Highlights: LCA football dispatches another No. 1; Sayre and Franklin County go to 10-0

Here are highlights from Week 11 of Friday’s high school football action, the final week of the regular season.

Lexington Christian 48, Raceland 21: The Eagles (9-1) closed out the regular season with a road win over Class A’s No. 1-ranked Raceland (7-3), the fourth top-ranked team LCA has faced this season.

“We challenged the kids this week to play a little cleaner, and we challenged them to get off to a better start,” LCA coach Doug Charles said. “We’ve been down 7-0 in four of our big, meaningful games.”

Those games included wins over then-Class 5A No. 1 Bowling Green, then-Class A No. 1 Pikeville and Class 3A No. 2 Lexington Catholic. The Eagles also beat Class 3A No. 1 Christian Academy-Louisville. LCA’s only loss came to Class 4A No. 1 Boyle County.

Against the Rams on Friday, Brady Hensley rushed for 265 yards and five touchdowns as LCA jumped to a 26-0 lead before conceding the first Raceland score in the second half. Hensley’s TD runs covered 31, 35, 40, 56 and 53 yards.

Those stats put Hensley at 1,940 yards rushing on the season with 36 TDs, numbers that would have to make him a front-runner for Kentucky’s Mr. Football award given annually to the state’s most outstanding senior.

“He’s certainly put the state on notice that he’s a very good football player,” Charles said of his senior running back.

Teammate Cutter Boley, LCA’s four-star Kentucky quarterback commit, will surely be in the running too, but Charles said the two have nothing but friendship and admiration for each other.

“All you’ve got to do is watch them in practice, watch them in the locker room and watch them in games,” Charles said. “Tonight, Brady had a big night and Cutter’s the first one to celebrate with him.”

Boley threw for 126 yards and had an 11-yard TD pass to Nate Barnhardt late in the second quarter.

BJ Evans also scored for the Eagles. Raceland got two TDs from Noah Wallace and a late score by Isaac Browning.

Bryan Station 48, Central Hardin 8: The Defenders (7-3) built upon a 28-point first quarter to beat the Bruins (5-5).

Brock Coffman notched 115 yards receiving and a score. Slabaugh added a 46-yard TD return of an attempted onside kick late.
