A man has been charged in a four-car collision near Kings Mountain Tuesday that caused the death of a Harrisburg woman, according to North Carolina Highway Patrol.

Alexander Feldman of Hallandale, Florida, was taken into custody and charged with misdemeanor death by motor vehicle, according to a press release from North Carolina Highway Patrol. By Wednesday, he had posted bond and been released.

On Tuesday, at 5 a.m., Highway Patrol troopers responded to a collision involving one confirmed fatality on I-85 south just north of exit five at Dixon School Road near Kings Mountain, according to a press release.

It was determined that four vehicles were involved in the crash.

The release states that a tractor trailer was slowing due to lane closure of I-85 for ongoing road construction at exit 5 when a Tesla, followed by a Kia slowed down. A second tractor trailer, driven by Feldman, ended up hitting the Kia, causing it to strike the Tesla and then the first tractor trailer, according to Highway Patrol. Both the tractor trailer and the Kia ended up in the right southbound lane of I-85.

The Tesla ran off the left side of the road and hit a guardrail while Feldman’s tractor trailer ended up off the right side of the road partially in the right southbound lane of I-85, the release states.

All three people in the Tesla were taken to Atrium Cleveland with non-life threatening injuries.

The driver of the Kia, Arlene Bulanda, 70, of Harrisburg, died at the scene, according to the release.

Both Feldman and the driver of the other tractor trailer were not injured, according to Highway Patrol, and the collision is still under investigation.
