High school track and field: Central Section Masters sets stage for state championships

Buchanan High reigned supreme in the Central Section track and field Masters meet on Saturday, sweeping the boys and girls team championships.

The meet served as a qualifier for the 103rd CIF state championships that will be held May 26-27 at Veterans Memorial Stadium on the Buchanan campus, site of Saturday’s section meet.

Other teams like Clovis North and Central boys and girls will have a say so in that, too, after strong section showings.

Nickolas Miller of Clovis North was a double winner, winning the 100- and 200-meter sprints in 10.40 seconds and 21.06 respectively.

Grace Hutchison of Buchanan was also a double winner when she won the 1,600 and 3,200 with times of 4:51.83 and 10:37.85.

Noah Ray of Buchanan won the 800 and ran a leg on the winning 3,200 relay team.
