Cohen was the first of four Green Raiders to shoot 82 or better and help the team win the North 1 title. Charlie Messery shot 78, Henry Chen 79 and Christopher John 82.

“Being able to come home with a trophy and also advancing is more than I can ask for out of these guys,” Ramapo coach Brian Gogerty said.

“We played well as a team, happy to move on, and it was our season-low, so everyone played pretty solid today,” Cohen said.

Ko is making his return to the State Championship and simultaneous Tournament of Champions, which is Tuesday and again will be held at Hawk Point in Washington. He shot 2-over 74 at last year’s finale.

“I played great, but I didn’t finish as strong as I wanted to, but it was good, consistent play and I’m happy with it,” Ko said of Tuesday's sectional. “It’s exciting, [qualifying] was my goal, and now that I’m going there, I’m looking forward to it.”

“I’m happy for the team, certainly, but I’m a little surprised the number was so high,” Old Tappan coach Tom Quinn. said. “But I guess it was hard on everyone, with the wind and it rained all weekend, so there might have been wet spots.”

“But we’re a good team and we’ll be ready next week, and for [Thursday’s Bergen County team championship],” Quinn added. “We have to shore up some things, but we’ll take it and we’ll move on.”
