High Winds Fuel Mulch Fire Near Popular Cleveland Night Spot

A mulch fire spread in downtown Cleveland, Ohio, in the early hours of Saturday, June 18, likely caused by ‘careless smoking’ and strong winds, officials said.

Footage filmed by Scott Krakowiak shows flames spreading as heavy winds blow enflamed mulch across the street. At one point, Krakowiak is heard telling his friend to move off the street as winds pick up. “I’ve never seen anything like this, what is going on,” he says.
