Highway Patrol asks for public's help in hit-and-run that leaves Arden woman dead

ARDEN - The North Carolina Highway Patrol reports that a 50-year-old woman from Arden died after she was hit by an unknown vehicle.

The incident happened July 31 around 2 a.m., said Rohn Silvers, a spokesperson for the Highway Patrol's Troop G, in an email.

Melody Haynes Harrison of Arden was walking north in the north-bound lane of U.S. Highway 25 at Watson Road when she was hit by the vehicle, Silvers said. The area is between Arden and Fletcher on Hendersonville Road.

She was pronounced dead at the scene, Silvers said.

The incident is believed to be an accident, Silvers said, but the Highway Patrol is asking for anyone with information to contact the agency.

The Highway Patrol asks for anyone with information that could help identify the vehicle or driver to call 1-800-445-1772.
