HIGH SCHOOL TOURNAMENT ROUNDUP: No. 3 Cardinal Spellman volleyball sends Hanover home

The Cardinal Spellman High volleyball team looked every bit as good as its No. 3 seed in the Division 3 state tournament suggests on Friday.

The Cardinals rolled to a 3-0 sweep (25-10, 25-14, 25-15) over Hanover in the round of 32. Spellman advances to host No. 14 Fairhaven in the quarterfinals on Tuesday at 5 p.m.

In the loss, Julie Sledziewski tallied six kills and eight digs. Lauren Salvas added 15 digs while Allie Calabro played well.

GIRLS VOLLEYBALL

Rockland 3, Bishop Connolly 0: The win was No. 100 for Emily Adams as her No. 11 Bulldogs earned a game at No. 6 Case in the quartefinals.

Arlington Catholic 3, Abington 0: The No. 26 Green Wave dropped the Round of 32 game.

Douglas 3, South Shore Tech 0: The No. 23 Vikings were sent home in the Div. 5 Round of 32.

Turners Falls 3, Holbook 0: The Bulldogs finish the season at 18-4 following the tournament loss.

Innovation Academy 3, West Bridgewater 0: The Wildcats were eliminated from the Div. 5 tournament.

Oliver Ames 3, Masconomet 0: The No. 7 Tigers will host No. 10 Woburn in the Div. 2 quarterfinals following a hard-fought sweep (25-19, 25-22, 25-21). Sarah Hilliard led the way with 14 kills while Hadley Rhodes tallied 24 assists and six kills. Maddie Homer chipped in 25 digs while Claire O'Rourke had 12 kills.

Westwood 3, Milton 0: The Wildcats were eliminated in the Div. 2 Round of 32.

FIELD HOCKEY

Wellesley 1, Braintree 0: The No. 27-seeded Wamps upset bid came up short against No. 6 Wellesley in the Div. 1 Round of 32.

Doherty 2, Hingham 1: The ninth-seeded Harborwomen were eliminated in the Div. 1 Round of 32 by No. 24 Doherty.

Cohasset 5, Bellingham 1: Maddie Miller scored a pair of goals as the No. 6 Skippers advance to the quarterfinals, which will be at home on Wednesday against the winner of Case and Blackstone Valley Tech. Ainsley Allen, Catherine Brisbane and Molly Stephens added solo tallies.

GIRLS SOCCER

Notre Dame Academy 2, Duxbury 1: Lindsay Wilson and Olivia Mucci scored as the No. 16 Cougars advance to the Div. 2 quarterfinals. NDA will play the winner of Saturday's game between Plymouth North and Billerica on Wednesday.

Minnechaug 2, Duxbury 1: The Dragons were eliminated in penalty kicks.
