High school wrestling: Where Buchanan stands heading into final day of CIF championships
The Buchanan High boys wrestling team’s attempt at an eighth straight championship is in jeopardy heading into the final day of the California Interscholastic Federation championships.
The Bears trail top-ranked Poway 167.5-147 at Mechanics Bank Arena in Bakersfield on Friday.
Clovis is fifth with 104 points.
Heading into the semifinals, the Bears have five wrestlers in the round. Poway, however, has 10 wrestlers in the semifinals.
It’s a big climb for Buchanan to make if they want to repeat again.
Clovis, meanwhile, has three wrestlers in the semifinals.
The semifinals get started at 10:30 a.m. Saturday.
