A pair of four-set marathons Tuesday at Solon sent the Warriors (13-12) and Hilltoppers (22-2) to Thursday's district final.

Green (14-10) gave Chardon everything it could handle in the first two sets before tiring under the Hilltoppers constant pressure later.

"They played their butts off tonight," Green coach Alyssa Augustine said. "That's probably the best defensive game we've played all year. We made mistakes, but we played hard. That's all you can ask."

Green was led by 12 kills each from Mia Schindewolf and Kylie Gorsuch. Chardon got 22 kills from Emma McCartney and 48 assists from setter Annabel Friedon.

In the nightcap, Walsh Jesuit's attack came from every angle, but the Tigers made Walsh work for everything. Twinsburg was behind 22-19 in the third set before rallying to force a fourth set.

"We had to work for it," Walsh Jesuit coach Kyra Coundourides said. "Twinsburg had an excellent defensive game. Their hustle is extremely impeccable. I,m proud of the way we adjusted."

"They've got an incredible schedule, so Walsh is used to playing in big games," Twinsburg coach Jess Rader said. "We've had to adjust since we lost middle hitter Taylor Plucky to a broken ankle and we missed her tonight. We adjusted well."

The serve was a weapon for Walsh, as Cassandra Shaw, Allison Bedrick and Kathrine Trzcinski all had four aces. Shaw finished with 29 service points for Walsh.

Ten different Warriors scored kills in the win, led by 12 from Catherine Clemens and 10 each from Trzcinski and Bedrick. Walsh's 6-2 offense ran well as Shaw had 24 assists and Madelyn Reed had 12. Libero Madison Cree had 47 digs.

Twinsburg's senior duo of outside hitter Hailey Williams and setter Kendal Matlock led the Tigers in their final game. Mattlock had 25 digs and 30 assists, and Williams had 18 kills.
