HIGH SCHOOL VOLLEYBALL: Lady Indians roll; Lady Eagles wins; Berea and Model fall

Aug. 31—The Lady Indians (13-2) rolled to four impressive straight-set victories last weekend on the way to claiming the championship at the Boyle County Invitational.

On Tuesday, they rolled to a quick 2-0 lead at home over long-time rival Bryan Station.

"We came out and dominated — like we should," Madison Central coach Janet Thacker said. "We took care of business, then in the third set we kind of leveled off and didn't execute, which let them stay in the match."

The Lady Indians were still able to wrap up another straight-set victory.

Central won by scores of 25-6, 25-6 and 25-20.

Avery Rigney had 21 kills and 10 digs. Emma Carter had 35 assists. Lily Dobbins had 25 digs and Ananiah Huguely had seven aces and four blocks.

The Lady Indians have not lost since Aug. 10 — a 2-1 setback to Central Hardin (a preseason top 25 team).

Central is set to return to action Wednesday at Lexington Catholic.

Southern wins second-straight

The Lady Eagles (3-5) picked up their first road win of the season on Tuesday in London.

Julia Bingham had 10 digs and seven kills as Madison Southern topped North Laurel, 2-0. The Lady Eagles won by scores of 25-16 and 25-19.

Jordyn Walker had eight assists, three kills and three digs. Reagan Burns had 11 assists, eight digs and two aces.

Bre Dawes had eight digs and three aces. Abby Dees had four digs, three kills and two aces. Abby McMullin had five digs and three kills. Addy Spaulding had four digs and three kills. Anna Seals had seven digs and Amber Short had two digs.
