HIGH SCHOOL TENNIS: Central opens season with win over Tates Creek

Mar. 10—The Madison Central tennis teams opened the 2021 season with victories over Tates Creek on Tuesday in Richmond.

The Lady Indians rolled to a 5-0 win and the Indians picked up a 4-1 win.

In girls singles action, Jacey Wilson defeated Camilla Lindahl, 6-1, 6-0, Leah Crump beat Hope Davis, 6-4, 6-2, and Kaitlyn Shaffer defeated Zoe Davis, 6-0, 6-0.

In girls doubles action, Central's Emily Barney and Summer Olmsted beat Grace Dennis and Abigail Thompson, 6-1, 6-0, and Makenna Hull and Sarah Buchanan defeated Katrina Thompson and Johali Yapemacho, 6-2, 2-6, 1-0 (11-9)

In boys singles action, Central's Jaeden Coons beat Blayne Craft, 7-5, 6-4, and Dawson Dulaney beat Quinn Morris, 6-1, 6-0. Central's Cameron Whitaker fell to Daniel Prinssen, 6-4, 6-3.

In boys doubles action, Central's Chandler Smith and Tom Morrison defeated Kiran Ari and Quinn Morris 6-4, 6-3, while Chance White and Pat Moren also picked up a win.

Central is set to return to action Wednesday at East Jessamine.
