HIGH SCHOOL TOURNAMENT ROUNDUP: South Shore teams secure state semifinal and final spots

GIRLS LACROSSE

Duxbury 14, Billerica 6: The No. 4 Dragons defeated the No. 5 seed at home. Duxbury will play the winner of Wednesday's game between top-seeded Notre Dame Academy and No. 8 Masconomet in the Div. 2 Final Four (date, time, location TBD).

Cohasset 12, Newburyport 9: The No. 8 Skippers upset top-seeded Newburyport in the Div. 3 Elite Eight. Cohasset advances to the Final Four and will play the winner of Wednesday's game between No. 4 Weston and No. 5 Pentucket (date, time, location TBD). Laney Larsen led the offense with 6 goals.

Medfield 12, Norwell 5: The seventh-seeded Clippers (14-9) fell to No. 2 Medfield (18-3) in the Div. 3 state quarterfinals. The Warriors advance to face No. 3 Bromfield in the semifinals.

BOYS LACROSSE

Duxbury 10, Minnechaug 5: Campbell Pang had a hat trick, and Delby Lemieux and Bowman Rhinesmith each scored twice as the second-seeded Green Dragons (17-4) knocked off No. 7 Minnechaug (14-7) in the Div. 2 quarterfinals. Duxbury advances to play either No. 3 Billerica or No. 11 Walpole in the semifinals.

Hanover 11, Grafton 6: Senior Derek Tokarz had a hat trick as the third-seeded Hawks (15-5) eliminated No. 6 Grafton (15-5) in the Div. 3 quarterfinals. Hanover advances to the Final Four against the winner of Wednesday's quarterfinal between No. 2 Norwell and No. 7 Austin Prep (6:30 p.m. at Norwell). Junior goalie Ronan Kearney made 8 saves for the Hawks, and junior Ben Hickey had a stellar day at the faceoff X.

Cohasset 12, Medway 3: Aidan Westphalen exploded for 7 goals as the second-seeded Skippers (14-7) ousted No. 7 Medway (11-10) in the Div. 4 state quarterfinals. Cohasset advances to a semifinal matchup against No. 3 Wahconah Regional (details TBA).

BASEBALL

Milton 13, North Attleboro 6: The top-seeded Wildcats (21-3) struck for nine runs in the first inning to win their Div. 2 semifinal over No. 4 NA (18-6) and advance to the state final. Milton will play the winner of Wednesday's game between No. 2 King Philip and No. 3 Mansfield.

Manchester-Essex 6, Abington 5 (8 inn.): The ninth-seeded Green Wave (18-6) lost in walk-off fashion to the fifth-seeded Hornets (14-9) in the Div. 4 state semifinals. Manchester-Essex will play in the Div. 4 title game against No. 7 Seekonk (13-11).

BOYS TENNIS

Westborough 4, Duxbury 1: The third-seeded Green Dragons (20-1) fell to No. 2 Westborough (16-4) in the Div. 2 state semifinals.

BOYS SOCCER

Norwell announces new coach: On Tuesday, Norwell High announced that Michael O'Dea will be the school's next boys varsity soccer coach. He replaces Jack Browne, who retired after the season. The Clippers are coming off the first state title in program history.

O'Dea comes to Norwell after seven years coaching at the freshmen and junior varsity level at Weymouth. He's a Weymouth resident and WHS graduate.
