished second in the 300 (41.99) and the long jump (17-8) while Maddie Pitts won the 600 (1:38.76) and the triple jump (38-4.75) and finished second in the 55 hurdles (8.65).

The Braves also won the 200 free relay (1:28.46) with Bjorling, Teerlinck, Alex Carnevale and Ethan Colf.

Palmyra-Macedon’s Jackson Bay finished third in the 100 fly (54.32) and fourth in the 100 back (56.57) and George Newsome finished fourth in the 500 free (5:09.56) and seventh in the 200 IM (2:13.96).
