HIGH SCHOOL TENNIS: Central sweeps Great Crossing; Lady Eagles beat Berea; Model tops Western Hills

May 6—The Madison Central tennis teams swept a pair of matches with Great Crossing on Thursday in in Richmond.

The Lady Indians rolled to a 4-1 win, while the Indians earned a 3-2 victory.

In girls singles action, Central's Jacey Wilson defeated Anna Iwankovitsch, 8-0, and Emily Holston also earned a win.

In girls doubles action, Central's Emily Barney and Amanda Beall defeated Allison Stubbs and Charlie Knapp, 8-0. Central's Ari Codinach and Emily Coleman also earned a win, while Great Crossing's Morgan Good and Martha Johnson defeated Pyper Wasch and Caroline Christian, 9-7.

In boys singles action, Central's Caiden Gillum defeated Trevor Perry, 4-6, 6-3, 1-0 (10-8), and Great Crossing's Noah Habash defeated Brayden Stamm, 8-3.

In boys doubles action, Central's Jaeden Coons and Brian Prewitt defeated Declan White and Drew Jones, 6-0, 6-1. Great Crossing's Ben Apple and Ethan Wallace defeated Tom Morrison and Alex Miceli, 8-3, and Central's Will Weitlauf and Chandler Smith defeated Gavin Rock and Jordan Thomson, 8-3.

Central is set to return to action this weekend in the KYHSTCA Tournament in Lexington.

Lady Eagles tops Berea

The Madison Southern girls tennis team collected a 3-2 win over cross-town rival Berea Community on Wednesday at Berea College.

Mallory Duerson had an 8-4 singles win for the Lady Eagles.

In doubles action, Julia Bingham and Carlie Hechemy had an 8-1 victory and Anna Seals and Riley Green were victorious by a score of 8-4.

In boys doubles action, Brayden Eads and John Parker-Harris picked up an 8-1 win.

Patriots sweep Western Hills

The Model Laboratory tennis teams swept a pair of matches from Western Hills on Wednesday in Richmond.

The Lady Patriots won 5-0, while the Patriots earned a 4-1 win.

In boys singles action, Model's Aidan Blakeman (8-3), David Tofan (8-0) and Cooper Byron (8-1) had victories.

In boys doubles action, Model's Keshav Bhandari and Colin Lair suffered an 8-6 loss.

In girls singles action, Model's Serena Florell (6-0 6-0), Maiya Bhandari (8-0) and Claire Ballou (8-0) all had easy wins.

In girls doubles action, Model's Rianna Pais and Lily Meade (6-4) and Bella Slinker and Kate Conley (8-1) earned victories.

In exhibition action, Model got wins from Kate Arvin/Katie Taliaferro (8-0), Nicole Tioukalova/Jiwoo Kim (8-0), Darby Nelson/Jennifer Taliaferro (8-0) and Servane Brigadeau/Maudella Bayer (7-1).
