Highly-touted prospect Norge Vera among the international signings announced by the Chicago White Sox

Cuban pitcher Norge Vera was among the seven international signings announced Friday by the Chicago White Sox.

Vera and the Sox came to terms on a deal with a $1.5 million signing bonus.

MLB Pipeline ranks Vera, 20, as the No. 15 international prospect.

The 6-foot-4, 185-pound Vera went 2-3 with a 3.79 ERA, one complete game, one shutout and 37 strikeouts in 11 starts in the 2018-19 season for Santiago de Cuba in the Cuban Serie Nacional, Cuba’s top-level league.

The Sox also announced the signings of outfielder/first baseman Dario Borrero, right-handed pitchers Adrian Gil and Carlos Hinestroza, catcher Manuel Guariman, outfielder Carlos Jimenez and third baseman Victor Quezada.

Last month, the Sox announced the singing of outfielder Yoelqui Cespedes, the top ranked international prospect according to MLB.com.

“I am thrilled with the talent we were able to add to the organization during this international signing period,” said Marco Paddy, White Sox special assistant to the general manager, in a statement. “It was highlighted with the signings of Yoelqui Cespedes and Norge Vera — a right-handed pitcher with an outstanding fastball and who has shown promising secondary pitches — and capped off with six talented young players. I cannot wait to see this group compete throughout the White Sox system.”

The 6-foot-5, 198-pound Borrero, 17, is a native of Valencia, Venezuela, and bats and throws left-handed. The 6-foot-1, 180-pound Gil, 17, is a native of Barcelona, Venezuela. He was trained by former White Sox pitcher Freddy Garcia.

The 6-foot-1, 190-pound Hinestroza, 18, is a native of Panama City. The 6-foot, 190-pound Guariman, 17, is a native of Barcelona, Venezuela, and throws and bats right-handed.

The 6-foot-4, 220-pound Jimenez, 19, is a Panama City native, and throws and bats left-handed.
